FORT MILL - Mr. Dale Arthur Nicholas Sr., 63, of 1550 Banks St., Apt. 4, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John R. Fastenau officiating.
Mr. Nicholas worked for Nabisco in Pittsburgh, Pa. After moving to Fort Mill, he worked as a landscaper for York Technical College. He was a member of Christ Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Laura Mundt Nicholas; five sons, Dale Arthur Nicholas Jr. and David Errol Nicholas, both of Rock Hill, and Barry Clayton Nicholas, Scott Dennis Nicholas and Wayne Kirk Nicholas, all of Fort Mill; three daughters, Laura May Patterson of Tulsa, Okla., Deborah Ann Nicholas of Fort Mill and Sonja Marlene West of Broken Arrow, Okla.; his brother, Henry Marcus Nicholas of Apple Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Charles Payton
FORT MILL - Mr. Charles Henry Payton, 55, of 109 Avery St. died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carlwell Culp officiating. The Rev. Loretta Adams will give the eulogy. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Payton was retired from Thermoplastics in Pineville, N.C. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, which he joined at an early age. He served nine years in the Army, graduated valedictorian in 1960 from George Fish High School and was captain of the varsity basketball team.
Surviving are his son, Charles Moore of Fort Mill; his adoptive mother, Lula Bell Wilson of Fort Mill; his father and stepmother, Quincy and Macey Barber of Fort Mill; his brother, Henry Lee Payton of Charlotte; his sister, Joanne Payton Thompson of Charlotte; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church and at other times at the home.

Ophelia Stover
WHITSETT, N.C. - Mrs. Ophelia Keels Stover, 78, of 5003 McConnell Road died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Lowe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert M. Disher officiating. Burial will be at Alamance Memorial Park.
Mrs. Stover was a homemaker and the widow of Lexie James Stover. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rock Hill.
Surviving are two sons, William "Bill" Stover of Key Largo, Fla., and Daniel "Dan" Stover of Georgetown; her daughter, Teresa Ann Stover of Greensboro; her sister, Allie Keels Gouldin of Greensboro, N.C.; her brother, Walker C. Keels of Charleston; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Wade Truesdale
YORK - Mr. Wade J. Truesdale, 73, of 2299 Sussex Road died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Alan Arnold officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Heath Springs, Mr. Truesdale was retired from Hoescht-Celanese Corp., where he worked as an engineer in Charlotte and Rock Hill. He was a member of Allison Creek Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post 34 in Rock Hill. He was a 1950 graduate of Erskine College.
Surviving are his wife, Marcella Jones Truesdale; two sons, Edward "Ed" Truesdale of Murrells Inlet and Joseph "Joe" Truesdale of Sarasota, Fla.; his daughter Suzanne T. Mathis of Versailles, Ky.; two brothers, Norton Truesdale of Kernersville, N.C., and Dewitt J. Truesdale of Rock Hill; his sister, Beatrice Westbrook of Charlotte; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after the service.

Henry Fanning
CLOVER - Mr. Henry David Fanning, 87, formerly of Clover, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at Athena Rehab in Lake City, Ga.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Clover ARP Church with the Rev. Calvin Draffin officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Born in Bamberg County, Mr. Fanning was retired from American Thread Inc.
He also was an elder and deacon at Clover ARP Church.
Surviving are his daughter, Nell F. Lloyd of Lake City; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Lynn Hammond
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Lynn C. Hammond, 79, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at Lakeview Living Center in Pineville, N.C.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Stan Heiser officiating. Internment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at McEwen Funeral Service Charlotte chapel.
Mr. Hammond was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church and had retired from the Observer Transportation Company in 1982, after more than 30 years of service.
Surviving are three sons, Len C. Hammond of Cornelius, Jerry W. Hammond of Concord, N.C., and Charles Henry Hammond of Rock Hill; his stepson, Mike Steel of Charlotte; three stepdaughters, Mary Charles Suther of Dallas, Jeannie Baucom of Evans, Ga., and Donna Curtis of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
Richard Kesler Jr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. Richard Lyn Kesler Jr., 47, of 1314 Centennial Drive, Rock Hill, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, at his home.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill chapel, with the Rev. Miriam Mick officiating.
Born in Charlotte, Mr. Kesler was a licensed master social worker and the clinical treatment director for Keystone of Rock Hill.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Bryan Kesler; his son, Matthew Kesler of Lancaster; two stepdaughters, Kristin Little and Jennifer Little, both of Rock Hill; and his sister, Pamela Lyons of Hinton, W.Va.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the home.
