Ruth Turner

CRAMERTON, N.C. - Mrs. Ruth Childers Turner died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.

The graveside visitation will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gaston Memorial Park, with the Rev. Laura Hubbard officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia.

Mrs. Turner was a native of York.

She retired in 1975 as owner and beautician at Cramerton Beauty Shop. She was a life member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church in Cramerton.

Surviving are two sisters, Helen Childers Wylie of Folly Beach and Sarah Childers Goodwin of Topeka, Kan.; her brother, Fred Turner of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church, 154 North Main St., Cramerton, NC 28032.

David Walker

ROCK HILL - Mr. David Edward Walker, 59, of 652 Neely's Creek Road died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alton Stone officiating and Dr. Tommy Huddleston assisting. Burial will be at Catawba Baptist Church cemetery.

A Rock Hill native, Mr. Walker was an instrumentation technician with Westinghouse Nuclear Services in Charlotte. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was of the Penecostal faith.

Surviving are his wife, Vickie Wilbanks Walker; his son, David Edward Walker Jr. of Rock Hill; four daughters, Wendi Walker Anderson and Michelle Walker Gwin, both of Rock Hill, Cynthia Pope Garten of Easley and Samantha Walker Moore of Catawba; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, P.O. Box 639, Wilson, NC 27894.

Dianne Whitlock

ROCK HILL - Miss Dianne A. Whitlock, 38, of 1067 Archer Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Philippi Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God, with the Rev. James Hill officiating. Burial will be at St. Phillips Baptist Church cemetery.

Miss Whitlock attended York County public schools.

Surviving are her son, Demario P. Whitlock of the home; her daughter, Kisha L. Whitlock of the home; her mother, Hope Whitlock of the home; four brothers, J.T. Whitlock of Hackensack, N.J., James A. Whitlock, Sammie Lee Whitlock and Jessie James Whitlock, all of Rock Hill; six sisters, Ella Young of Buffalo, N.Y., Eva Mae Whitlock, Rose Mae McClure, Helen Whitlock, Esther Mae Williams and Judy Evans, and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Parker Funeral Home is in charge.

Vellar Biggers

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Vellar Nichols Biggers, 91, of 2732 Barringer Drive died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Loves Chapel AME Zion Church in Lake Wylie, with the Rev. Paulette L. Leak officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

A York County native, Mrs. Biggers was a homemaker. She was the widow of Roosevelt Biggers, and was a member of New Loves Chapel AME Zion Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Quince B. Sanders of Charlotte; two sisters, Bessie Meeks of Rock Hill and Gladys Watson of Gastonia, N.C.; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at New Loves Chapel AME Zion Church.

Costner Funeral Home in Gastonia is in charge.

Arvel Bohler

FORT MILL - Mr. Arvel Darel Bohler, 85, of 331 Mulberry Village Lane died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Fort Mill Funeral Home.

Bessie Cousar

FORT WORTH, Texas - Mrs. Bessie Brice Cousar, 61, of Fort Worth, formerly of Chester and Rock Hill, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at Harris Methodist Hospital.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Spencer's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fort Worth.

Mrs. Cousar was a native of Chester County. She was educated in the Chester County public schools and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Nathan "Lindberg" Cousar of Rock Hill; three sons, Bobby Cousar, Terry Cousar and Charles Cousar, all of Fort Worth; four daughters, Patricia Cousar of Charlotte, Vanilla Cousar of Rock Hill, Mary Fair of Fort Worth and Dorothy Jennigan of Marshall, Texas; her brother, James Brice of Charlotte; five sisters, Carrie Taylor of Fort Worth, Mary Rease of Bronx, N.Y., Pauline Gilmore of Winnsboro, Laura Harris of Washington, D.C., and Margaret Brice of Rock Hill; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

King's Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
