Ruth Gardner

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ruth Gardner, 76, of 201 Chesterfield Ave. died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. W.C. Wallace officiating.

Mrs. Gardner was a retired nurse and worked at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Bennett Jack Rollings. She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Lucile Rollings James of Lancaster and Violet Rollings Boyd of North Myrtle Beach; two sons, Jimmy Carl Rollings of Lancaster and Gary Lee Rollings of Kershaw; three brothers, Emsley Raymond Jenkins, Robert Jenkins and Billy Ray Jenkins, all of Lancaster; two sisters, Mary Blackmon and Clara Mae, both of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Robert Harper

LANCASTER - Mr. Robert Biggart Harper, 89, of 2605 Kershaw Camden Highway died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carlos Gardner officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery with Masonic rites.

Mr. Harper was a retired building contractor. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Antioch Masonic Lodge No. 399.

Surviving are his son, William L. Harper of Lancaster; three daughters, Robbie Lou Chesser and Dorothy Marshall, both of Lancaster, and Peggy Marshall of Wilson, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 128 Providence Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Robert Jackson

YORK - Mr. Robert Spugeon "Spug" Jackson, 62, of 6479 Old York Road died Monday Aug. 30, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Center Emmanuel AME Zion Church, with the Rev Mary L. Adams officiating and the Revs. B.R. Wilson and L. Hancock assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Jackson was a veterinarian's assistant at Rock Hill Animal Clinic. He was a retired dolpher for Pharr Yarns Manufacturing, Clover division, and was a trustee at Center Emmanuel AME Zion Church in Tirzah. He was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School and attended Clinton Junior College.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Gill Jackson and Eric Gill Jackson, both of Rock Hill; his daughter, Deborah Gill Jackson of Rock Hill; his nephew whom he raised, Dr. Darial A. Jackson of York; three brothers, Ruperd Currence of Rock Hill, James Jackson of Philadelphia and Carl Jackson of Charlotte; and three grandchildren.

The body may viewed from 5 to 8 tonight at Wright Funeral Home in York.

The family will receive friends at home.

Kelli Roark

ROCK HILL - Kelli Colin Roark, 8, of Rock Hill died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

The funeral will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Charlotte, with the Rev. Kathie Sherrill officiating. A fellowship meal will be in the church fellowship hall after the service.

Born in Mecklenburg County, Kelli was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Charlotte and attended Hunter Elementary Street School in York.

Surviving are her parents, Carl and Angel Roark; two brothers, Kyle Roark and Kaleb Roark, both of the home; and her grandparents, James and Mary Cooper of Birmingham, Ala., Carl and Sally Roark of York, and Ronald and Shirley Ellington of Clearwater, Fla.

Memorials may be made to Make a Wish Foundation, 200 Centreport Drive, Greensboro, NC 27409 or to the National Children's Cancer Society, 1015 Locust St., Suite 600, St. Louis, Mo. 63101.

Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service in Charlotte is in charge.

Wilford Barr

LAKE CITY - Mr. Wilford Barr of 601 Constitution Ave. died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Memorial Auditorium, South Ron McNair Boulevard, with the Rev. Vermelle M. Humes officiating. Burial will be at Rest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Barr was mayor of Lake City for 5 years. He was a former city council member.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Sherrill Barr; two sons, Dorian Dwayne Barr and Sean Patrick Barr, both of Lake City; five sisters, Ula Dean Burgess, Julia Faye Blanding, and Zebra Ann Pickney, all of Lake City, and Ola Mae Davis and Vida Iglehon, both of New Jersey.

The wake will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Bethel AME Zion Church.

The family will receive friends at home.

Green's Funeral Home is in charge.

Vivian Brenchley

LANCASTER - Mrs. Vivian Pearsall Hamm Brenchley, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hartley Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Davis officiating. Burial will be at Blue Bonnett Hill Memorial Cemetery in Colleyville, Texas.

Mrs. Brenchley was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Rock Hill.

Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Marion Wiggins of New Berlin; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Rock Hill, 255 Neely Store Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Arvel Bohler

FORT MILL - Mr. Arvel Darel Bohler, 85, of 331 Mulberry Village Lane died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.

Mr. Bohler was a native of Mt. Carmel, Ind. He was a 50-year member of Local 157 of Terre Haute Ind. He was member of Gramville Masonic Lodge 707 in Gramville, Ky., and a Shriner.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille Bernadine Bohler; his son, Joshua Bohler of Fort Mill; his daughter, Debra C. Bohler of Wilmington, N.C.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Fort Mill Funeral Home is in charge.
