Mary Jenkins

KERSHAW - Miss Mary Ada Jenkins of 316 N. Minor St died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Robert Eubanks and Donald McManus officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

Miss Jenkins was a member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Columbia College with an A.B. degree and a music degree.

Surviving is her sister, Esther C. Jenkins of Kershaw.

The family will receive friends at the home of Esther Jenkins, 316 N. Minor St., Kershaw.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Mauricio Perez

PAGELAND - Mr. Mauricio Gardoza Perez, 23, of Route 1, Box 354Y died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Heights Church of Pageland, with the Revs. Phillip Bell and Frank Alexander officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mr. Perez was a native of Mexico. He was a roofer.

Surviving are his wife, Samantha Reneé Morgan Perez; his son, Joaquin Perez of Pageland; his parents, Joaquin Gardoza and Manuela Perez of San Louis, Mexico; his brother, Joaquin Perez of Houston; and her sister, Katlina Perez of Houston.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at 2489 Douglas Road, Lancaster.

Grace Smith

CHRISTIANBURG, Va. - Mrs. Grace Horton Smith, 69, of Christianburg died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998.

The graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Jerry Sosebee officiating.

Surviving are her daughter, Kathy S. Duncan of Dublin, Va.; her brother, Ralph Horton of Lexington; and her grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 1140 Curtis St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home of Radford, Va., is in charge.

Lottie Turner

YORK - Mrs. Lottie Bell Turner, 84, of Meadowhaven Nursing Home died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by York Funeral Home.

Surviving are her son, James P. Turner of Filbert; two daughters, Barbara T. Propst and Gloria Jayne Dover, both of York; two sisters, Ida Hudgins of York and Beatrice White of Clover; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

David Ayers

ROCK HILL - Mr. David Lewis Ayers, 72, of 2222 Celanese Road died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The funeral will be private.

Mr. Ayers was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Rock Hill. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division.

Surviving are his wife, Anita Ayers; two daughters, Karyn L. Ayers of Rock Hill and Trina A. McFadden of Fort Lawn; three brothers, James Ayers of Pensacola, Fla., William Ayers of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Richard Ayers of Chuckey, Tenn; four sisters, Gilmer Herton of San Angelo, Texas, Virginia Darbee of Sautee, Ga., Anne Havens of Columbia and Mary Alice Peterson of New Bern, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Jay Caskey

LANCASTER - Mr. Jay Bart Caskey, 80, of 2988 Great Falls Highway died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Bethel Baptist Church, with the Revs. Marion Dry and Mike Hammond officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Caskey was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a prisoner of war. He received a Purple Heart.

Surviving are his wife, Eleanor McKeown Caskey; two sons, Jay Caskey of York and Dale Caskey of Lancaster; his daughter, Dr. Cynthia Caskey Oberfelder of Houston; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 3149 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Claude Hoffman

FARMERVILLE, La. - Mr. Claude Donald Hoffman, 67, of 613 N. Lakeview Drive, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998, at Columbia North Monroe Hospital in Monroe, La.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Farmerville, with the Rev. James Parker officiating. Burial will be at Pinewood Memorial Park in Crossett, Ark.

Mr. Hoffman was a member of First Baptist Church of Farmerville. He was a 3rd Degree Master Mason. He retired as assistant superintendent of No. 3 Newsprint Paper Mill, Bowater Carolina, after 23 years.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Page Hoffman; four daughters, Beth Jockmans of Blaine, Wash., Donna Adams of Fort Lawn, Kaye Hoffman of Lancaster and Nancy Reynolds of Rock Hill; his stepdaughter, Kim Reed of Crossett, Ark.; two brothers, Walt Hoffman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Hubert Hoffman of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Farmerville.
