Lloyd Boney

ROCK HILL - Mr. Lloyd W. Boney, 81, of 1299 Meadow Lakes Road died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, N.C.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Carolina Covenant Church in Fort Mill. Burial will be at a later date in Wallace, N.C.

Mr. Boney was a member of Carolina Covenant Church. He was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a fruit and vegetable inspector. He also worked 20 years for the Winn Dixie Distribution Center in Charlotte. He was a paratrooper in the Army during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Maria C. Boney; his daughter, Christine Hall of Florida; two sons, David Rodriguez of Columbia and Dennis Rodriguez of Florida; his brother, Gene Boney of Williamston, N.C., and his sister, Eunice Hester of Richmond, Va.

Memorials may be made to Carolina Covenant Church building fund, 1090 Gold Hill Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Edward Elem

WASHINGTON - Mr. Edward Elem, 85, of Maryland, formerly of Chester, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Red Hill Baptist Church in Leeds, with the Rev. Roosevelt Adams officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Elem was a member of the New Iron Baptist Church in Elizabeth, N.J., where he was on the Trustee Board for 30 years. He was a former member of Red Hill Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his daughter, Helen Wilks of Washington; his son, John Mayfield of Elizabeth, N.J.; his brother, Charles Elem of Washington; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Ellerbee and Katie Bowser, 503 Washington St., Chester.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Robert Goerk

FORT MILL - Mr. Robert Michael Goerk, 63, of 237 Pond View Lane died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at Franklin Regional Medical Center in Louisburg, N.C.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at All Nations Church, 11407-D Granite St., Charlotte, with the Rev. Mahesh Chauda officiating.

A Pittsburgh native, Mr. Goerk was employed with Siemens Automation and Energy in Wendell, N.C. He was a member of All Nations Church in Charlotte. He was a Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Trudy B. Goerk; two sons, David Goerk and Jonathan Goerk, both of the home; his daughter, Maranatha Goerk of the home; and two brothers, Jack Goerk of Pittsburgh, and Paul Goerk of Tampa, Fla.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Fort Mill Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY 10023 or to Watch of the Lord c/o All Nations Church, P.O. Box 472009, Charlotte, NC 28247.

Janet Hawkins

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Janet W. Hawkins, 66, of 1620 Firetower Road died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, at her home.

Burial was at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Hawkins was a homemaker and was of the Presbyterian faith.

Surviving are her husband, William "Bill" Hawkins; two sons, Thomas Clyde Carter of Carrollton, Ga., and Richard Eugene Brakefield of Kannapolis, N.C.; her daughter, Sandra H. O'Brien of Rock Hill; two brothers, G. Jones Whisonant and Ervin J. Whisonant, both of Rock Hill; and three sisters, Dollie W. Mangrum, Mary W. Ward and Frances W. Branham, all of Rock Hill; and a number of grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Thetis Hucks

CHESTER - Mrs. Thetis Mitchum Hucks, 68, of 118 Henry St. died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Gregory Keller officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Hucks was a registered nurse and had worked at Chester County Hospital, Springs Industries and Divine Saviour Nursing Home. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school for 42 years. She was president of the World Missionary Society at her local church and was a graduate of Sumter High School.

Surviving are her husband, J.B. Hucks; four sons, J.B. Hucks Jr. of Germany, Myron Hucks of Chester, Marcus Hucks of Rock Hill and Stalvey Hucks of Clover; her daughter, Cynthia Todd of Clover; her mother, Mary Lee Mitchum of Sumter; two brothers, Leonard Mitchum of Paxville and Ricky Mitchum of Sumter; six sisters, Rachel Lowder of Sumter, Dorothy Baird of Austin, Texas, Erlene Deese of Scranton, Patricia Driggers of Timmonsville, Susan Britton of Columbia and Linda Davis of Ocala, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Missionary Society, First Church of the Nazarene, 182 Pinckney St., Chester.

Edith Hudson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Edith Rockholt Hudson, 67, of 1483 Clairmont St. died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Lowery officiating.

Mrs. Hudson was retired from Celanese where she worked in the spinning department. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are two daughters, Gwen Melton of Rock Hill and Rhonda Black of McConnells; three brothers, Robert Rockholt of York, Waddell Rockholt of Rock Hill, and David Rockholt of Fort Mill; four sisters, Nettie Daves and Leila Adkins, both of McConnells, Betty Joe Bass of York and Helen Greene of Chester; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, 3451 Pinehill Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to the West End Baptist Church building fund, 1727 McConnells Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Michael Jordan

FORT MILL - Mr. Michael Ray Jordan, 43, of 286 Little River Road died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Scruggs officiating.

Mr. Jordan was a native of York County and a self-employed carpenter.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Jordan; four sons, Michael Ray Jordan II and Walter Glenn Jordan, both of Rock Hill, and William Davis and Trinity Jordan, both of Fort Mill; his daughter, Sabrina Davis of Fort Mill; his parents, David Glenn Sr. and Dora Lee Jordan of Fort Mill; his brother, David Glenn Jordan Jr.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
