Kathleen Meek

CHESTER - Mrs. Kathleen Gray "Kathy" Meek, 69, of 2344 Center Road died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at home.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Will Brown officiating and the Rev. F. Donald Beaty assisting.

Mrs. Meek was a retired secretary, having been employed with the Chester office of the S.C. Employment Security Commission. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are husband, Maxie William "Max" Meek; her son, William G. Meek of Monroe, N.C.; her daughter, Gail M. Meek of Charlotte; her brother Malcolm H. Gray of Pulaski, Va.; two sisters, Ethel J. Crockett of Rural Retreat, Va., and Virginia E. Lindamood of Brook Park, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in the church social hall after the service.

Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 101 York St., Chester, SC 29706 or to Hospice of York County, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Benjamin Mosley

PICKENS - Mr. Benjamin Donville Mosley, 84, of 247 Right Fork Road died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at McKinney Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Claude Kelley officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Mosley was retired as a self-employed logger. A native of Oconee County, he was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Delfie Smith Mosley; three daughters, Juanita Diane Fowler of Easley and Rose Evatt and Bonnie Reece, both of Pickens; six sons, Marvin Mosley of Rock Hill and Gerald Mosley, Roy Mosley, James Mosley, Jerry Mosley and Earl Mosley, all of Pickens; 26 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Beatrice Singletary

CHESTER - Mrs. Beatrice M. "Mama Bee" Singletary, 98, of 2624 Loving Circle died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Mount Prospect Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Sims officiating and the Rev. J.E. Darby assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Singletary was a retired domestic worker and was a member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church.

Surviving are her goddaughter, with whom she lived, Tryphenia Lee of Chester.

The body will be taken to the church at noon today.

King's Funeral Home is in charge.

Maggie Thompson

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Maggie B. Young Thompson, 93, of Tanglewood Health Care in Ridgeway, formerly of Sweatt-McCullough Road in Great Falls, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, at Tanglewood Health Care.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Rossville AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Anthony Commodore officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson was a member of Rossville AME Zion Church and a former member of Mount Nebo AME Zion Church. While residing in Durham, N.C., she was a member of St. Mark AME Zion Church. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her caretakers, Rosa Lee McCrorey and Dorothy McCrorey and Charles Goines, all of Great Falls; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church and at other times at the home of Rose Lee McCrorey, 5294 Sweatt-McCullough Road.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home in Great Falls.

Peter Wuest

TAYLORS - Mr. Peter Henry Wuest, 92, of 50 W. Tyger Bridge Road died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wood Mortuary in Greer, with the Rev. Ken Kimbril officiating.

Mr. Wuest was a native of St. Charles, S.D. He was retired from Southern Bleachery and Print Works in Taylors and was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Tigerville.

Surviving are his son, Charles R. "Chuck" Wuest of Tigerville; his daughter, Beatrice Sue W. Loftis of Rock Hill; two brothers, Jim Wuest of Peoria, Ill., and Joe Wuest of Vernonia, Ore.; his sister, Etta Russell of Vernonia; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Westminster Presbyterian Church parlor in Rock Hill and immediately following the memorial service.

Memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 6645 Mount View Road, Taylors, SC 29678.

Richard Young Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. Richard Young Sr., 70, of 130 Mill St. died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Blackstock, with the Rev. Frankie Ellis officiating and the Revs. J.D. McClurkin, Moses Lightner, Robert L. McClurkin, J.E. Darby, John W. Wright and Fred Murphy Jr. assisting. The Rev. Jessie Boulware will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Young was a Chester native and a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he was the choir leader for more than 25 years, a deacon, chairman of the Deacon Board, church treasurer, former usher and member of the Trustee Board. He attended the Chester County public schools. He was retired from Perfotex Inc.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Alice Young; two sons, Johnny Young and Richard Young Jr., both of Chester; his daughter, Vivian Young of Chester; his brother, Arthur Brice of Newark, N.J.; 10 sisters, Geneva Hodges of Aberdeen, N.C., Louise Boyd, Betty Strong, Mary J. McCullough, Alberta McCullough, Geneva Morris and Lacy Barnes, all of Chester, and Gertrude Brice, Janie Crawly and Rose Brice, all of Newark, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. today.

King's Funeral Home is in charge.

Catherine Adams

YORK - Mrs. Catherine Adams of 256 Old Leon Adams Road died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright Funeral Home.

Iella Brice

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Iella Brice, 62, of 643 Harrison St. died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at White Oak Manor in York.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home.
