Paul Baker
ROCK HILL - Mr. Paul Andrew Baker, 73, of 673 Izard St. died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at his home.
Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Katherine Carnes
LANCASTER - Miss Katherine J. Carnes, 93, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, N.C.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westside Cemetery in Lancaster, with the Rev. Steve Morgan officiating.
Miss Carnes was a Lancaster native and a Winthrop College graduate. She taught school for 40 years, 28 years in Charlotte. After retiring, she was active with Lancaster County preservation and education by promoting such projects as the One Room Log School House at Andrew Jackson State Park, the Wall of Fame at Main and Dunlap streets and the establishment of a scholarship fund at the University of South Carolina-Lancaster. Her former home at 211 W. Dunlap St. has housed the Lancaster County Council of the Arts for several years.
Miss Carnes was a member of the Evelyn Bagley Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Retired Educators Association and Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary society for teachers.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 608, Lancaster, SC 29721.
Mahaffey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Gaston Jr.
CHESTER - Mr. James Robert Gaston Jr., 31, of 2886 Lyle Road died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gregg Keller officiating. Burial will be at Wilksburg Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Gaston was born in Chester County and attended Chester and York county schools. He was a welder and pipefitter with CSI in Pineville, N.C.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia M. Gaston; three daughters, Kristin DeeAnn Gaston, Ashli Kindall Gaston and Kalyn Denise Gaston, all of Chester; his father, James R. Gaston Sr. of Lyman; his mother, Sandra Copeland of Chester; his stepparents, Claude and Rosa Lee Patrick; his brother, James A. Patrick of Crawford, Ga.; and his sister, Brandy D. Banks of Chester.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Steven Kimbrell
GREAT FALLS - Mr. Steven Lee Kimbrell, 45, of 2327 Brian Christopher Road, formerly of Rock Hill, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
Mr. Kimbrell was a self-employed contractor, a veteran of the Army and Navy, and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lancaster.
Surviving are his half-brother, Martin Kimbrell Jr. of Rock Hill; and his caregivers, George and Lucy Rollings of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends at the home of George and Lucy Rollings, 4255 York Highway, Rock Hill.
Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 1140 Curtis St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Gertrude Norkett
MOORESVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Gertrude Guffey Norkett, 86, of Whitman Circle died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cavin Funeral Home, with the Revs. Allen Reid and Ralph Robinette officiating. Burial will be at Huntersville First Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Norkett was a retired inspector with Bridgeport Fabrics in Davidson, N.C., and was a member of Whitman Park Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, Charles Craig Norkett of Fort Mill; two daughters, Kathleen Norkett Batchelor of Mooresville and Dorothy Norkett Collins of Troutman, N.C.; her sister, Sally Guffey Greene of Gastonia, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cavin Funeral Home.

Paul Robinson
LANCASTER - Mr. Paul Plaxco Robinson, 81, of 701 W. Barr St. died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Gilbert Rowell and the Rev. Dr. Roy Beckham officiating. Burial will be at Westside Cemetery.
Born in Lancaster, Mr. Robinson graduated from Erskine College. He managed D.L. Robinson Jewelers for 30 years and was postmaster in the Lancaster area for 18 years. He was a 70-year member of the First ARP Church and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Georgie Stone Robinson; three sons, George Stone Robinson of Womelsdorf, Pa., David Richard Robinson of Atlanta, and Paul Plaxco Robinson of Lancaster; his daughter, Greta R. Cureton of Lancaster; two brothers, Robert Mack Robinson of Due West and David Lester Robinson of Lancaster; two sisters, Margaret Smith of Donalds and Sara Hagins of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Memorials may be made to the First ARP Church missionary endowment fund, P.O. Box 864, Lancaster, SC 29721.
Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Billie Threatt
LANCASTER - Mr. Billie Perry Threatt, 83, of 1531 Ruth St. died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stuart Snow officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Born in Camden, Mr. Threatt was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of West Side Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Iva Sistare Threatt; his son, Daniel P. Threatt of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, and at other times at 2422 S. Driftwood Lane.

Donald Barrett
JEFFERSON - Mr. Donald Clayton Barrett, 34, of 1638 McBee Highway died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Brian Bird, Donald Barrett and Steve Neal officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in Lancaster, Mr. Barrett was employed by ATI.
Surviving are two sons, D. Brandon Barrett and Daniel C. Barrett, both of Jefferson; his daughter, Kayela Nicole Barrett of Jefferson; his parents, Claude J. and Frances D. Barrett of Jefferson; and two brothers, Clint W. Barrett and Mitchell W. Barrett, both of Kershaw.
The family will receive friends at the home of C.W. and Polly Barrett, 1624 McBee Highway.

Donald Boozer Sr.
LAKE WYLIE - Mr. Donald Ray Boozer Sr., 66, of 4220 Waters Edge died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Jack officiating.
Born in Joanna, Mr. Boozer was a Marine veteran. He was in the confectionery industry until he retired in July 1996.
Surviving are his wife, Sara H. Boozer of the home; his son, Don Boozer Jr. of Charlotte; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home after the memorial service.
