Dorris Melton

KERSHAW - Ms. Dorris Evelyn Melton, 51, of 6095 Kershaw Camden Highway died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Oakhurst Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Rogers officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Ms. Melton was employed at Springs Grace Bleachery. She was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church, where she was active as a GA leader and choir member. She participated as a sports mom with the Lancaster County Recreation Department soccer and baseball team.

Surviving are her daughter, Cassy Shontale Melton of Kershaw; her son, Aaron Ky Melton of Kershaw; and three brothers, Douglas Melton of Cayce, LeHugh Melton of Monroe, N.C., and Doyle Roach of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1142, Lancaster, SC 29721 or to Connie Maxwell Childrens Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648.

James Richardson

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Worth Richardson, 73, of 617 Rose St. died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Mike Lowery officiating.

Mr. Richardson was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. He was a member of West End Baptist Church.

Surviving are his uncle and several cousins.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church Building Fund, 1727 McConnells Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Ned Sistare

LANCASTER - Mr. Ned Sistare, 78, of 173 Coot Sistare Road died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Coker and Donald Coppedge officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Sistare was a retired truck driver for Gulf Oil. He was an U.S. Army veteran, a member of Wannamaker Masonic Lodge No. 329 and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Effie Thompson Sistare; his son, Kenneth E. Sistare of Giddings, Texas; two daughters, Lavilla Sistare Faulkenberry and Judy Sistare Willis, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Jasper Ray Sistare and Jerry Junior Sistare, both of Lancaster; three sisters, Leedell B. Funderburk and Nada Elizabeth Funderburk, both of Lancaster, and Mary Jewell Humphries of Fort Lawn; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1841 North Rocky River Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Charles Steele

LANCASTER - Mr. Charles Henry Steele, 65, of 1814 Zion Road died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Zion United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Frank Lybrand and Eric Lewis officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Steele was a retired machinist with Morrison Textile Machinery. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Aldridge Steele; his son, Dennis Steele of Lancaster; two daughters, Wendy Davis of Lancaster and Tammy Lewis of Charlotte; two brothers, Raeford Steele and Wayne Steel, both of Lancaster; and his sister, Ruby Steele of Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 1665 Zion Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

W. Park Thomson

SHARON - Mr. W. Park Thomson, 80, of 2367 Thomson Quarter Road died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Wallace Thompson Hospital in Union.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Thomson was a farmer. He was on the board of directors of First Citizens Bank in Sharon. He was a former board member of York General Hospital. He was a former deacon and elder of Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Wells Thomson; his son, William Russell Thomson of Sharon; his daughter, Harriet T. Farish of Gaffney; his brother, Richard D. Thomson of Gaffney; two sisters, Margaret T. Carr and Willie T. Brown, both of Gaffney; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church building fund, 7386 Lockhart Road, Sharon, SC 29742.

Sallie Williams

FORT MILL - Mrs. Sallie Williams, 79, of 911 Steele St. died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, with Brother L.W. Edwards officiating and the Revs. M.N. Baxter and Ezell Williams assisting. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery,

Mrs. Williams attended the Chester County schools. She was retired from Unity Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Mount Zion Church Church of God, where she served on the missionary board. She was the widow of Willie D. Williams.

Surviving are six sons, William Williams Jr. of Fort Washington, Md., Andrea Douglas of Greensboro, N.C., David Williams of San Antonio, Texas, Samuel A. Williams of Fort Mill, the Rev. Ezell Williams of Anchorage, Alaska, and Max C. Williams of San Mateo, Calif.; five daughters, Alberta Barnette of Charlotte, Sallie White and Darlene Strait, both of Fort Mill, and Doris Steele and Margaret W. Caldwell, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Saylor Peterson of Baltimore, and Sammie Peterson of Fort Mill; and her sister, Ella Ree Jordan of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 34 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church and at other times at the home.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Richard Young Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. Richard Young Sr., 70, of 130 Mill St. died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at his home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home.

Clarence Baker

LANCASTER - Mr. Clarence Baker, 75, of 1649 Ruth St. died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, with the Revs. David Andrews and Wayne Snipes officiating. Burial will be at the Fork Creek Methodist Church Cemetery in Jefferson.

Mr. Baker was retired from J.P. Stevens and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Earline Baker; two daughters, Carolyn Snipes and Joyce Rutledge, both of Lancaster; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

The Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel is in charge.
