Blanche Becknell

YORK - Mrs. Blanche Wallace Becknell, 94, formerly of 153 Charlotte St., died Friday, June 12, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Correll Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Becknell was a retired weaver from Cannon Mill. She was the widow of T. Oscar Becknell. She was a member of the Ladies Bible class at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son, Ray Becknell of Rock Hill; three daughters, Evelyn Becknell Blair of York, and Ann Becknell Adkins and Gladys Becknell Blake, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Thelma Wallace and Ruby Wallace Fleming, both of Rock Hill; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at York Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Evelyn B. Blair, 300 Simrill Ave., York.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 376, York, SC 29745.

Mary Dewese

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Belle Dewese, 84, of 629 Harrison St. died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Kiser officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery,

Mrs. Dewese was retired from York General Hospital as a housekeeper. She was a native of Fairfield County. She was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church, where she was on the Usher Board, and was a member of the AP&B Society. She was a member of Living Beauty Temple No. 709 and a former Eastern Star. She was a member of the Rock Hill Senior Citizens Center.

Surviving are two sons, Maceo Dewese of Newark, N.J., and Robert Dewese of Irvington, N.J.; her daughter, May F. Dewese Simpson of Englewood, N.J.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Funeral Home.

The body will placed in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The family will be at the home of James and Mattie Odom, 356 Arnold St., Rock Hill.

Alberta Ferrell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Alberta Canty Ferrell, 68, of 1466 Mount Gallant Road died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward, with Bishop Scott Garbett, Chief Gilbert Blue and Milton Osborn officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ferrell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward. She was employed for 23 years at Everlock in Pineville, N.C. She was a Catawba potter.

Surviving are her husband, Jack F. Ferrell; her stepmother, Virginia Canty of Rock Hill; three daughters, Marsha F. Byrd of the home and Denise F. Nichols and Lorna F. Harris, both of Rock Hill; four brothers, Alonzo Canty Jr., Wallace Canty and Eric Canty, all of Rock Hill, and Edwin Canty of Catawba; eight sisters, Helen Beck, Frances Wade, Thelma Hendrix, Geneva Gunton, Betty Driggers and Judy Driggers, all of Rock Hill, Joyce Green of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Diane Petrini of St. Charles, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward, 2430 Indian Trail, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Grace Foxx

GASTONIA, N.C. - Grace Elizabeth Creasman Foxx, 78, of 6135 Lewis Road died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Rustic Hill Baptist Church, Bessemer City, N.C., with the Revs. Wayne Kirk, Henry Moose and James Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Westview Gardens in Bessemer City, N.C.

Mrs. Foxx was a homemaker and member of Rustic Hill Baptist Church. A native of Greenville, Tenn., she was the widow of Ernest Foxx.

Surviving are three sons, Buster Foxx and Jimmy Foxx, both of Gastonia and Russell Foxx of Fort Mill; her sister, Willa Belle Greene of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Service Westside Chapel and at other times at the home.

James Gore

CHESTER - Mr. James Allen "Brother" Gore, 75, of 107 Stewart St. died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at Providence Medical Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.G. Boulware officiating and the Revs. William A. Chisholm and David Walker assisting. Burial will be in the Sandy River Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Gore was retired from Springs Industries with 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he served on the Trustee Board. He attended Finley Senior High School in Chester.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Janie Walton Gore; two sons, James Edward Gore II and George Allen Gore, both of Chester; his daughter, Cathy Thompson of Heath Springs; his brother, Edward Gore of Chester; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. at Gore's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be taken to the church at noon Sunday.

Memorials can be made to the window fund at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 176 Center St., Chester, SC 29706.

Edward Mosley

LANCASTER - Mr. Edward Thomas "Butch" Mosley, 59, of 1050 15th St. died Friday, June 12, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Sollers officiating.

Mr. Mosley was formerly employed by J.P. Stevens Co. He attended the schools of Lancaster County.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Mae Bennett Mosley; his son, Scooter Mosley of Great Falls; two stepdaughters, Tracy Hensley of Lancaster and Rachel Sims of Great Falls; five brothers, Joe Mosley of Lancaster, Marion Funderburk of Barnwell, and Donald Funderburk, Hazel Funderburk and Ronny Funderburk, all of Great Falls; four sisters, Nancy M. Blackmon of Lancaster, Nancy F. Price of Fort Lawn, Marcine Roberts of Great Falls and Diane King of Columbia; and three grandchildren.

Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home is in charge.

Nathaniel Williams Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. Nathaniel Williams Sr., 51, of 102 Caldwell St. died Friday, June 12, 1998, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Gore's Funeral Home.

The family is at the home of his mother, Martha M. Williams, 103 Caldwell St., Chester.
