Fred Chavis

INDIAN LAND - Mr. Fred "Wild Man" Chavis, 47, of 7807 Henry Harris Road died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Blessed Hope Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jamie Coley and Kenneth Pressley officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls.

A native of Hamlet, N.C., Mr. Chavis was employed with McClancy Seasoning Corp. He was an avid go kart enthusiast, who held state and national championships in the World Karting Association and also was a member of ASAI.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Coan Chavis; his son, Andrew Wright of Indian Land; three daughters, Missy Dietrich and Tina Dabbs, both of Indian Land, and Robin Blackmon of Jefferson; his brother, William Chavis of Swansea; two sisters, Jewel Powell of Gaston and Elizabeth Grooms of Chesterfield; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2535 Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to the charity of one's choice.

Frank Griffith

ROCK HILL - Mr. Frank Marvin Griffith, 81, of McConnells Highway died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Revs. W. Timothy McClendon and Linda B. Dunn officiating.

Mr. Griffith was retired from Celanese with 40 years of service. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and was an avid gardener. He was the widower of Dorothy Watson Griffith.

Surviving are two sons, Walter Frank Griffith of Gastonia, N.C., and Michael Watson Griffith of Rock Hill; his daughter, Joy Sue Griffith Farrell of Spring, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Michael and Brenda Griffith, 930 Adnah Church Road.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 149, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or the York County Library in memory of Frank Griffith, P.O. Box 10032, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Lonzo Forbes

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Lonzo B. Forbes, 83, of 104 Woodland Ave. died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery in Ellenboro, N.C., with the Rev. Joe Forbes officiating.

A native of Rutherford County, N.C., Mr. Forbes was retired from the Great Falls Police Department and the Chester County Sheriff's Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He was educated in Rutherford County schools and a member of the Great Falls Masonic Lodge No. 277 and the American Legion.

Survivors include his daughter, Kay F. Evans of Great Falls; two sisters, Edna Fowler of Rock Hill and Stella Wells of Great Falls; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Great Falls Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 371, Great Falls, SC 29055.

Nathanial Williams

CHESTER - The funeral for Mr. Nathanial Williams, 51, of 102 Caldwell St., who died Friday, June 12, 1998, at Palmetto Baptist Hospital, will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Chester, with the Rev. Charles Pratt officiating, and the Revs. E. Vance, Joe Lewis Lee and Ronald McClurkin assisting.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Williams; his son, Nathanial Williams of Chester; his mother, Martha Williams of Chester; five brothers, William Mills, Curtis Williams, James Williams and Donald Williams, all of Chester, and Andrew Williams of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and five sisters, Mary McVay, Izetta Williams, Iola Williams, Druscilla Williams and Easter Mae Wylie, all of Chester.

The body will lie in state at the church from 2 p.m. Tuesday until the service.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 9 tonight at Gore's Funeral Home.

Samuel Dalhouse

SPARTANBURG - Samuel Pollock Dalhouse, 74, of 121 Sunline Place died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fernwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. P. Randall Wright officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Dalhouse was a graduate of Atlanta Boys School and Auburn University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He retired from GMAC in 1982 after 34 years service. He was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the finance committee, a deacon, Sunday school secretary and a member of the Pioneer Sunday school class. He was a naval aviator in World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Gesner Dalhouse; his son, Samuel David Dalhouse of Rock Hill; two daughters, Deborah Leigh Dalhouse of Clemson and Mary Jane Dalhouse Michels of Spartanburg; his sister, Mrs. Larry Hailey of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fernwood Baptist Church building fund, 200 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Charles Fisher

ROCK HILL - Mr. Charles A. "Charlie" Allen Fisher, 39, of 3587 Mount Gallant Road died Saturday, June 13, 1998, in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marcy Funeral Home in Conneaut, Ohio. Burial will be at Kelloggsville Cemetery.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Friday at Lakeside Bar and Grill in Rock Hill.

Mr. Fisher was owner of Charlie's Automotive, where he specialized in rebuilding auto transmissions. He attended Conneaut schools and served in the Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Coulton Fisher; three sons, Charles Allen Fisher II of Chester, Sean Coulton Fisher and James Richard Fisher, both of the home; two daughters, Jessica Louise Fisher of Chester and Amanda Lynn Fisher of the home; his parents, Audrey and Joseph Specht of Conneaut; three brothers, Rick Specht of Conneaut and Joseph Specht of Round Lake Beach, Ill., and Jeffrey Specht of Bellevue, Ohio; and four sisters, Mary Specht of Mansfield, Ohio, Cheri Nadolny of Elgin, Sonia Haynes of Columbus, Ohio, and Julie Bidwell of Conneaut.

Marcy Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Earl Jordan

ROCK HILL - Mr. Earl Jordan, 69, of 2506 Celanese Road died Monday, June 15, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at West End Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mike Lowery and Larry Gregory officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Jordan retired from Suburban Propane after 24 years. He was a member of West End Baptist Church for more than 40 years, where he was active in the prison ministry, and was a Sunday school teacher, deacon and chairman of the pastor search committee.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his daughter, Debbie Ghent of Rock Hill; his stepdaughter, Donna S. Patterson of Fort Mill; three stepsons, Samuel E. Smith of Rock Hill, Ben M. Smith III of Chicago and Tony M. Denton of Edgewater, Fla.; three brothers, Willard Jordan, Fred Jordan and Bill Jordan, all of Rock Hill; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and his step great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church building fund, 1727 McConnells Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
