Franklin Love II

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Franklin Sadler Love II, 82, of Sharon Towers, 5100 Sharon Road, died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Harry and Bryant Co., with the Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Committal will be private.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Love was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and Presbyterian College. He served in the Army during World War II and rose to the rank of captain.

Mr. Love was employed by the American Textile Manufacturers Institute, where he served as secretary/treasurer. As a Charlotte resident, he was a director of the Charlotte Council on Alcoholism and of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, a member of the Goodfellows Club, president of the Charlotte Rotary Club and the Carolinas Chapter of the Defense Supply Association.

In 1973, he moved to the Lake Norman area. He was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church in Denver, N.C., and worked with Meals on Wheels for 10 years. He was a former member of Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church, where he served as president of the Joe E. Boston Bible Class, and was deacon and church treasurer.

Surviving are his wife, Jessie Huggins Love; two sons, Franklin Sadler Love III of Columbus, N.C., and Glenn Howell Love of Charlotte; two daughters, Judy Love Freeman of Atlanta and Beverly Love Sparrow of Greenville, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Resident's Association Fund of Sharon Towers, 5100 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC 28210 or to Unity Presbyterian Church, 8210 Unity Church Road, Denver, NC 28037.

Leola Lyles

BALTIMORE - Mrs. Leola Wright Lyles of Baltimore, formerly of Chester, died Friday, June 12, 1998, in Baltimore.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roosevelt Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Baltimore.

Mrs. Lyles was a member of the New Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and attended public schools in Maryland.

Surviving are her husband, Eli Lyles; five sons, all of Baltimore; her daughter of Baltimore; and her sister of Baltimore; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

King's Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Rachel McDonald

FORT MILL - Mrs. Rachel "Rochelle" Meacham Arthur McDonald, 73, formerly of Louisville, Ky., died Monday, June 15, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wolfe Funeral Home. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Charlotte, Mrs. McDonald was a homemaker and a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.

Surviving are two sons, Robert P. Arthur III of Concord and Charles F. McDonald Jr. of York; two brothers, Don Meacham of Fort Mill and Jack Meacham of Leeds, Ala.; and her sister, Pat Reynolds Brown of Stanley, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her brother, Don Meacham, 1290 Hensley Road, Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to the White Oak Manor patient fund, 1915 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to the Speech and Hearing Center of York and Chester Counties, 1721-11 Ebenezer Road, Suite 225, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Ruth McGill

CLOVER - Mrs. Ruth Dale McGill, 89, of 1535 North S.C. 161 died Monday, June 15, 1998, at the home of her daughter.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakdale Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. George L. McGill Jr. and Buckner Malcolm officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. McGill was a homemaker and the widow of George L. McGill Sr. She was an honorary life member of the Presbyterian Women and a charter member of Oakdale Presbyterian Church. She was the church organist and taught church school for many years.

Surviving are her son, the Rev. George L. McGill Jr. of Spartanburg; two daughters, Mrs. Jack Westmoreland and Mrs. Terry Morrison, both of Clover; her sister, Mrs. John Wilbourne of Marion, Ala; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home, and Mrs. McGill will be returned to the home.

Memorials may be made to Oakdale Presbyterian Church, 12585 West S.C. Highway 55, Clover, SC 28710 or Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Katherine McLaughlin

COVINGTON, Va. - Mrs. Katherine Patterson McLaughlin, 80, of 415 E. Fairlawn Drive died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Liberty House Nursing Home in Clifton Forge, Va.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James A. Rohne officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. McLaughlin was a member of First Presbyterian Church Women of the Church and Circle No. 2. She was a graduate of National Business College in Roanoke and enjoyed sports. She was a former Cub Scout den mother.

She was employed by the Selective Service System for Allegheny County and Covington area for many years. She retired from the Social Security Administration in 1977.

Surviving are her husband, Julian Madison McLaughlin; two sons, Julian M. "Mac" McLaughlin Jr. of Rock Hill and Stephen Wade McLaughlin of Roanoke, Va.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Loving Funeral Home in Covington.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 185 North Maple Ave., Covington, VA 24426.

Betti Monk

CLOVER - Mrs. Betti Sue Thewlis Monk, 51, of 6384 Four Knight Road died Monday, June 15, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Burleson officiating.

Mrs. Monk was employed by D & K Laminex Inc. in Charlotte.

Surviving are her husband, Tommy Lee Monk; two sons, Timmy Lee Monk of Belmont, N.C., and Thomas Christopher Monk of York; her daughter, Tammy Kristine Monk of Myrtle Beach; five brothers, Harold Thewlis of Sullivan, Ohio, Bob Thewlis of Morgantown, Ohio, Freddy Thewlis and Kenny Thewlis, both of Medina, Ohio, and David Thewlis of Grafton, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Grady Ogle

CLOVER - Mr. Grady Eugene "Gene" Ogle, 62, of 2339 Justin Drive died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Collins officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Ogle was a retired machine operator.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Porter Ogle; two sons, Glenn A. Ogle of Blacksburg and Gene Howard Ogle of Clover; three sisters, Ellen Burton and Faye Ogle, both of Carrollton, Va., and Katherine Spires; and his grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home and at other times at 157 Hambright Road, Clover.
