Jason Workman

ROCK HILL - Jason Edward Workman, 12, of 725 N. Jones Ave. died Sunday, June 14, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Dewey Wise officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Jason was a seventh-grader at Sullivan Middle School and loved all types of sports.

Surviving are his parents, Danny F. and Cathy Price Workman; his brother, William C. Workman of the home; two sisters, Ashley Marie Workman and Melissa Daniell Workman, both of the home; his paternal grandmother, Geraldine Cook of Rock Hill; his maternal grandparents, Loyd and Frances Price of Fort Mill; and his paternal great-grandmothers, Louise T. Stone of Valdosta, Ga., and Addie Mae Cook of Aiken.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his grandmother, Geraldine Cook, 1005 Clarkson St., Rock Hill.

John Barnes

EDGEMOOR - Mr. John T. "Hoss" Barnes, 59, of 4510 Wylie Mill Road died Monday, June 15, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Vernon AME Zion Church, with the Rev. J.E. Johnson officiating and the Rev. Ronal King assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Barnes was a member of Mount Vernon AME Zion Church. He attended Chester County public schools. He was a retired flasher attendant at Springs Industries Katherine Plant.

Surviving are his son, Michael D. Robinson of Fort Lawn; his stepdaughter, Alesia Robinson of Fort Lawn; two brothers, Eddie Barnes and Marion Barnes, both of Edgemoor; five sisters, Margaret Holloway of Bridgeport, Conn., Lilllian Boulware of Chester, Julia Cousar of Fort Lawn, Lugenia Cherry and Lillie Mae Durham, both of Edgemoor; two nieces whom he reared, Genette Horton of Edgemoor and Linda Wilson of Fort Lawn.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from noon to 9 tonight at King's Funeral Home.

The body will taken to the church at 2 p.m. Friday.

Janie Boyd

KERSHAW - Mrs. Janie Lee Harrell Boyd, 62, of 209 S. Matson St. died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bryant D. Fersner officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

A homemaker, Mrs. Boyd was a member of First Baptist Church, where she attended the Ruth Sunday school class.

Surviving are her husband, Harry L. Boyd; her son, Michael B. Boyd of Columbia; two daughters, Paula Sinclair of Lancaster and Kelly J. Boyd of Kershaw; eight grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 67, Kershaw, SC 29067.

Mary Brice

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary "May Hight" Patterson Brice of 1127 Calhoun St. died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Pineville AME Church, with the Rev. Eugene Goodman officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Brice was a native of York County. She was a member of Pineville AME Zion Church, where she was a deaconess, a member of the usher board, musical choir, dining hall committee, Sunday school class, New Hope Burial Aid Society, Stewardess Board No. 3, and Parent Body Missionary Society. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her son, John Henry Brice Jr. of Rock Hill; six daughters, Joyce Ann Brice of the home, and Rosie B. Hyman, Cynthia B. Robinson, Carolyn Brice, Tina Brice, and Katherine Patterson, all of Rock Hill; her stepdaughter, Phillis Perry of Rock Hill; three brothers, Dewitt Patterson, Buster Patterson, and Wardell Patterson, all of Rock Hill; two sisters, Alice Patterson and Annie Faye Patterson, both of Rock Hill; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at 817 Finley Road.

The body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Nancy Britt

GARDEN CITY - Mrs. Nancy M Britt, 54, of Garden City, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Malvern Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Britt was retired from civil service and was the owner of Britt Business Service. She was a member of the National Society of Public Accountants, American Society of Military Comptrollers and the National Association of Female Executives.

Surviving are her mother, Nelle Pace Moseley of Camden and Rock Hill; her son, William Joseph Hagins Jr. of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Amanda Maraie Pennington of Rock Hill and Sandra Renee Clifford of Surfside; two brothers, William Pace Moseley of Rock Hill and Robert Capers Moseley of North Augusta; her sister, Suzie Moseley Cantrell of Camden and Myrtle Beach; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 411, Camden, SC 29020.

Helen Bryant

FORT MILL - Mrs. Helen Baily Bryant, 83, of 116 E. Summersby St., died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Unity Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dan Holloway officiating. Burial will be at 5 p.m. at Montivista Cemetery in Bluefield, W.Va.

Mrs. Bryant attended Concord College in Athens, W.Va., and retired as a school teacher from Bluefield, W.Va. She later moved to Fort Mill, where she was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church and the Fort Mill Golf Club.

Surviving are her husband, John Wesley Bryant Jr.; and her caretaker and friend, Willie Walker of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Memorials may be made to the Unity Presbyterian Nutrition Center, P.O. Box 1267, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Ralph Davis

LANCASTER - Mr. Ralph Plyler Davis, 56, of 705 W. Barr St. died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Covenant Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bert Welch officiating. Burial will be at West Side Cemetery.

Mr. Davis was a member of Covenant Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Faile Davis; his stepson, David Truesdale of Kershaw; his stepdaughter, Beverly Culp of Lancaster; his mother, Sue Plyer Davis of Lancaster; his brother, Robert Victor "Bob" Davis Jr. of Orangeburg; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Covenant Baptist Church, 165 Craig Manor Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.
