Loma Kate Glenn

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Loma Kate Young Glenn of 1330 India Hook Road died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at Westminster Towers Health Center.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. W. Timothy McClendon officiating.

A native of Camden, Mrs. Glenn was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Winthrop College.

Mrs. Glenn was a retired school teacher and librarian. She taught at Concord city schools in Concord, N.C., and at Northside Elementary School in Rock Hill. She was librarian at Belleview and Oakdale Elementary schools in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her son, Robert H. Glenn Jr. of Rock Hill; her daughter, Victoria G. Gallman of Lake Wylie; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. today at Westminster Towers Community Room.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church building fund or library fund, P.O. Box 149, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Marina McCullough

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Marina Loretta McCullough, 67, of 826 S. Confederate St. died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. today at Nazareth Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Charles White-Kiser officiating. The funeral will be Tuesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Boonton, N.J. Burial will be in Boonton, N.J.

Mrs. McCullough was retired from the Mennan Corp. in Morristown, N.J. She was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church in Rock Hill and Mount Zion Baptist Church in Boonton, N.J. She served on the hymn choir at both churches and was a member of Eastern Star in Morristown, N.J.

Surviving are her husband, Ben McCullough Jr.; four sons, Tryone McCullough of Morristown, N.J., Michael Randall McCullough of Durham, N.C., Benny McCullough of Atlanta and Fabian McCullough of Rock Hill; three daughters, Gretcheline Smith of East Point, Ga., and Brenda Lee Hinnant and Donna Lee Nelson, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Phillip A. Thomas of Longwood, Md., and Russell L. Thomas of Stanford, Conn.; eight sisters, Elvira Miller, Margaret Thomas, and Mary Catherine Thomas, all of Easton, Md., Marion Patrick of Bridgeport, Conn., Meredith D. Henry of McDaniels, Md., Constance R. Morris and Sarah E. Lindsay, both of Philadelphia, and Nannie Mae Boulden of Belleville, Md.; and 19 grandchildren.

The body will be taken to the church at noon today.

Parker Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Thomas Funeral Home in Philadelphia is in charge out-of-town arrangements.

Willie McMullen

CATAWBA - The Rev. Willie J. "Billy" McMullen, 55, of 227 Harmony Hill Drive died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Foundation AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Daran Mitchell officiating. The Right Rev. Joseph Johnson will give the eulogy. The Revs. W. O. Thompson, Carl A. Glenn, Mary L. Adams, Charles Crockett and Leroy Ellison will assist. Burial will be in the Rehoboth AME Zion Church cemetery.

The Rev. McMullen was the former pastor of Indian Hill AME Zion Church. He joined the Rehoboth AME Zion Church at an early age and later joined Foundation AME Zion Church and Center Emmanuel AME Zion Church. He was a former textile supervisor at Manetta Mills in Lando, where he was employed more than 20 years. He was a 1963 graduate of Finley High School. He attended Teamers School of Religion and York Technical College.

Surviving are his wife, Mary F. McMullen; three daughters, Jaqueline Moore and Tiffany Moore, both of the home, and Deborah Howze of Rock Hill; his sisters, Betty Jean Peay of Chester; two brothers, Thaddeus McFadden of Charlotte and Columbus Nathaniel Peay of Chester; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at King's Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Monday.

Father Paul Proodian

ROCK HILL - Father Paul Proodian, 75, of The Oratory died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Meadowhaven Nursing Home.

A funeral Mass will be noon Monday at The Oratory, the Church of Our Lady & St. Philip Neri, with Father Joseph Wahl officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Detroit, Father Proodian graduated from St. Mary's College in Kentucky and St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana and then received his master's in counseling from Iona College in New York. He began his service on March 27, 1951. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force.

Surviving are his sister, Theresa Vartanian of McLean, Va.

A vigil service will be 8 p.m. Sunday at The Oratory, The Church of Our Lady & St. Philip Neri, followed with a visitation.

Memorials may be made to The Oratory, 434 Charlotte Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Alpha Tinsley

EASLEY - Mrs. Alpha Dockins Sutton Tinsley, 70, of 206 McBee Ave. died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Broadus Moody officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.

Mrs. Tinsley was a homemaker and a member of Greer Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Ballard Tinsley; two sons, Daniel O. Sutton of Rock Hill and R. Fred Sutton of Easley; two sisters, Evelyn D. Norman of Greenville and Jessie Mae Moss of Gainesville, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home in Easley.

Memorials may be made to the Boys Home of York County, 3210 Neely Store Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Donald Anderson

LAKE WYLIE - Mr. Donald Carl Anderson, 79, of 30 Catawba Ridge Court, died Sept. 4, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the River Hills Community Church with Dr. Clark Hunt and Rev. Russell Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was a native of Waukegan, Ill. After attending Northwestern University, he served in the 9th Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1947 as an air control officer in the European theater, attaining the rank of major. After his discharge from the military, he worked for 42 years with the Cyclone Fence Division of U.S. Steel. He retired to Lake Wylie, volunteering for the Good Neighbor Panty in Clover and the Lions Club, which he was a member of for over 40 years.

Surviving are his wife Margaret Anderson; his son, Harry Anderson of Gallatin, Tenn.; his brother, Richard Anderson of Apopka, Fla.; his sister, Louise A. Dietmeger of Waukegan; and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the River Hills Community Church, 104 Hamilton's Ferry Road, Lake Wylie, S.C. 29710 or to Hospice Community Care, 325 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, S.C. 29732.

York Funeral Home is in charge.

Patricia Bryant

ROCK HILL - Ms. Patricia Wood Bryant, 52, of 427 Hope St., died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Greene Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. David E. Jennings officiating. Burial will be private.

Ms. Bryant worked at Wal-Mart for six years and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her daughter, Pam Dantzler of Rock Hill; her sister, Helen Wood Thrower of Fort Mill; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Greene Funeral Home and at the home.
