Naida Holmes

KERSHAW - Mrs. Naida Evelyn Jennings Holmes, 90, of 4714 Catawba Road died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Holmes was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the Diamond City United Methodist Church in Arkansas, where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member and former president of the women's society. She was the widow of Samuel Spencer Holmes.

Surviving are her son, Mickey "Alan" Holmes of Womelsdorf, Penn.; her daughter, Eleanor Lowery of Kershaw; her sister, Florence Besh of Cedar Falls, Iowa; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Eleanor Lowery, 4714 Catawba Road.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Jane Poovey

LANCASTER - Mrs. Jane Buie Poovey of North White Street died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Mercy Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Poovey was the retired office manager for Art's Engraving Co. in Charlotte. She was the widow of Roscoe Spray Poovey.

Surviving are her son, John Marcellous Poovey of Lancaster; her daughter, Jane Elizabeth Poovey of Lancaster; her sister, Mrs. Jack Forrester of Houston; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

Memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250.

Janie Sibley

DETROIT - Mrs. Janie Bell Barber Sibley, 86, of 2626 Butternut Court died Saturday, June, 13, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rehoboth AME Zion Church in Chester, with the Rev. W.H. Woods Jr. officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Sibley was a member of the Rehoboth AME Zion Church. She attended Carter CME Church in Brooklyn, Mich. She was a retired domestic worker and was the widow of Tom Sibley.

Surviving are her goddaughter whom she reared, Beatrice Sibley of Rock Hill; and her cousin who was her caretaker, Frances Allen of Detroit.

The family receive friends at the home of Essie Neal, 3644 Crockett Road in Lando.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

King's Funeral Home is in charge.

Peggy Strickland

JEFFERSON - Mrs. Peggy Ann Bowers Strickland, 61, of 5297-B Eubanks Road died Tuesday, June, 16, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at the Abney Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Plyler, James Reppart and Mendel Baker officiating.

Mrs. Strickland was a member of Abney Baptist Church and was a nurse's aide.

Surviving are her sister, Idell Dunn of Kershaw; and her special friend, Henry Cranford of Kershaw.

Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Mount Pisgah Rescue Squad, 2099 John Munn Road, Jefferson, SC 29715.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert Threatt Sr.

FORT MILL - Mr. Robert Thomas Threatt Sr., 65, of 300 Jackson St. died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jimmy Parrish officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Mr. Threatt was retired from Springs Industries after 38 years of service. He was a native of Chester.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Frances Threatt; his daughter, Diana Threatt Faulkner of Clover; his son, Robert T. Threatt Jr. of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the the home, 300 Jackson St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Mozell Hemphill

YORK - Mrs. Mozell Brown Hemphill, 75, of 19 Center St. died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at New Home AME Zion Church, with the Rev. C.J. Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hemphill was a retired custodian and cafeteria worker for the York school district. She was the widow of Julius "Tot" Hemphill. She was educated in York Countypublic schools and joined Clinton Chapel AME Zion at an early age. She later joined New Home AME Zion Church, where she was active in the Missionary Society, the Stewardess Board No. 2, The Willing Workers Club and the Hymn Choir.

Surviving are her adopted son, Robert Isom of the home; and her sister, Mamie Isom of York.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church and at other times at the home.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Home.

Ruth Kemnitzer

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ruth Irene Kretzer Kemnitzer, 91, died Thursday, June 18, 1997, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 7:30 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Kemnitzer was the widow of George Theodore Kemnitzer and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Assembly of God faith.

Surviving are her daughter, Betty Jane Mutzig of Rock Hill; and her granddaughter, Linda Mutzig of Fort Mill.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.
