Willie Barnes

CHESTER - Mr. Willie Barnes of 128 Lancaster St. died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at the Brian Center in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, with the Rev. Terrance Grooms of Mount Moriah Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Old Providence Cemetery.

Mr. Barnes was a member of Christian Home Baptist Church.

Survivors include his niece of Chester.

The family will receive friends at the home of his great-nephew Frank Nash, 128 Lancaster St.

Patsy Botelho

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Patsy Ruth Botelho, 71, of 220 Hutchinson St. died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at her home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Ray Mohrmann officiating.

Ms. Botelho was an office manager for Reid Gas Inc. and a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Jane Clawson Wright.

Surviving are her son, Darren Botelho of Prairie Village, Kan.; two daughters, Pattie Sizemore of Rock Hill and Paula Dail of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Ola Strait of Galivants Ferry and Katherine Elliot of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Vance Cauthen

LANCASTER - Mr. E. Vance Cauthen, 88, of Lancaster died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. today at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Revs. Roy Beckham and William Roberts officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Stanly Gardens of Memory, with the Rev. Wes Judy officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Cauthen was retired from Alcoa, where he was a member of the 25 Year Club. He was also a member of Badin United Methodist Church and a member of the Robert Hardister Sunday school Class. He served as the church's custodian for many years. Mr. Cauthen was the son of the late Lonnie Vance and Gertrude Beckham Cauthen.

Surviving are his brother, Waddell Cauthen of Albermarle, N.C.; and his sister, Nell Bell of Heath Springs.

The family will receive friends after the burial.

Memorials may be made to Badin United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 746, Badin, NC 28009, or to Pleasant Hill ARP Church, 4383 Kershaw Camden Highway, Heath Springs, SC 29058.

Richard Deese

LANCASTER - Mr. Richard Wayne Deese, 19, of 2169 Dover Lane died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Kevin Cooley and Brooks Walker officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Deese worked as a roofer.

Surviving are his parents, Timothy Wayne and Mary Crawford Deese of Lancaster; two brothers, Mr. David Boyce Ellis Jr. and Mr. Christopher Matthew Deese both of Lancaster; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Pat Deese of Lancaster; and his fiance, Miss Nikki Hollis of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends at the home Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church building fund, P.O. Box 418, Lancaster, SC 29721.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Leola Erby

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Leola Erby of 418 Williamson St., died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. today at Cross Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.E. Boulware officiating and Brother David Boone and the Rev. Archie Stover assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Erby was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church and a member of the church's hymn choir and missionary society. She was a former member of Sunset Park Mission Club, a member of Emanuel Burial Aid Society No. 15 and the A.P.B. Society No. 26. Mrs. Erby was a certified patient sitter.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary F. Williams of Rock Hill; her adopted brother, James L. Barnes of Rock Hill; and her grandson, Kenneth D. Erby, whom she reared.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today at Cross Road Baptist Church.

Macey James

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Miss Macey Delores James, 43, of 165 St. Mark's Place, Apt. 12E, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frederick H. Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Miss James attended Brooklyn, N.Y., public schools and was employed for 17 years with the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation in Staten Island.

Surviving are her mother, Ella Beatrice Burke of Staten Island; her daughter, Leah James of Staten Island; two brothers, Perry James of Queens and Claude Henderson of New York City; and her sister, Betty Joiner of Staten Island.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mrs. Callie Thompson, 313 Friendship Road, Rock Hill.

Ethel Johnson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ethel Cauthen Johnson, 92, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Rouse officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery in Heath Springs.

A native of Heath Springs, Mrs. Johnson worked as a waitress at the Elks Lodge in Rock Hill for more than 37 years. She was a Methodist and the daughter of the late John Sidney and Lucy Bowers Cauthen.

Surviving are her son, William F. "Scrap Iron" Johnson of Rock Hill; her brother, John Cauthen of Florida; two sisters, Nellie Owens and Emma Bush, both of Florida; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her son, William F. Johnson, 435 N. Confederate Ave., Rock Hill.
