Anthony Manes

LAKE WYLIE - Mr. Anthony E. "Tony" Manes, 65, of 4321 River Oaks Road died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kenneth C. Spitler officiating.

A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., Mr. Manes retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo, Ind., after 24 years. Afterward, he became a registered land surveyor in the Carolinas and enjoyed golfing. He attended Elmhurst High School and Purdue University.

Surviving are three sons, Ted Manes, Tim Manes and Dan Manes, all of Fort Mill; two daughters, Val Ingram of Greensboro, N.C., and Laurie Laney of Fort Mill; two brothers, Walter Manes of Fort Wayne and Dave Manes of Nashville, Tenn.; six sisters, Barbara Motz, Phyllis Lorenz, Jane VanHoozen and Mary Lou Jackson, all of Fort Wayne, Martha Jamison of Georgia and Jo Ann Graves of South Carolina; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to local chapters of the National Kidney Foundation or to the charity of one's choice.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Edna Myett

PHILADELPHIA - Mrs. Edna Ruth Sanders Myett, formerly of the Wilksburg community in Chester County, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at Chestnut Hill Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Kings' Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St.

Carol Phillips

KERSHAW - Mrs. Carol Watson Phillips, 81, of 120 E. Fourth Street St. died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Second Baptist Church, with the Revs. Hugh McKinney and Dr. Archie Neal officiating. Burial will be at the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips was a Heath Springs native. She was a homemaker and member of Second Baptist Church and its W.M.S.

Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 7737 Kershaw-Camden Highway, Kershaw, SC 29067.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary Reid

LANCASTER - Mrs. Mary E. "Jeannie" Reid, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Paul AME Church, with the Revs. Robert L. Cleckley and Nathaniel Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Reid was a retired employee of Lancaster Bakery. She was a member of St. Paul AME Church, where she was a class leader and in the choir. She was on the usher board, missionary and stewardess board and was a delegate to the Annual Conference. She also was a member of the Rose of Sharon Elk and Progressive Chapter No. 200, Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Reid was the daughter of the late Eugene and Katie Gamble McCoy.

Surviving are two sons Willie Reid of Rock Hill and George Micah Reid, of Lancaster; four daughters, Barbara Miller, Mary Green, Martha Cunningham and Sallie Church, all of Lancaster; two brothers, James McCoy and Andy Brown, both of Lancaster; and four sisters, Alethia McGriff and Arthur Mae Twitty, both of Lancaster, Katherine Coleman of Danville, Va., and Helen Montgomery of Buffalo, N.Y.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at McMullen Funeral Home, 403 Clinton Ave., Lancaster.

George Rollins

LANCASTER - Mr. George William "G.W." Rollins, 68, of 2864 Kirkover Drive died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crestview Baptist Church, with Drs. Steve Stewart and Mike Lewis officiating. Interment will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Rollins was retired from Springs Industries. He was a deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher at Crestview Baptist Church and also was a member of Woodman of the World and Alcoholics Anonymous.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Watts Rollins; his son, Donnie Rollins of Lancaster; two daughters, Brenda Lee of Sumter and Debra Slocum of Lancaster; his sister, Katie Adams of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church building fund, 228 Douglas Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Mamie Stewart

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mamie Barnette Stewart, 94, of 122 Wylie St. died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at home.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at New Mount Olivet AME Zion Church with the Rev. Sherman McBeth officiating.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Pendergrass and Frances Stewart, both of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William White

YORK - Mr. William Oscar White, 86, of York, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Central Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Culbertson officiating and the Rev. Ray Talley assisting. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Born in York, Mr. White was a weave room overseer for 56 years with Cannon Mills. He was a choir member and deacon at Central Baptist Church and was a member of the S.C. Defense Force in World War II. He enjoyed music and entertaining area nursing home residents.

Surviving are his wife, Odeesa McManus White; his son, Rick White of Rock Hill; his daughter, Peggy White Greening of Halifax, Nova Scotia; his brother, James Howard White of York; two sisters, Lucille White and Mae White Thomas, both of York; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to Central Baptist Church building fund, 110 Ross Cannon St., York, SC 29745, and the American Diabetes Association, National Center, 1660 Duke St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
