Frances Hough

LANCASTER - Mrs. Frances Bowen Hough, 81, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Revs. Shane Patrick and Roy Barnes officiating. Burial will be at Westside Cemetery.

Mrs. Hough was born in Oakway. She was a graduate of Winthrop University and a former teacher and coach at Lancaster High School. In 1943, she led the Blue Hurricanes girls basketball team to the state championship. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church and the Lancaster D.A.R.

Surviving are two sons, Phillip B. Hough of Lancaster and Francis M. Hough Jr. of Charlotte; two brothers, Dewey Bowen of Oakway and John H. Bowen of Mobile, Ala.; her sister, Ethelda Ables of Sanford, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 S. Market St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Carson Keenan

CHESTER - Ms. Carson Marie "Fleepy" Keenan, 45, of 122 Lancaster St., died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Ms. Keenan was born in Chester and graduated from Chester High School. She was a retired assistant manager of McDonalds and a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her parents, G. Carson and Louise Carter Keenan of Chester; her brother, Joe C. Keenan of Lancaster; and two sisters, Clair K. Payne of Raleigh, N.C., and Cindy K. Payne of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 518, Chester, SC 29706.

Annie Reeves

LANCASTER - Mrs. Annie Mozelle Williams Reeves, 93, of Lancaster Convalescent Center, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at the center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating.

Mrs. Reeves was a retiree of Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. with more than 25 years of service. She was a member of Sylvia Circle Baptist Church. She was the widow of Shelly Hazel Williams and Sidney Reeves.

Surviving are her son, Billy B. Williams of Rock Hill; her daughter, Jane W. Long of Rock Hill; her sister, Elizabeth Gladden of Gaffney; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her grandson, Phil Long, 1475 Springpoint Road, Rock Hill.

Rhonda Roach

GREENVILLE - Ms. Rhonda Roach, 41, of Greenville died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home Northwest. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Ms. Roach was a member of Grace Temple Church of God.

Surviving are two daughters, Shannon Roach and Brandis Roach of the home; her maternal grandmother, Ruby Watts of Rock Hill; and her grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Temple Church of God, 8709 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29607.

Mamie Steward

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mamie B. Steward, of 122 Wylie St., died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at home.

Arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Truesdale Starnes

NEWBERRY - Mr. Truesdale Lee Starnes, 83, of 24 Deer Trace Lane died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home, with the Rev. Theron Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Van Wyck United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. Starnes was born in Lancaster. He was a retired employee of Dickerson Inc. and a member of Van Wyck United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Welch Starnes; his stepson, Bruce Knight of Canby, Ore.; his stepdaughter, Judy Summer of Newberry; three brothers, Carter Starnes of Gastonia, N.C., Ray Starnes of Gaffney and Wayne Starnes of Columbia; two sisters, Bernice Calebro of Charlotte and Evelyn Gambell of Lancaster; nine step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home.

Kathleen Wallace

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Kathleen Wallace of 346 Barnes St. died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Foundation AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Darren Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Wallace was a member of Foundation AME Zion Church and its hymn choir, adult missionary group, stewardess board No. 1 and adult Sunday school class. She was a senior dignitary of the church and attended York County public schools.

Surviving are 11 grandchildren, including two whom she raised, Butler Gore Jr. of Rock Hill and Juanita G. Thomas of New York City.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home and will be taken to the church at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
