William Harper Jr.

MONROE, N.C. - Mr. William Cary Harper Jr., 84, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Union Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with Father Henry Presler officiating.

A native of Norfolk, Va., Mr. Monroe was a retired salesman for Carado Industries.

Surviving are three sons, William Cary Harper III, Donald Wilson Harper and Robert H. Harper, all of Rock Hill; three daughters, Mary J. Wright of Canton, Ohio, Dr. Sydney S. Harper of Florence, Ala., and Patricia F. Throneburg of Longs; his sister, Eunice Smith of Chesapeake, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 116 S. Church St., Monroe, NC 28112.

Gordon Funeral Service is in charge.

Henry Jordan Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Henry David Jordan Jr., 77, of 488 Arch Drive died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

A funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, with Father William Pentis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Great Falls, Mr. Jordan was a veteran of of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received the Pearl Harbor Commemorative Medal. He was a retired salesman for Comer Distributing Co. and a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Fritton Jordan; two sons, Paul Jordan and John Jordan, both of Rock Hill; four daughters, Theresa Zimmerman of Pembroke, Ga., Barbara Hardy of Houston and Kathy Googe and Claire McNinch, both of Rock Hill; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A vigil service will be held at 7 tonight at the Cauthen Funeral Home. Following the service, the family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 tonight, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the St. Anne Catholic Church Building Fund, 1694 Bird St., Rock Hill, SC 29730, or to the Serenity Club, P.O. Box 11044, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

William McBee

UNION - Mr. William deBohun McBee, 76, of 119 Highland Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Episcopal Church of The Nativity, with Father Lennart Pearson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Greenville, Mr. McBee was a veteran of World War II, having served as a major in the U.S. Army. He was retired from the Milliken Company's Union plant, where he was a personnel director. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of The Nativity and a graduate of Clemson College, Class of 1944.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Brown McBee; his daughter, Louise McBee Ferguson of Rock Hill; his son, William deBohun McBee Jr. of Deland, Fla.; his brother, Roy Sprunt McBee of Columbia; his granddaughter; and three grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Holcombe Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of The Nativity, P.O. Box 456, Union, SC 29379.

Roosevelt McClure

YORK - Mr. Roosevelt "Dat" McClure, 66, of White Oak Manor in York, formally of Filbert, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Hunter officiating. Burial will be at Uniondale Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Winda McClure and Babbie McClure, both of York; two sons, Robert McClure of York and Danny Sanders of Charlotte; his sister, Feannie Neely of McConnells; two brothers, Johnny McClure of York and Kenneth McClure of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 tonight at Wright Funeral Home.

Mabel Stokes

BETHUNE - Mrs. Mabel Horton Stokes, 73, of 3586 Bill Stokes Road died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at the Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Bethune Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Cockrell officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.

A native of Camden, Mrs. Stokes was a member of the Bethune Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday school class. Retired from the Bendix Co., Mrs. Stokes was a long-time member of the Kershaw Farm Bureau Women's Committee.

Surviving are her husband, William Himbrick Stokes Jr.; two sons, William H. Stokes III and Starling Odell Stokes, both of Bethune; her daughter, Audrey Dixon of Bennettsville; her brother, Johnnie Horton of Kershaw; her sister, Ruth H. Smith of Roanoke, Va.; nine grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw chapel, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Ruth or Trailblazer Sunday school class at Bethune Baptist Church, P.O. Box 326, Bethune, SC 29009.

Bertie Sutton

DRY FORK, Va. - Mrs. Bertie Arnold Sutton, 83, of 1552 Jones Mill Road, formerly of Fort Mill, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Stratford Health Care Center in Danville, Va.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clay Knick officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

Born in Hardin, N.C., Mrs. Sutton lived in Fort Mill most of her life. She was retired from Springs Mill, Inc. and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Willie Mae Warren Circle. Mrs. Sutton was the widow of John Lee Arnold, and later, the widow of W.E. Sutton Sr.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Arnold Maxey of Dry Fork and Carol Sutton Shealy of Easley; two stepdaughters, Betty Sutton Patterson of Fort Mill and Shirley Pearson of Newark, Del.; three sisters, Iva Sain Adams of Winnsboro, Ruby Sain Hancock of Rock Hill and Edith Sain Wellman of Lancaster; two brothers, O.H. Sain of Fort Mill and Broddus Vernon of Alexis, N.C.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Linda Maxey, 1353 Jones Mill Road in Dry Fork.

Janie Belton

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Janie Stewart Belton, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at Meadow Haven Rehabilitation and Specialty Care Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Belton was educated in York County schools. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, where she was on the Missionary Society, the Hymn Choir and was the Mother of the Usher Board. She was employed at the Earl Glasscock home for many years. She was retired from Winthrop University.

Surviving are her son, Leroy Belton of Rock Hill; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of her niece, Janie Moore, 3918 Cleveland Road, Edgemoor.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at noon Wednesday.
