Maggie Anderson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Maggie Durham Anderson, 83, of 293 Regal Road in Lake Wylie, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Hill AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Terrence Jones officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of Liberty Hill AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the Church Aid Society.

Surviving are her three sons, James L. Anderson and Henry L. Anderson, both of Lake Wylie, and Harry N. Anderson of Charlotte; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Hill AME Zion Church.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in York.

Mary Bennett

RICHBURG - Mrs. Mary Melton Bennett, 90, of 3544 Lancaster Highway died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at her home.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Union ARP Church, with the Rev. Dr. Allen Derrick officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Bennett retired in 1973 as a math teacher in the Lewisville Community after 23 years. She was a lifelong member of Union Associate ARP Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and past president of the Women of the Church. She actively supported ARP mission work. She was a graduate of Richburg High School and Erskine College in1930, where she earned a bachelor's degree in french and mathematics. She was the widow of John Newton Bennett Sr.

Surviving are her son, John N. Bennett Jr. of Richburg; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Union ARP Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 88, Richburg, SC 29729.

Lisa Curtice

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lisa Montville Curtice, 39, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at home.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Monday at Bass Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Bill Fox officiating.

A native of Washington, Mrs. Curtice was the domestic paralegal for the law office of Michael L. Brown Jr. She was a member of Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church in College Park, Md., and attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her husband, Marsh Curtice; and her son, Joseph Curtice of the home.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at Bass Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Mary Davis

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Davis of 346 Hampton St. died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

John Hakim

ROCK HILL - Mr. John K. Hakim, 57, of 355 Peppermill Drive died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at home.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Gorgan, Iran, Mr. Hakim was retired from Bareco Products as technical director. A graduate of Pittsburgh State University, he was a member of the European Wax Federation, National Chewing Gum Association, National Candle Association, Society of Plastics Engineers and the American Chemical Society. He was awarded several patents during his career.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Kolb Hakim; two sons, David Hakim of Indianapolis and Anthony Hakim of Houston; his brother, Iraj Hakim of Kansas City, Kan.; and his sister, Mahin Shahverdi of Teheran, Iran.

The family will receive friends at home.

Donnie Holley

CHESTER - Mr. Donnie "Buck" Holley, 79, of 170 York St. died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Chester Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.

Mr. Holley was the owner and operator of Buck's Watch Repair Shop. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Lewisville High School. He was a former member of The Jaycees and past president of the Lions Club. He was a member of Chester Masonic Lodge No. 18.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred T. Holley; his stepson, J. Michael Braswell of Charlotte; two brothers, Bill Holley of Kershaw and Robert P. Holley of Great Falls; his sister, Letha Lucas of Great Falls; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at home.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 518, Chester, SC 29706.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Thedo Humphries

KERSHAW - Mr. Thedo Humphries, 62, of 884 Buffalo Creek Road died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Steve Neal and Eddie Usher officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mr. Humphries was a retired truck driver for the La. Barriett Co. He was a member of Flint Ridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtis Gilmer Humphries; three sons, Theodore "Billy" Humphries of Heath Springs, and Michael Gilmer and Walker Bollings, both of Kershaw; two daughters, Geneva Humphries of Kershaw and Mary Sue Perkins of Gastonia, N.C.; his brother, W.J. Humphries of Sumter; five sisters, Sarah Blackmon of Heath Springs, Frances Alexandra of Cliffwood, N.J., Grace Burr of Wadesboro, N.C., Thelma H. Smart of Clover and Cindy H. Cranford of Kershaw; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.
