Rosana Pierce

DETROIT - Mrs. Rosana McGriff Pierce, 73, of 20151 Kentucky Drive, formerly of Winnsboro, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at home.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at White Oak Baptist Church cemetery, with the Rev. James H. Adamson officiating.

Mrs. Pierce was a former member of White Oak Baptist Church. She later joined Messiah Baptist Church in Detroit. She was retired from J.C. Penney. She attended Marygrove College and the Automation Academy, both in Detroit.

Surviving are three brothers, John E. McGriff of Detroit, George McGriff of Washington and Lex Henry McGriff of Charlotte.

The family is at the home of the Sandra Bookman, 7321 Crossridge Drive, Charlotte.

Gore's Funeral Home in Chester is in charge.

Myrtle King

ROCK HILL - Ms. Myrtle Ruth King, 80, of 818 Cauthen St. died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Beverly Health Care.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Marion Pressley officiating.

Ms. King retired from the J.P. Stevens Industrial Plant after 22 years of service.

Surviving are her brother, Marion "Frel" King of Rock Hill; and three sisters, Ernestine Stewart of Lowrys, Pauline Dye of Torrance, Calif., and Marie Davis of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her brother, Marion "Frel" King, 1309 Eisenhower Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to West Main Church of the Nazarene, 832 West Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Minnie McGuirt

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Minnie Salena Bass McGuirt, 80, of 2415 Sandy Porter Road died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Mecklenburg Health Care.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

A native of Charlotte, Mrs. McGuirt was a member of University Hills Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and the widow of Willie Bruce McGuirt.

Surviving are her daughter, Marsha Broughton of Charlotte; her sister, Dorothy Foutz of Mooresville, N.C.; four brothers, Samuel Morris Bass and Thad Bernard Bass, both of Fayetteville, N.C., Joseph Baird Bass of Charlotte and Charles Calvin Bass of Virginia; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home is in charge.

Cauthen Funeral Home in Lancaster is in charge of local arrangements.

Ruth Queen

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ruth Smith Queen, 83, of 4540 Strait Road died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.

A native of Rockingham, N.C., Mrs. Queen was retired from Randolph Yarns.

Surviving are her daughter, Louise Garrison of Rock Hill, and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Wright's Home for Funerals in Chester at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, Saluda Street, Chester, SC 29706.

James Quinn Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. James F. Quinn Sr., 77, of 1460 Red Oaks Drive died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. E. Ray Mohrmann officiating.

Mr. Quinn was a naval veteran of World War II. He was retired from Fairchild Republic Aerospace with 34 years of service and a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Jubilee Group. Mr. Quinn was the widower of Rose Mary Cooper Quinn.

Surviving are three sons, James F. Quinn Jr. of Wuesterlo, N.Y., Thomas R. Quinn of Rock Hill, and John W. Quinn of York; four brothers, William R. Quinn of Mission Viejo, Calif., Richard Quinn of Northford, Conn., Bobby Quinn of Bronx, N.Y., and Michael Quinn of Anchos Point, Alaska; two sisters, Patsy Scaminchi of Bohemia, N.Y., and Ethel Falter of Bellmore, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at 940 Pinecrest Drive.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 426 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

John Thompson

NEW YORK - Mr. John Thompson, 71, of New York, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. C.S. Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Union Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Thompson graduated from Orangeburg public schools. He was a former member of Union Baptist Church and was retired from the National Broadcasting System in New York.

Surviving are his brother, William Thompson of New York; and two sisters, Gladys Parks of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Alice Thompson of Charlotte.

Robinson Funeral home is in charge.

Bette Wilkie

FLETCHER, N.C. - Mrs. Bette Anne Wilkie, 67, of Hoopers Creek Road died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, N.C.

Mrs. Wilkie was a former North Carolina state senator.

The family will receive friends at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Hoopers Creek Community Club building fund.
