Hazel Fowler

FORT MILL - Mrs. Hazel Todd Fowler, 73, of 135 Cedar Hollow North died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be noon today at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Jesse Wilson officiating.

A native of Conway, Mrs. Fowler was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Archie James Fowler of Fort Mill; two sons, Michael Wayne Fowler of Greenville and Stephen Daniel Fowler of Fort Mill; three daughters, Winifred Elaine Clary of Columbia, Ramona Rhe Gilbert of Charleston and Barbara Dan Johnson of Atlanta; two sisters, Grace Hyman of Conway and Flora Fowler of Charleston; and eight grandchildren.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Mack Harris

PHILADELPHIA - Mr. Mack A. Harris, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Chestnut Hill Hospital.

Burial was at Rolling Green Memorial Park in West Goshen Township, Pa.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Harris attended school in Rock Hill and was a member of St. Matthew AME Zion Church. He was employed by Lukens Steel Co. for 31 years before retiring in 1981.

Surviving are his wife, Alberta Bradford Harris; his daughter, Audrey M. Whetts of Philadelphia; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

J. Emmett Hunt Funeral Home was in charge.

Bertha Herren

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Bertha Frye Herren, 89, formerly of Chester, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Central Carolina Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Chester Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Herren was retired from Springs Industries. She was the widow of Thomas W. Herren.

Surviving are two sisters, Martha Eloise Frye of Columbia and Thelma Smith of Moncks Corner.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Henrietta Kelso

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Henrietta Louise Zobel Kelso, 96, of 1611 Constitution Blvd. died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Eden Gardens Nursing Home.

A native of Milwaukee, Mrs. Kelso was a university professor.

Surviving are her son, Richard Kelso of Waxhaw, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at First ARP Church in Lancaster.

Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill is in charge.

Margaret McFadden

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Margaret McFadden, 68, formerly of Rock Hill, will be announced by Rowe Funeral Home.

Mrs. McFadden was a nurse at York General Hospital and was a member of Pineville AME Zion in Rock Hill.

Surviving are two sons, Roy McFadden of Rock Hill and Eddie McFadden of Atlanta; her brother, Williams McCleod of Washington; and three sisters, Mildred Sims of Rock Hill, Ruth Sanders of Charlotte, and Beatrice Blunt of Washington.

Brenda Morris

LANDO - Mrs. Brenda Elaine Starnes Morris, 55, of 3835 Chambers St. died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Morris was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, William Jack Morris Sr.; three sons, William Jack Morris Jr. of Lancaster, and Robert F. Gentry and Joshua A. Morris, both of Lando; two daughters, Tina Kay Gentry of Great Falls and Chantel Moss of Lando; her mother, Mabel Correan Black Starnes; five brothers, Alvin Starnes and Benny Starnes, both of Rock Hill, James Starnes of Lesslie, Mark Starnes of York, and George Starnes of Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Carrie Mae Bell of Dalzell and Sarah Hefner of Chester; her half sister, Vivian Bennett of Fort Mill; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home of Rock Hill and at other times at the home of Alvin Starnes, 730 W. Rambo Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to New Vision Freewill Baptist Church or Lando Church of God.

Philip O'Brien

WINCHESTER, Va. - Mr. Philip Wayne "Oble" O'Brien, 78, of 202 Conner Lane died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center.

The funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, with Father John Kelly officiating. Burial will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Mr. O'Brien was a Chief Petty Officer with the Navy and retired after 20 years service. He was a veteran of World War II, served on the USS Marblehead and received the Navy Cross Medal. After retirement, he was chief rigger for the Norfolk Naval Ship Yard Building and Dry Dock, retiring after 22 years. He was a member of AARP.

Surviving are his wife, Louise Bell Taylor O'Brien; two sons, Michael S. O'Brien of Winchester, and Philip W. O'Brien Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Patricia L. O'Brien Brannon of Winchester and Maureen O'Brien Faulkenberry of Clover; his brother, Richard O'Brien of Cheyenne, Wy.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst St., Winchester, Va.
