David Odom

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. David Palmer Odom, 46, of 1450 Heard Ave. died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at home.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church in York. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Surviving are three sons, Ron Odom, William Odom and Christopher Odom, all of Macon, Ga.; two brothers, Roger Odom of Gastonia, N.C., and Keith Odom of Clover; and four sisters, Dottie Corder of North Myrtle Beach, Linda Mosco of Myrtle Beach, Annette Martin of Blacksburg and Shelia Odom of Rock Hill.

C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge.

M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Vera Pruitt

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Vera Ethel Pruitt, 100, of 127 Murrah Drive died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Magnolia Manor.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Thomas Pietila officiating.

Mrs. Pruitt was a retiree of Highland Park Mill and was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are three daughters, Ada Roxanne Roberts and Laura Louise Mickle, both of Rock Hill, and Edith L. Sharp of Atlanta; her half brother, Roy Robinson of Woodruff; two half sisters, Ruth Scott and Alice Lawrence, both of Woodruff; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Laura Mickle, 213 Dotson St., Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Woodland United Methodist Church, 801 Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Inez Powell

FORT MILL - Mrs. Mary Inez Thompson Powell, 68, of 104 Still Ave. died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Wolfe Funeral Home, with Chaplain Miriam Mick officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

Mrs. Powell was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church. She was the widow of Robert Lee Powell.

Surviving are two daughters, Lorraine Massey of Fort Mill and Karen Blake of Fort Lawn; two sisters, Mildred Pope of Catawba and Dora Wooten of San Diego; four grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Raymond Smith

LANCASTER - Mr. Raymond Forrest Smith, 98, of Cedar Pines Lake died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Shane Patrick and Roy Barnes officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville, N.C., with the Revs. Jack Cooke and Robert K. Barrows Jr. officiating.

Mr. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church and the Oasis Club. He was a life member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Norma C. Smith; his son, Dr. Ray Hoyle; two stepdaughters, Emma Ross Gettys of Manning and Harriet Hamrick of Lancaster; his brother, Chad Smith of Cherryville, N.C.; two sisters, Velma Hartman of Lincolnton, N.C., and Mallie Black of Cherryville; four grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Tom and Harriet Hamrick, 1335 W. Shore Drive.

Paul Tiller Sr.

CLOVER - Mr. Paul Arthur Tiller Sr., 85, of 5239 Robert Allen Circle died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Beverly Health Care in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pine Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Mr. Tiller was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. In 1978, he retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co. after 39 years.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Jones Tiller; his son, Paul A. Tiller Jr. of Lake Wylie; three daughters, Frances T. Harper of Lake Wylie, and Mildred T. Beattie and Louise T. Armstrong, both of Clover; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to River Hills Emergency Squad, Heritage Drive, Lake Wylie, SC 29710.

Hazel Wilson

LANCASTER - Mr. Hazel John Wilson, 76, of 2736 Charlotte Highway died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Taylors Groves Baptist Church, with the Revs. N.J. Neely and Delmar Griffin officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Wilson was retired from Springs Industries as superintendent of the Kershaw Plant spinning department. He was a charter member and former chairman of the deacons at Taylors Groves Baptist Church. He was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 53 and Eastern Star No. 146 and an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Guy-Rea Horton Wilson; three sons, Woody L. Wilson and Reggie L. Wilson, both of Lancaster, and Randy A. Wilson of Rock Hill; his brother, Olin G. Wilson of Lancaster; his sister, Pauline W. Strickland of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Taylors Groves Baptist Church building fund, 2382 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Richard Agurs

PLAINFIELD, N.J. - Mr. Richard L. Agurs, 70, of 532 W. Front St., formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Millenburg Hospital.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Judkins Funeral Home, 428 W. Fourth St. Burial will be in Plainfield.

Mr. Agurs attended Emmett Scott High School. He was an automotive mechanic for more than 50 years.

Surviving are his son, Elliott "Ricky" Agurs of Los Angeles; his daughter, Denise Reaves of Plainfield; two brothers, Bobby Agurs or Brunchburg, N.J., and Jerry Agurs of Plainfield; and five sisters, Janie "Dank" Agurs and Frances A. Bolder, both of Rock Hill, Lavada Boyd of Charlotte, Geraldine Agurs of Plainfield and Carolyn Crawford of Bronx, N.Y.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
