Lloyd Yearwood Jr.

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Lloyd Thomas Yearwood Jr., 47, of 100 McDowell Drive died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at his home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darrell Twitty officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

A native of Fountain Inn, Mr. Yearwood was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam and was employed with Grace Finishing Plant. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School, attended York Technical College and was a member of Great Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are his wife, Debroah Brown Yearwood; his son, Thomas Edward "T.J." Yearwood of Great Falls; his daughter, Jeannie Annette Yearwood of Myrtle Beach; his mother and stepfather, Mary and J.D. Geiger of Fort Lawn; his brother, Steven Yearwood of Lexington; his sister, Judy Cagle of Lexington; and two stepsisters, Lorie Lucas of Great Falls and Zana Putnam of Monroe, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Great Falls Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 371, Great Falls, SC 29055.

William Ashe

YORK - Mr. William Grier Ashe, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Ebenezer Nursing Home in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Philadelphia United Methodist Church in York, with the Rev. Lee Phillips officiating.

Mr. Ashe was a native of York, a lifetime member of the Philadelphia United Methodist Church and a foreman for Cameron Farms. He was the widower of Mary McManus Ashe.

Surviving are his daughter, Sara Ashe Thomas of York; his brother, Gene Ashe of Chester; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the graveside service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 2260 Chester Highway, York, SC 29745 or to McConnells Baptist Church, McConnells.

Woodrow Baker

LANCASTER - Mr. Woodrow Baker, 81, of 1462 Hillcrest Ave. died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Grady Ghent officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Heath Springs, Mr. Baker was retired from the Tie End department at Spring Industries. He was a barber at the Lancaster Barber Shop for many years and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Nannie Mae Lynn Baker; three daughters, Shirley Baker of Charlotte; Carolyn Starnes of Van Wyck, and Debbie Sowell of Lancaster; six brothers, John Baker and Harry Baker, both of Charlotte; J. Morris Baker and William "Bill" Baker, both of Heath Springs, James Baker of Memphis, Tenn., and Wade Baker of Lancaster; two sisters, Florance Brennen of Great Falls and Esther Kay of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 1778, Lancaster, SC 29721.

Doris Caveny

WHITSETT, N.C. - Mrs. Doris Whittle "Freddie" Caveny, 65, of 1838 Andrews Farm Road died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bass Funeral Home in Rock Hill. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of York County, Mrs. Caveny worked at Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. She later worked at Cedar Crest Golf Club in Whitsett, where she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, George Knox Caveny; and her daughter, Kellie C. Bohart of Wallkill, N.Y.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington, N.C., and from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at Bass Funeral Home in Rock Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Ann Martin

SUMMERVILLE - Mrs. Ann Cooper Martin, 66, formerly of Lancaster, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at Summerville Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Revs. Charles Hendricks and Bill Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and a charter member of Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was the widow of Henry Martin.

Surviving are two sons, Alfred D. Martin of Columbia and John Andrew Martin of Lancaster; three daughters, Doris Honeycutt of Florida, Henrietta Littlejohn of Cherokee, N.C., and Debbie Starnes of Summerville; two brothers, George W. Neely and Roddy B. Cooper, both of Lancaster; three sisters, Metty Ryan of Naples, Fla., and Ila Parks and Maureen Anderson, both of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Angie Cole, 3424 Thompson Road in Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1138 10th St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Bobby Parker

UNION - Mr. Bobby Eugene Parker, 36, of 498 Old Union Road died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Lockhart Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Calvin Smith, Malachi Rodgers and Troy Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Bullock's Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery.

A native of Union, Mr. Parker was a member of First Baptist Church of Lockhart. He graduated from Lockhart High School in 1980 and Spartanburg Tech. Mr. Parker was employed in the machine shop at Torrington Co. Tyger River Plant.

Surviving are his daughter, Heather Marie Parker of Union; his parents, Robert Lee and Ann Nichols Parker of Union; and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Mable Parker of Sharon.

The family is at the home of his parents, Robert Lee and Ann Nichols Parker, 120 Sunnyside Drive in Union.

Verdie Smith

YORK - Mrs. Verdie Reola McCarter Smith, 88, of 12648 Highway 55 West died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, N.C.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany ARP Church cemetery, with the Rev. Alan Morrow officiating.

A native of York County, Mrs. Smith was a retired lunchroom supervisor at Bethany Elementary School and a member of the Bethany ARP Church.

Surviving are her husband, Brice Smith; her son, Tony Smith of York; her sister, Ruby McDaniel of York; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover.
