Lillian Eckman

COLUMBIA - Lillian Wilson Eckman, 79, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998.

The memorial service will be 12:15 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church on Tram Road in Columbia. Internment will follow in the Memorial Garden at St. Mary's Church.

She was the widow of Clarence V. Eckman and a retired teacher from the Aiken County schools. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginger Crowley.

Surviving are a daughter, Claire Bebbington of Irmo; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the church's parish hall following the ceremony.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church.

Virginia Jackson

LANCASTER - Mrs. Virginia "Ginger" Pate Jackson of 3369 J.B. Denton Road died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at home.

Mrs. Jackson was the wife of Danny Jackson.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Hartley Funeral Home.

Ola Jones

YORK - Mrs. Ola McCalister, 80, of 208 Barron Park died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. Cott Auten officiating. The burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

Mrs. McCalister was a homemaker and member of Central Baptist Church in York.

Surviving are her husband, Darby Jones; two sons, John L. Morrison of Newport and Lewis T. Morrison of Greycourt; her daughter, Alice Morrison Hartness of Rock Hill; her brother, Roe McCalister of Lancaster; her sister, Alice M. Moss of Hickory Grove; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at York Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight.

Marian Street

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Marian Howell Street, 68, of 638 Bancroft Drive died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Steve Brown officiating.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Street was the owner-operator of Jimmy Street Driving School for over 40 years. At the time of her death, she had worked for Piedmont Medical Center for 11 years.

Mrs. Street was a 1947 graduate of Chester County High School and earned her business degree at Winthrop College. She was the daughter of the late James Franklin Howell and the late Annie Mae McCarley Howell Bigham.

Mrs. Street was the widow of James E. "Jimmy" Street.

Surviving are her son, Tim Street of Rock Hill; her special friend, Jimmy Shaver of Lancaster; her brother-in-law, R.L. Street of Hillsville, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Jo Anne G. Street of Hillsville; and Sadie Howell and Willie Mae Howell, both of Chester; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Otis West

KERSHAW - Mr. Otis West, 93, of 3570 Providence Road died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at the Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at the Providence Baptist Church, with the Revs. Randy Knight and C.B. Dunn officiating. Burial will be in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. West was a retired farmer and a member of the Providence Baptist Church.

Surviving are his son, Otis Rudolph West of Lumberton, N.C.; four daughters, Gretchen W. Teal of Westville and Peggy Batts, Gail Hall and Suzanne Gordon, all of Bethune; her sister, Viola Truesdale of Salisbury, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel and other times at the home.

George Whistine

CLOVER - George Whistine, 62, of 306 Kings Mountain St. died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Arrangements are being handled by McGill Funeral Home in Gastonia, N.C.

Amy Cornwell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Amy Louise Sutton Cornwell, 80, of 2809 Greenwood Road died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Cornwell was retired from Rock Hill Telephone Co. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and its Amity Club, Hobby Club and Lydia-Dorcus Circle. She was a member of Catawba Cheers at Catawba Baptist Church. She was the widow of Holland L. Sutton and Ivey P. Cornwell Sr.

Surviving are two sons, Robert "Bob" Sutton and Lynn Sutton, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Sara Thompson and Martha Chapman, both of Rock Hill; her brother, Howard E. Funk of Jacksonville, Fla.; her sister, Vermelle Ingram of Greenville; her stepson, Ivy P. Cornwell Jr. of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Randy and Sara Thompson, 2785 Greenwood Road.
