Mae Frances Spence

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Mae Frances Spence, 61, of 5276 Sweatt McCullough Road died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Rossville AME Zion Church, with the Rev. A. Commodore officiating and the Rev. R. Dawkins delivering the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Spence was a member of Rossville AME Zion Church and a former member of Gladden Grove AME Zion Church. At Rossville, she was the senior choir leader, a deaconess and president of the young adult choir.

Surviving are her husband, James W. Spence; three sons, James L. Spence of Lancaster and Dessie Spence and Michael Spence, both of Richburg; three daughters, Shirley Rice of Blackstock and Carol Hopkins and Angelia Gladden, both of the home; seven brothers, Arthur Dye, Terry Dye, Robert L. Dye, and John Dye, all of Great Falls, Jim Ed Cameron and Willie Cameron, both of Winnsboro and Wylie Cameron of Virginia; three sisters, Betty Dye of Great Falls, Shirley Bolding of Lancaster and Martha Mack of Chester; 13 grandchildren, and her great-grandchild.

The body may be viewed from 6 to 7 tonight at Washington Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home.

Elizabeth Thomas

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Elizabeth Jordan Thomas, 91, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Sollie Hicks and Steve Hogg officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas was retired from Belk Department Store with more than 25 years of service. She was an active member of First Baptist Church. She was the widow of William B. Thomas.

Surviving are her son, William D. "Bill" Thomas of Rock Hill; her daughter, Doris T. Gainey of Rock Hill; her brother, J.T. Jordan of Rock Hill; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Doris T. Gainey, 913 Cornell Drive, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Forward by Faith, First Baptist Church, 215 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

June Williams

MOUNT DORA, Fla. - Mrs. June R. Williams, 81, of 1515 Crestview Drive, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998.

The funeral will be private.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and an Associate Reformed Presbyterian.

Surviving is her son, Less Williams of Mount Dora.

Hamlin & Hilbish, Rehbaum-Hardin Chapel, in Mount Dora is in charge.

Susie Gibson

LANCASTER - Miss Susie Elizabeth Gibson, 88, of 201 Chesterfield Ave. died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. Lacy Jones officiating.

Miss Gibson was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Claremont, N.C.

Surviving are her brother, Woodrow Gibson of Syracuse, N.Y.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Charlie and Dorothy Sellers, 1669 Starmont Circle, Lancaster.

Rita Henderson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Rita Young Henderson of 1021 Sylvia Circle died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Beasley Funeral Home in Laurens, with the Revs. Delpherd Barksdale and Walter B. White officiating. Burial will be at Jersey Cemetery in Laurens.

Mrs. Henderson was a retired teacher. She was a member of Evening Light Church of God in Laurens and Flint Hill Baptist Church in Rock Hill. She was a graduate of Benedict College in Columbia and received a master's degree from Winthrop University. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Surviving are her husband, Arthur Wyman Henderson; her daughter, Brittney Noel Henderson of the home; her stepdaughter, Vidonne Coulston of North Carolina; and her parents, William David and Mildred Beasley Young of the home.

The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Friday at Flint Hill Baptist Church in Rock Hill and at other times at the home and at the home of Kathryn Beasley Barksdale, Hooker Avenue, Laurens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid-Atlantic Chapter, P.O. Box 241535, Charlotte, NC 28224.

Alice Hutchenson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Alice Jean Hutchenson, 68, of 334-B Hutchenson St., died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at her home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home.

Malcolm Jones

LANCASTER - Mr. Malcolm "Mack" Wheeler Jones, 78, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom B. Wilkes III officiating.

Mr. Jones was a counselor for the Lancaster Recovery Center and a former Shell service station owner. He served as a captain in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and was involved in charity work in the Lancaster community.

Surviving are three sons, Malcolm Jones Jr. of Croton, N.Y., Robert Jones of Charlotte, and George Mack Jones of Harrisburg, N.C.; two daughters, Patricia Jones Scott of Matthews, N.C., and Rebecca Jones Brett of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; his sister, Elizabeth Jones Plyler of Lancaster; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 5908 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
