Tom Kee

CHESTER - Mr. Tom Paul Kee, 90, of 104 Steinkuhler St. died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Tanglewood Healthcare in Ridgeway.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church in Chester County, with the Rev. J.D. Burris officiating, and the Rev. E.E. Vance delivering the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Kee was a member of Mount Hopewell Baptist Church and the AP&B Society. A native of Chester, he was a retired farmer and worked for the railroad.

Surviving are his wife, Rachel H. Kee; his sister, Mae Belle Johnson of Baltimore; his caretakers, John and Jeanett Mackey of Edgemoor and Yvonne Foote and Modiestell Mobley, both of Chester.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Charles King Jr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Charles Lindsey King Jr., 63, of 1033-D Woodcreek Apartments died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Camp Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Cecil Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Westside City Cemetery.

Mr. King was retired from US Plywood. He was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and a veteran of the Air Force.

Surviving are his wife, Julie Stacks King; his son, William Roy King of Lancaster; his daughter, Tina Bundy of Waynesville, N.C.; two brothers, John Thomas King and Crawford Hill King, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Helen King of Columbia and Sally Hartgrove of Bay City, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 800 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720 or to Camp Creek Baptist Church piano fund, 998 Potter Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Hartley Funeral Home is in charge.

Evelyn Scarbrough

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Evelyn Cox Howell Scarbrough, 79, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Edgewood Cemetery in Knoxville, Tenn., with the Rev. David Pharr officiating.

Mrs. Scarbrough was a homemaker and a member of Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ.

Surviving are three sons, Ralph Howell of Peoria, Ariz., Jack Howell of Glendale, Calif., and Ray Howell of Glendale, Ariz.; two daughters, Margaret Fralix of Rock Hill and Pat McReynolds of Peoria; four brothers, Kenneth Cox, Bill Cox, Ray Cox and Jim Cox, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; five sisters, Cleda Stokes and Edith Silvery, both of Knoxville, Ruby Minge of Dayton, Ohio, Faye Amburn of Huntsville, Ala., and Tunnel Spence of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at McCarty-Weaver Cumberland Chapel, 5815 Western Ave., Knoxville, Tenn.

Memorials may be made to Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ, 339 Charlotte Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Shane Surratt

GREAT FALLS - Shane Orion Surratt, infant son of Kenneth R. Surratt Sr. and Sara Grimm Surratt of 23 Seaboard St., died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. C.D. Thomas officiating.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Kenneth Craighton Surratt of Winnsboro; his sister, Heather Nicole Surratt of Winnsboro; his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Lillian Surratt of Blackstock; and his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Maureen Grimm of Lugoff.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Matiel Harrington

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Matiel Walker Harrington, 94, of 808 Echo Cove Lane, formerly of Chester, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Mecklenburg Health Care Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at China Grove AME Zion Church in Pineville, N.C., with the Rev. William Conrad officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Harrington was a native of Chester County and a retired laundry presser. She was a member of the China Grove AME Zion Church and a former member of Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church in Chester and Little Rock AME Zion Church in Charlotte.

Surviving are her daughter, Dorothy Walker of Charlotte; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Curry of Charleston and Bloomer Gibson of Norfolk, Va.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at China Grove AME Zion Church.

Rita Henderson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Rita Young Henderson of 1021 Sylvia Circle died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Beasley Funeral Home in Laurens, with the Revs. Delpherd Barksdale and Walter B. White officiating. Burial will be at Jersey Cemetery in Laurens.

Mrs. Henderson was a retired teacher. She was a member of Evening Light Church of God in Laurens and Flint Hill Baptist Church in Rock Hill. She was a graduate of Benedict College in Columbia and received a master's degree from Winthrop University. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Surviving are her husband, Arthur Wyman Henderson; her daughter, Brittney Noel Henderson of the home; her stepdaughter, Vidonne Coulston of North Carolina; and her parents, William David and Mildred Beasley Young of the home.

The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. today at Flint Hill Baptist Church in Rock Hill and at other times at the home and at the home of Kathryn Beasley Barksdale, Hooker Avenue, Laurens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid-Atlantic Chapter, P.O. Box 241535, Charlotte, NC 28224.

Jimmy Oliver

RUBY - Mr. Jimmy Oliver, 79, of Ruby died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Oliver, a native of Ruby, was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Woodward Oliver; two sons, James Perry "Bimbo" Oliver and David Levoid "George" Oliver, both of Ruby; four daughters, Jean Oliver, Mary Marcel Huggins and Doris Taylor, all of Ruby, and Margaret Oliver of Lancaster; his brother, Reese Oliver of Jefferson; three sisters, Lucille Wilkerson of Rock Hill, Dorothy Owens of Jefferson and Leila Mae Oliver of Ruby; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
