Ruby Pratt

SPARTANBURG - Mrs. Ruby Lewis Pratt, 84, of Apartment 421, 425 S. Church St., died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at Mary Black Hospital.

A memorial service will be at a later date.

Mrs. Pratt had been a bookkeeper with Time Life magazine and the railway system. She was of the Catholic faith.

Among the survivors is a brother, Charles Ike Lewis of Rock Hill, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Floyd's North Church Street Chapel is in charge.

Riley Adams

ROCK HILL - Mr. Riley Dillard Adams, 66, of 1559 Falls Road died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at home.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. today at Eastview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rick Martin officiating.

Mr. Adams was a self-employed diesel mechanic. He was a member of Eastview Baptist Church. He was a member of Grant Park Lodge No. 604 in Atlanta. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and earned three bronze stars.

Surviving are his wife, Christine Martin Adams; two daughters, Merica Adams Greer and Christy Adams Huber, both of Rock Hill; two grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at home.

Memorials may be made during the service to the American Heart Association.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Wilda Betcher

LANCASTER - Mrs. Wilda Scoby Betcher, 79, of 2040 Stratford Drive in Arrowood died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Lybrand officiating. Entombment will be 3 p.m. at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mrs. Betcher was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph W. Betcher Sr.; her son Joseph W. Betcher Jr. of Spartanburg; and her sister, Beulah Manning of Bell Fountain, Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 800 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Cynthia Evans

CHESTER - Miss Cynthia Ann Evans, 50, of 1713 Henry Road died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Lando Baptist Church, with the Rev. Marion Dry officiating. Burial will be at Lando Cemetery.

A native of York County, Miss Evans was a registered nurse. She was a graduate of Lewisville High School and the University of South Carolina School of Nursing. She was a member of Lando Baptist Church.

Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Jean and Jack Morton of Chester; her brother, Kenneth Evans of Chester; three sisters, Dale Russell of Lancaster, and Pam Thomas and Misty Morton, both of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Lando Baptist Church, P.O. Box 198, Lando, SC 29724.

Shelley Gossett

CATAWBA - Mrs. Shelley Morgan Gossett, 67, formerly of 430 Leisure Lane, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Westminster Towers.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Catawba Baptist Church, with Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating. Burial will be at Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Pine Hill, Ala., she was the retired director of the Christian Children's Development Center at Catawba Baptist Church, where she also was a member. She was the widow of Robert Gossett.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Gossett of Marietta, Ga., and Phillip Gossett of Catawba; her sister, Mamie Kelley of Pine Hill, Ala.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home of Phillip Gossett, 452 Leisure Lane, Catawba.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 312, Columbia, SC 29204.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles Rhinehart Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. Charles Marion Rhinehart Sr., 65, of 579 Darby Road died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Gethsemane Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Pratt officiating and the Rev. E.E. Vance assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was retired from the city of Charlotte, where he worked for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Second Wilson Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Clara M. Rhinehart; four sons, Charles Rhinehart Jr. of Hickory, N.C., O'Neal Rhinehart of Rock Hill, Dennis L. Rhinehart of Severn, Md., and Robert M. Rhinehart of Columbia; two daughters, Bertha R. Sims of Chester and Sharon Rhinehart of the home; his mother and stepfather, Maurice R. McCoy and Johh McCoy of Buffalo, N.Y.; six brothers, Joseph Young and Timothy Holbrook, both of Chester, Harold Holbrook and Dan Holbrook, both of Atlanta, Curtis Holbrook and Dan D. Walker, both of Charlotte; six sisters, Sylome McClinton, Delois Tucker, Sandra Alexander and Marilyn Glumbe, all of Buffalo, N.Y., Emma Abernathy of Virginia Beach, Va., and Beaudell Foston of Charlotte; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home. The body will be carried to the church at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Kings Funeral Home is in charge.

Samuel Keey

ROCK HILL - Mr. Samuel "Sam" Keey, 57, of 340 Oakland Ave. died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be noon Monday at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Daggett Duncan officiating.

Mr. Keey was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2889, the American Legion Frank Roach Post 34 and Moose Lodge 1720 in Rock Hill. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired postal carrier.

Surviving are his son, Kevin Key of California; his mother, Macie Key of Rock Hill; five brothers, David Key, Atlas Key, Roger Key and Tony Key, all of Rock Hill, and James Key of Wilmington, N.C.; six sisters, Mary Key of Maryland, Macie Lou Key of Wilmington, Peggy Sue Key and Sharon Key, both of Gastonia, N.C., and Phyllis Freeman and Nancy Key, both of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his brother, David Key, 650 Ole Simpson Place, Rock Hill.
