Lela Brown

FORT MILL - Mrs. Lela White Brown of 701 Tom Hall St. died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the pastor Rev. Carlwell Culp officiating and the Rev. Lincoln Lee Jr. assisting. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.

A native of York County, she retired from Indian Land school in Fort Mill as a teacher. She taught for 34 years. She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority and the National Educational Association. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Baptist, where she was an usher and a member of the choir. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of George Fish High School in Fort Mill and Morgan State University in Baltimore. She was the widow of Arthur Felder Brown Jr.

Surviving are two sons, Arthur Felder Brown III and Vincent Henry Brown, both of Fort Mill; her brother, Simon A. White Jr. of Charlotte; two sisters, Ruby White Strait and Barbara White Murphy, both of Fort Mill; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church at noon Friday.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Nellie Eller

UNION - Mrs. Nellie Millwood Petty Eller, 59, of 314 Mount Tabor Church Road in Union died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Eller was a York County native and a member of Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church. She was the widow of Leroy Petty.

Surviving are two daughters, Debra Harvey of York and Joyce Toney of Union; her brother, Robert Millwood of Jonesville; her sister, Mary Henderson of Union; two grandsons Jerry Leopard Jr. of York and Bryant Toney of the home; and her granddaughter, Kristi Harvey of York.

The family will receive friends at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight.

Louise Perkins

FORT MILL - Mrs. Louise Merritt Perkins, 80, of 200 Sidney Johnson St. died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Unity Cemetery, with the Rev. Bob Costner officiating. Mrs. Perkins was a York County native and was retired from Springs Industries. She was the widow of Ira Lee Perkins and attended Community Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her brother, James E. Merritt of Fort Mill; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of her niece, Elsie Holder, 200 Sidney Johnson St.

Michael Wentz

ROCK HILL - Mr. Michael John Wentz, 45, of 2065 Leatherwood Court died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at home.

A memorial Mass will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, with Father William Pentis officiating.

Mr. Wentz was a native of Barberton, Ohio. He worked at Bowater and graduated from Ohio University.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Marie Englehart Wentz; two sons, Kyle and Devin Wentz; two daughters, Caitlin Wentz and Leanne Wentz; his mother, Jennie Kukec Wentz of Barberton, Ohio; six brothers, Kenneth Wentz of Stow, Ohio, David Englehart, John Englehart, Steve Englehart, Tom Englehart and Michael Englehart, all of Ohio; and 20 nieces and nephews.

A vigil service will be at 7 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home's Rock Hill chapel. The family will receive friends after the vigil until 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Saint Anne Catholic Church Building Fund, 1694 Bird St., Rock Hill, SC 29730; Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730; or to Melanoma Consortium, Duke University Medical Center 3828, Durham, NC 27710.

Elsie Adams

JONESVILLE - Mrs. Elsie Skoog Adams, 77, of 279 Pea Ridge Highway, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at Mary Black Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry Hyder officiating. Burial will be at Porter Cemetery.

Mrs. Adams was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a member of Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was the widow of James Earl Adams. She was a former employee of Spartanburg Sportswear of Spartanburg and Jonesville Products.

Surviving are four daughters, Linda Kinsey of Chester, Jenny Adams and Lois A. Lawson, both of Jonesville, and Deborah Crisp of Buffalo, N.Y.; three sons, Richard Earl Adams and Michael L. Adams, both of Jonesville, and Talmadge W. Adams of Union; his sister, Mildred Buchanan of New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The body will be taken to the residence today where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight. The body will be taken to the church at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church building fund, 392 Pea Ridge Highway, Jonesville, SC 29353 or to the Porter Cemetery Fund, c/o Jane Inman, 2612 Mount Tabor Church Road, Jonesville, SC 29353.

S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home is in charge.

Solon Bradley Jr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Solon Ernest Bradley Jr., 52, of 1446 Kelly Drive died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marty Cox officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mr. Bradley was employed at Springs Industries.

Surviving are his wife, Faye Adams Bradley of Waxhaw, N.C.; his son, Bobby Bradley of Waxhaw; his daughter, Tammy Coffey of Waxhaw; his brother, Terry S. Bradley of Great Falls; his sister, Linda Roberts of Lancaster; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mike and Crystal Robinson, 863 Hillsdale Drive, Lancaster.

Lee Canty

GASTON - Mr. Lee Canty, 20, of 158 Dowd Road died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Weathers officiating. Burial will be at the Catawba Latter Day Saints cemetery.

Mr. Canty was a native of Rock Hill.

Surviving are his father, Leonard Taylor Canty of the home; his mother, Sandy Mayzes of Columbia; his stepfather, Randy Rabon of Columbia; his brother, Leonard James Canty of the home; his sister, Tanda Michelle Lail of Columbia; his maternal grandfather, Samuel Mayzes of Columbia; his maternal grandmother, Frances Marze of Charlotte; his maternal great-grandmother, Myrtle Campbell of Charlotte; and his maternal step-grandmother, Lula Rabon of Columbia.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his aunt, Nellie Gunn, 1198 Springdale Road, Rock Hill.
