Deborah Kennington

LANCASTER - Mrs. Deborah Ann Rickman Kennington, 41, of 6450 Oak Hill Church Road died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Thurman Johnson and Tommy Howell officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lynchburg, Va., Mrs. Kennington was a homemaker, a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church, and spokeswoman for the MS Group of Lancaster County.

Surviving are her husband, Tommy Kennington; two daughters, Jessica June Kennington and Kristie Brooke Kennington, both of Lancaster; her parents, Alton and Irma C. Rickman of Lancaster; and two brothers, Jamie Rockman of Concord, N.C., and Billy Rickman of Jefferson.

Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - Greater Carolinas Chapter, 9844-C Southern Pines Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28273.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Helen Kowalski

LANCASTER - Mrs. Helen Margaret Galish Kowalski, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, with Father Thomas Morrison officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland.

A native of Central City, Pa., Mrs. Kowalski was a homemaker and a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church. She was the widow of Joseph Vincent Kowalski.

Surviving are her daughter, Toni Walsh of Lancaster; four brothers, Thomas Galish of Central City, William Galish of Landrum, Edward Galish of New Jersey and Stephen Galish of Cleveland; three sisters, Ann Knapp of Central City, Susan Davis of Cleveland, Betty Kubala of Davidsonville, Md.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of Toni Walsh, 704 W. Barr St.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Catholic Church, 720 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Harriette Lane

KERSHAW - Mrs. Harriette Lee Truesdale Lane of 201 S. Minor St., died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at White Oak Manor in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Paul Smith and Buddy Bach officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mrs. Lane attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Queens College in Charlotte, where she graduated with honors in music and piano. She was a retired teacher and taught English, piano, chorus and public school music. She was active in both Kershaw Presbyterian and Kershaw First Baptist Churches, both in the choir and as pianist and organist. She taught piano privately and played for many weddings and special concerts. She was the widow of Witford Woodrow Lane.

Surviving are two sons, Phillip W. Lane and David Kirk Lane, both of Kershaw; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Susan and Kirk Lane, 201 S. Minor Street, Kershaw.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, West Church Street, Kershaw, SC 29067.

E. Guy Longshore Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. E. Guy Longshore Jr., 63, of 782 Cambridge Circle, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at his home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Further arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

Kathryn Riley

ORANGEBURG - Mrs. Kathryn Perry Riley, 83, of 6204 North Road died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Southern Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marvin Clark officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

A native of Saluda County, Mrs. Riley was retired from Orangeburg Regional Hospital as a dietary supervisor and was an active member of First Southern Methodist Church, the Berean Sunday school class and the Harriett Adden Missionary Society, of which she was president for 15 years. She was a member of the Eutaw Chapter 162, Order of the Eastern Star, where she was worthy matron and district deputy grand matron. She also was grand representative for the state of South Carolina and held the office of Martha, the star point, for many years. She was the widow of Pettus Gardner Riley.

Surviving are three sons, Perry Eugene Riley of Little Mountain, and Jimmie Gardner Riley and Joe Michael Riley, both of Orangeburg; three daughters, Jan McLellan of Tega Cay, LuAlice Riley Coates of Chapin, Kitty Rhett Riley of Orangeburg; two brothers, James D. Perry and Thomas B. Perry, both of Newberry; three sisters, Jonelle P. Rinehart of Orangeburg, Henrietta P. Shealy of Newberry, and Betty P. Epting of Florence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home and at other times at the home and at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First Southern Methodist Church, 2690 North Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118; Hospice of TRMC, 1324 Hutto St., Orangeburg, SC 29115; Eastern Star Home, 1267 N. Main Street, Sumter, SC 29153.

Maurine Spiva

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Maurine McCright Spiva, 90, of Rock Hill died Tuesday at Westminster Healthcare Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Roller Chenal Funeral Home in Little Rock, Ark.

Jesse Thomas Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. Jesse Clyde Thomas Sr., 88, formerly of Lowrys Highway, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Chester Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Reggie Parker officiating.

Mr. Thomas was a retired carpenter and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He attended Chester County schools.

Surviving are three sons, Jesse Clyde Thomas Jr. and William A. Thomas, both of Chester, and Ronald H. Thomas of Davidson, N.C.; six grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 1542 Liberty Road, Chester, SC 29706.
