Lola Morgan

SMYRNA - Mrs. Lola Castles Morgan, 101, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, in the Marion Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. today in the Smyrna ARP Church cemetery.

A native of Smyrna, Mrs. Morgan was a retired sales manager, a member of the Smryna ARP Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was an accomplished artist.

Surviving are her niece, Castles G. Page of Sellers; and a number of other relatives.

A visitation will follow the graveside service.

James Sims

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Edward Sims, 64, of 2074 Montclair Drive died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jimmy Holley and Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Sims was an U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and worked as a security guard with Security Forces in Charlotte. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann Roddey Sims of the home; two sons, Michael Leonard Sims and James Robert "Robbie" Sims, both of Rock Hill; his brother, Charles Sims of Lancaster; two sisters, Dorothy Cheshire of Catawba and Joyce Cole of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Sadie Starr

LANCASTER - Mrs. Sadie Rebecca Henry Starr, 90, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at the Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mahaffey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Shane Patrick and Roy Barnes officiating. Burial will be at Westside Cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Starr was a retired Springs Industries employee and a member of First Baptist Church.

She was the widow of John Massey Starr.

Surviving are her son, Ralph H. Williams of Kent, Wash.; her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Wright of Las Cruces, N.M.; her brother, Odell Henry of Lancaster; her sister, Ruby Geniac of Texas; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Market St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Martha Williams

ROCK HILL - Ms. Martha Alice Williams, 68, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The graveside service was 3 p.m. Saturday at Neely's Creek ARP Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Paul Blank officiating.

Ms. Williams attended Christian Baptist Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are five brothers, David L. Williams and Elbert "Bert" Williams Jr., both of Rock Hill, Roger E. Williams of Lancaster, John W. Williams of Fort Mill and Howard B. "Billy" Williams of McConnells; and three sisters, Bessie W. Meadows, Joann W. Ghant and Peggy W. Costner, all of Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Christian Baptist Church, 327 S. Stonewall St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Bennett

BLACKSTOCK - Mrs. Ruby McKeown "Pam" Bennett, 71, of 1766 Boyd Road died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Rodney Foster and Dr. Clyde Mitchum officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Bennett was a Chester County native. She was a retired bookkeeper from Sam's Home Center. She was a member and first lady elder of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Blackstock High School and Winthrop College. She was the widow of James Roy Bennett.

Surviving are her son, the Rev. William Stevenson Bennett of Manhattan, N.Y.; her daughter, Emmy Susan Bennett of Blackstock; her brother, John W. McKeown Sr. of Columbia; two sisters, Emmie Uldrick of Donalds and Jessie Matthews of Jackson, Miss.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 1660 Pleasant Grove Road, Chester, SC 29706.

Rex Benton

CLOVER - Mr. Rex Herbert Benton, 76, of 1510 Gaither Road, Belmont, N.C., died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ted Dixon officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

Mr. Benton was an Ashland, Ohio, native. He was a retired teacher and coach for Ashland High School, received a bachelor's degree from Western Carolina and completed a master's degree at the University of North Carolina. He received a Purple Heart medal during WWII while serving in the U.S. Navy. He played professional baseball with the Philadelphia Athletics and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Lorena King Benton of Belmont; two daughters, Mary Sue Sarelis of Ashland and Bobbi Jo Sweebe, of Memphis, Tenn.; his sister, Dorothea "Tude" Benton Hevett, Grants, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service at 1510 Gaither Road in Belmont.

Bessie Mae Feaster

CHESTER - Mrs. Bessie Mae Feaster, 70, of 3321 W. End Road, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., with the Rev. J.K. Stringfellow officiating and the Revs. I. Wheeler, J.W. Wright and Reginald Feaster assisting. Burial will be at Sweet Hope Cemetery.

Born in Chester County, Mrs. Feaster was a member of Sweet Hope Baptist Church, the Missionary Society and the CB&A Society and was a former member of the Hymn Choir. She was educated in Chester County public schools and was the widow of Clinton Feaster.

Surviving are her caretakers: her sister-in-law, Mary Williams of Carlisle; and two nephews, Todd Land of Carlisle and Scott Glenn of Chester.

The family will receive friends at the home of Willie Jo and Mary Williams, 2709 Feasters Road in Carlisle.

King's Funeral Home is in charge.
