Mildred Williford

CHESTER - Mrs. Mildred Wallace Williford, 75, of 1657 Pinckney Road died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at Chester County Hospital .

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church, with the Revs. Reggie Parker and Dale Rodday officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Williford was a Chesterfield County native. She was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. She was the widow of Charlie H. Williford.

Surviving are two sons, Charlie H. Williford and Kenneth Dayle Williford, both of Chester; her daughter, Carolyn Catoe of Lancaster; two brothers, Johnny Ray Wallace and Billy G. Wallace, both of Lancaster; and three sisters, Lucille W. Rollings and Joyce Craig, both of Lancaster, and Betty Deese of Heath Springs.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Sarah Wilkes

CHESTER - Mrs. Sarah Y. Wilkes, 91, of Saluda Street died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home in Pageland.

James Brown Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Arthur Brown Sr., 84, of 836 Patton St. died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rawlinson Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Long officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Rawlinson Road Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Ayers Brown; two sons, James Brown Jr. and Jerald W. Brown, both of Rock Hill; three sisters, Ola Johnson of Augusta, Ga., Mary Oliver of Williston and Nellie LaVan of Columbia; two brothers, John Brown Jr. and Roy Loyd, both of Union; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

Memorials may be made to Rawlinson Road Baptist Church, 1024 Rawlinson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

James Burgess

MARSHVILLE, N.C. - Mr. James Hal Burgess, 55, of Marshville died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at Union Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Waxhaw, N.C., with the Rev. Bill Funderburk officiating.

A native of Union County, Mr. Burgess was a power lineman with Pike Electric Co.

Surviving are three sons, Mike Burgess of Lancaster, Todd Burgess and Matt Burgess, both of Indian Land; three brothers, Tommy Burgess of Monroe, N.C., Ronnie Burgess of Indian Trail, N.C., and Roger Burgess of Fletcher, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at Davis Funeral Home in Monroe.

Lemuel Coats

KERSHAW - Mr. Lemuel Clyde Coats, 90, of 3936 Coats Road died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Shamrock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Thurman Carnes officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Coats was a World War II Army veteran and a prisoner of war. He was a member of Shamrock Baptist Church where he had perfect attendance for 11 years.

Surviving are his wife, Edith Willian Horton Coats; four sons, Graham C. Coats, William E. "Bill" Coats, John Porter Coats, all of Kershaw, and Hillard "Barry" Coats of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Shamrock Baptist Church, 3573 Porter Road, Bethune, SC 29009.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Jane Demby

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Diania "Jane" McManus Demby, 49, of 2231 Porter Road died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Olin Giles officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Demby was a former employee of Smith Enterprises and Klear Knit. She was a member of Grace Bible Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Bonnie L. Demby Jr.; her son, Stoy B. Faile Jr. of Rock Hill; her stepson, Chris Demby of Rock Hill; her daughter, Angel Marie Dean of Rock Hill; her stepdaughter, Wanda Lea Demby of Rock Hill; her mother, Betty McManus of Rock Hill; three brothers, David Harvey of Decatur, Ga., and Wayne Charles McManus and William C. McManus, both of Rock Hill; four sisters, Roaslie Robinson and Ida Mae Wray, both of York, and Joyce Knight and Becky McManus, both of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her mother, Betty McManus, 2231 Porter Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Norma Gibson

HOVEN, S.D. - Mrs. Norma Small Gibson, 87, formerly of Great Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at Holy Infant Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home in Great Falls, with the Revs. Charles Snipes and Charles Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls.

A native of Kershaw County, Mrs. Gibson was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens Co. and attended school in Kershaw County and Great Falls. She was a member of the Church of God in Tolstoy, S.D.

Surviving are three daughters, Betty Blakley of Great Falls, Margie Snipes of Tolstoy, S.D., and Barbara Martin of Sumter; her sister, Nina Duncans of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Tolstoy Church of God, P.O. Box 6, Tolstoy, SD 57475.
