Robert Johnson

LAKE WYLIE - Mr. Robert Samuel Johnson, 78, of 24 Tanglewood Road, River Hills Plantation, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.

M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Bob Jolley

FORT MILL - Mr. Bob D. Jolley, 54, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Mercy Hospital South.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mac Kinnett officiating.

A native of Chesnee, Mr. Jolley graduated from Wofford College and was a former member of the National Guard. He worked for Springs Industries in Lancaster, was a member of the Leroy Springs Recreation Complex, was a former president of the Fort Mill chapter of the United Way and was involved with Boy Scout Troop No. 108.

Surviving are his wife, Janet Jolley of Fort Mill; his son, Robert Jolley of Columbia and Fort Mill; his daughter, Lee Jolley of Charleston and Fort Mill; and his mother, Juanita Jolley of Chesnee.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scout Troop No. 108, c/o Dan Malphrus, 608 Pine St., Fort Mill, SC 29715 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.

James Medlin Sr.

FORT MILL - Mr. James "Jim" Thomas Medlin Sr., 70, of 140 Forrest St. died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert C. Munson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Joe Tysinger and N.J. Neely. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery with graveside Masonic rites.

A lifetime member of Catawba Lodge 56, Mr. Medlin was a retired master craftsman from Bowater. He was a member of the Eastern Star, the rifle squad of the American Legion, Fort Mill Moose Lodge No. 1240 and the men's Bible class of St. John's United Methodist Church. Mr. Medlin was a Navy veteran and attended Clemson College.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Medlin; his son, James Medlin of Fort Mill; two brothers, Bobby Ray Medlin of Williamsburg, Va., and Harold Medlin of Watkinsville, Ga.; his sister, Emmie Davis of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at St. John's United Methodist Church and at other times at the home.

Fort Mill Funeral Home is in charge.

Virginia Williamson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Virginia June Williams Williamson, 68, of 1153 Deas St. died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at Sonshine Village.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at West End Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Pageland, Mrs. Williamson attended West End Baptist Church and was a former member of College Park Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Douglas Williamson of Fort Mill, and Dale Williamson and Derrick Williamson, both of Rock Hill; her daughter, Robin Beckler of Rock Hill; her brother, Edgar "Junior" Williams of Fort Mill; four sisters, Mary Helms of Monroe, N.C., Bobbie Allen of Columbia, Shirley Watts of Stanley, N.C., and Amelia Street of Baltimore; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Derrick Williamson, 1154 Deas St., Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made West End Baptist Church building fund, 1727 McConnells Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Daisy Wilson

CHESTER - Mrs. Daisy Burnett "Cookie" Wilson, 64, of 136 York St. died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Purity Presbyterian Church, with Drs. Joe Brookes and Charles Elliott officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Cemetery in York.

Mrs. Wilson was a Greenwood native. She was a former school teacher and retired from the Chester County school district as a media specialist. She also taught school in Dekalb County, Ga., and in York. She had a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Winthrop University. She was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church, where she worked as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. She had been chairwoman of the Woman's Circle and moderator of Presbyterian Women. She served as chairwoman of the Pastor Nomination Committee and was a member of the handbell choir and the D.A.R.

Surviving are her husband, James A Wilson; two sons, James A. Wilson Jr. of Chester and Dr. William E. Wilson of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Elizabeth W. Whitesides of York and Mary W. Pettus of Chester; and her sister, Mary Ellen Stricklin of Athens, Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Purity Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 278, Chester, SC 29706.

Ora Adams

FORT MILL - Mrs. Ora Hannon Adams, 87, of 129 Ritch St. died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at Magnolia Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's United Methodist Church of Fort Mill, with the Rev. Joe Tysinger officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Adams was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and was retired from Springs Industries, Fort Mill Plant No. 1. She was the widow of Fred Carlton Adams.

Surviving are two sons, John L. Adams of Tunkhannock, Pa., and Douglas R. Adams of Rock Hill; two daughters, Judy Ann Jones of Lumberton, N.C., and Sue Carolyn Nivens of Rock Hill; two half-sisters, Nancy Smith of Arlington, Texas, and Martha McPhail of Greensboro, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Margaret Calvert

GREENVILLE - Mrs. Margaret Hallman Calvert, 90, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Mount Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Jonesville. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Rolling Green Village in Greenville.

A native of Henderson County, N.C., Mrs. Calvert was employed as a secretary with Celanese Corp. in Rock Hill for more than 20 years. She was a charter member of the Rock Hill Chapter of Professional Secretaries International and spent two terms as president. She was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her daughter, Patricia C. Newton of Brevard, N.C.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, is in charge.
