James Reiney Jr.

HONG KONG - Mr. James R. Reiney Jr., 58, the son of James R. Reiney Sr. and Lovice C. Reiney, formerly of Rock Hill, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998.

A memorial service will be Jan. 16, 1998, in St. Helena, Calif.

A native of Lynville, Tenn., Mr. Reiney was a retired employee of Bechtel Corp. and a current employee of AES China. He was a 1962 graduate of The Citadel and an Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Pamela W. Reiney, of St. Helena; his daughter, Devon R. DeGarmo, of Chico, Calif.; and his brother, William T. Reiney of Havelock, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Clyde Self Sr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Clyde William Self Sr., 66, of 1730 Hillside Ave. died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at his home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. Joel Rhyner officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Self was a retired mechanic for Springs Industries.

Surviving are his wife, Clara Payne Self; two sons, Clyde William "Billy" Self Jr. and Terry Lynn Self Sr., both of Lancaster; two daughters, Darlene Robinson of Lancaster and Donna Stokes of Kershaw; his stepdaugther, Debbie Payne of Kershaw; two brothers, Robert Self of Columbia and Eugene Self of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Home Care Hospice of Lancaster, 800 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Lessie Taylor

KERSHAW - Mrs. Lessie Outen Taylor, 77, of 5166 Bethune Road died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Abney Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mendle Baker and Louie Anderson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of Abney Baptist Church and was the retired owner-operator of Taylor's Grocery. She was the widow of Willie Noah Taylor.

Surviving are three sons, Olin J. Taylor, Herman W. Taylor and Billy W. Taylor, all of Kershaw; four daughters, Jean Vincent of Camden, Mildred Phillips of Fort Mill, Betty Faulkenberry of Kershaw and Judy Carnes of Chester; her sister, Evelyn Gandy of Kershaw; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

William Worthy

ROANOKE, Va. - Mr. William C. "Capus" Worthy, 86, of 3012 Limewood Road, formerly of Leeds Community, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Sweets Baptist Church in Roanoke.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Worthy was educated in Chester County public schools. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Hattie Worthy; two sons, Leon Worthy of Baltimore and William Worthy Jr. of Virginia; two sisters, Lillie Mae Williams of Reading, Pa., and Bernice Watson of New York City.

Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home is in charge.

Christopher King Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, is in charge of local arrangements.

Horace Bailes

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Mr. Horace Bill Bailes, 79, of 1300 Westridge Road died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Forbis and Dick Funeral Service, North Elm Street Chapel. Burial will be at Westminster Gradens.

Mr. Bailes was born in Fort Mill and was a retired engineer for Southern Photo. He was a charter member of Trinity Church, where he was on the church board and held most offices of the church.

Surviving are his brother, Leon Bailes of Rock Hill; and his sister, Ann Robinson of Belmont, N.C.

The family will receive friends at Forbis and Dick Funeral Service from 4 to 6 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Church, 5200 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27410.

Mildred Estridge

KERSHAW - Mrs. Mildred Morgan Estridge, 79, of 7398 Old Jefferson Highway died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Midway Baptist Church, with the Revs. Randall Runion and Frank Turner officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Estridge was a retired service manager for Springs Cafeteria. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was the widow of Elmore Franklin Estridge.

Surviving are her daughter, Judy E. White of Kershaw; her brother, J.L. Morgan Jr. of Charlotte; three sisters, Sara Short of Charlotte, Mary Parker of Ocean Isle, N.C., and Ann Turner of Murphy, N.C.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Flat Creek Fire Department, 7563 Flat Creek Road, Kershaw, SC 29067 or to the Mount Pisgah-Buffalo Rescue Squad, 2099 John Munn Road, Jefferson, SC 29718.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Jessie Gist

ROCK HILL - Mr. Jessie Gist, 63, of 923 Albert St. died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Dowell Baptist Church in McConnells, with the Rev. George H. Lowery officiating and Dr. John McCoy, the Revs. Archie Gill, Rickey Daniels and Archie Stover and Evangelist Sandra McCoy assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Gist was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from J. P. Stevens when his health declined and was a member of the Parker Funeral Home staff. He was a member of Mount Dowell Baptist Church, where he worked on the finance committee and sound system committee.

He was the widower of Ellaree Gist.

Surviving are four sons, Jessie Lee Gist Jr. and Freddie Gist, both of Rock Hill, Alvin Gist of Columbia, and Gaylord Mitchell of Silver Springs, Md.; two daughters, Delores Adams and Elaine Gist, both of Rock Hill; his brother, David Gist of McConnells; three sisters, Annie Mae Gaston and Helen Hayes, both of Charlotte, and Rosena Simpson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Delores Adams, 233 E. Moore St.

The body may be viewed Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Parker Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at noon Wednesday.
