Erving Simpson

ROCK HILL - Mr. Erving Simpson of 428 Baker St. died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Thomas Watson

ROCK HILL - Mr. Thomas Watson, 79, of 4411 Givens Road died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home of his sister, Tillie Mae Watson Givens, 4241 Givens Road, Rock Hill.

Minnie Yon

LORIS - Mrs. Minnie Brown Yon, 91, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at Loris Extended Care Facility.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Loris First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Doug Gilliland officiating. Burial will be at Patterson Cemetery.

Mrs. Yon was a homemaker. She was a member of Loris First United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member. She was past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Lodge No. 106 and a substitute teacher. She was the widow of James Homer Yon Sr.

Surviving are three sons, James H. "Buddy" Yon Jr. and Robert C. "Bobby" Yon, both of Charlotte, and William S. "Bill" Yon of Loris; two sisters, Yvonne Binnicker and Joyce Fleniken, both of Orangeburg; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Loris First United Methodist Church building fund, 3507 Broad St., Loris, SC 29569.

Hardwick Funeral Home is in charge.

Myrtle Davis

LANCASTER - Mrs. Myrtle Sylvene Williams Davis, 80, of 504 Gillsbrook Road died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barron Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Owens officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Ware Shoals, Mrs. Davis was a retired quality control inspector for Springs Industries. She attended Chester First Baptist Church and graduated from Chester High School. She was the widow of Harry Adam Davis Sr.

Surviving are her daughter, Vickey Johnson of Lancaster; her son, Harry Davis Jr. of Corsicana, Texas; her brother, Alvin Williams of Greer; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, and other times at 106 Walker St., Chester.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, Springs Memorial Hospital, 800 West Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Hester Dennis

CHESTER - Mrs. Hester B. Dennis, 89, of 3160 Leeds Road died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Red Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roosevelt Adams officiating and the Rev. J.W. Wright assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Dennis was the oldest member of Red Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of the senior choir and a former usher at the church. She was a deaconess and a member of the Pulpit Aid. She worked for Containers Corp. of America in Baltimore. While residing in Baltimore, she attended the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She was the widow of Walter Dennis.

Surviving is her sister, Mary Price of Baltimore.

The family will receive friends at the home. The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 tonight at King's Funeral Home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Red Hill Baptist Church.

Norman Falls Sr.

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. Norman Eugene Falls Sr., 50, of 636 New Castle Road died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke No. 1 Baptist Church in Sharon with the Rev. A.A. Bankhead officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Novella Falls; two daughters, Nina and Priscilla Falls, both of Gastonia, N.C.; his son, Norman Falls of Gastonia, N.C.; two sisters, Dorothy Chalk and Diane McCombs, both of York; three brothers, Clifton Falls of Augusta, Ga., and Charles Falls and Clement Falls, both of Clover; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday one hour before the funeral.

Costner Funeral Home is in charge.

Wilburn Hagans Sr.

BELMONT, N.C. - Mr. Wilburn James Hagans Sr., 67, of 411 Cherry St. died Sunday, Nov. 21 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Carothers Funeral Home in Belmont with the Rev. Roger Grassfield officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

A native of York, Mr. Hagans was a truck driver and retired owner of The Decorative Pillow Shop.

Surviving are two sons, James Hagans Jr. of Mount Holly, N.C., and Doug Hagans of Belmont; two daughters, Beth Chapman of Belmont and Karen Moldavon of Simpsonville, N.C.; two sisters, Ruth Mae Clinton of Belmont, and Minnie Whistnant of Shelby, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Carothers Funeral Home, 405 N. Central Ave., Belmont.

Memorials may be made to Community Christian Fellowship, 2560 Stanley Lucia Road, Mt. Holly, NC, 28120.
