Thomas Howe

ROCK HILL - Mr. Thomas Samuel "Sam" Howe, 43, of 4426 Winrock Lane, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. E. Ray Mohrman officiating.

A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Mr. Howe was retired from Celanese and attended Grace Lutheran Church. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Faust Howe; his son, Thomas Howe of Rock Hill; his daughter, Allison Howe of Rock Hill; his father, Bill Howe of Greenville; his mother, Pat Howe of Hartsville; and two brothers, Bill Howe III of Rock Hill and Scott Howe of Columbia.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel or other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260, or to Grace Lutheran Church, 426 W. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Drucilla Massey

CATAWBA - Mrs. Drucilla Brice Massey died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Catawba Chapel AME Zion Church, with the Rev. W. Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Massey was a member of Catawba Chapel AME Zion Church, where she served on the deaconess board, missionary society and the life members council. She was the widow of L.J. Massey.

Surviving are two bothers, Lymus Brice Sr. of Rock Hill and the Rev. Roy Brice of Cheraw; and his sister, Johnny Mae McCoy of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Clemons Funeral Home.

Oma Munn

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Oma Neal Munn, 91, of Chiltern Hills Trail died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bass Funeral Home with Dr. James Ballard officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Munn retired from Victoria Mills as a weaver. She worked for Rock Hill school district with food services and Bucks Grill as a waitress. Mrs. Munn was a charter member of Second Baptist Church of Rock Hill and the widow of Lester Leroy Munn.

Surviving are her son, Randy Munn of Rock Hill; her daughter, Joanne Ballard of Charlotte, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and other times at the home of Randy Munn, 220 Peachtree Road, Rock Hill.

Shirley Neal

FORT MILL - Mrs. Shirley Morrow Neal, 63, of 204 Confederate St. died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Universal Methodist Church in Fort Mill with Dr. Robert Monson officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Fort Mill, Mrs. Neal was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Methodist Church, the Fort Mill Women's Club and the Rose Garden Club.

Surviving are her husband, John Neal of Fort Mill; her son, Craig Neal of Fort Mill; her daughter, Melissa White of Fort Mill; her brother, Darrell Morrow of Fort Mill; her sister, Linda Sims of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at St. John's Methodist Church and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, SC 29715 or to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Beverly Steele

LANCASTER - Mrs. Beverly Rush Steele, 73, of 1306 Westmoreland Drive died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Ernie Thompson and the Rev. Sam Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Turbeville, Mrs. Steele was a retired music teacher for Lancaster County schools. She graduated from Coker College, was inducted into the prestigious Sophiades National Honor Society and did graduate work at Winthrop College, George Peabody College, Appalachian State College and the University of South Carolina.

Mrs. Steele was a member and past president of the Lily Strickland Music Club, and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the county, state and national Retired Educators Association and the Literacy Review Club.

She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church where she directed the adult choir for 27 years, served as president of the Women of the Church, was Sunday school pianist, a choir member and a circle chairman.

Surviving are her husband, James Steele of Lancaster; three sons, James Steele of Hartsville, Alvin Steele of Fort Mill and William Steele of Whiteville, N.C.; her daughter, Jane Pierce of Spartanburg; her sister, Barbara Rush of Florence; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Music Fund, P.O. Box 990, Lancaster, SC 29721.

Cynthia Thomas

FORT MILL - Ms. Cynthia "Cindy" Hafner Thomas, 41, of 8805 Whippoorwill Lane died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.

A homemaker, Ms. Hafner attended Fort Mill High School.

Surviving are two daughters, Shannon Thomas of Spartanburg and Crystal Means of Rock Hill; her mother, Bertha Simmons of Fort Mill; her father, Bobby Hafner of Lavernia, Texas; her sister, Deborah Rippy of Rock Hill; her companion, John McKenzie of Fort Mill; and her granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill, and at other times at the home of Bertha Simmons, 217 Pine St., Fort Mill.

Bernice Anderson

KERSHAW - Mrs. Bernice Whitaker Anderson, 74, of 309 N. Cleveland St. died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, in a Columbia hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Steve Neal and Hugh McKinney officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson was a retired office technician for Piedmont Natural Gas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Charlotte.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Lee "Brandy" Anderson; two sons, Wayne D. Anderson of Indian Trail and Robert C. "Chris" Anderson of Charlotte; two daughters, Darnell A. Stallings and Regina A. Kinley, both of Charlotte; her mother, Virgie Hunter Whitaker of Kershaw; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at home.
