Tia Belk

CHESTER - Tia Lee Belk, the infant daughter of Shanda Belk of 135 McClure St., Apt. 1A, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

A graveside service will 3 p.m. Wednesday at Black Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Black officiating.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her brother, Quovarous Belk of Chester; her sister, Christina Belk of Chester; her maternal grandfather, Curtis L. Belk of Atlanta; her maternal grandmother, Dorothy B. Mitchell of Chester; and her maternal step-grandmother, Lutrica Belk of Chester.

The family will receive friends at home.

King's Funeral Home was in charge.

James Bullman

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Ernest Bullman, 59, of Rock Hill died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Tabernacle Church of God, with the Rev. Thomas Little officating.

Mr. Bullman was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church of God.

Surviving is his sister, Helen B. Blair of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

Sam Howe

ROCK HILL - Mr. Thomas Samuel "Sam" Howe, 43, of 4426 Winrock Lane died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. E. Ray Mohrman officiating.

A longtime resident of Rock Hill, Mr. Howe was born in Jacksonville, Fla. He was retired from Celanese and attended Grace Lutheran Church. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Faust Howe; his son, Thomas Matthew Howe of Rock Hill; his daughter, Allison Howe of Rock Hill; his father, Bill Howe of Greenville; his mother, Pat Howe of Hartsville; and two brothers, Bill Howe III of Rock Hill and Scott Howe of Columbia.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260, or to Grace Lutheran Church, 426 W. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

James Knight

CLOVER - Mr. James LeRoy Knight, 73, of 413 Marion St. died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Clover First Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Stanford officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Knight was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was retired from American Thread Co. and North Hand Protection, both of Clover, and had worked at Springs Inc. in York. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Clover and a member of Masonic Lodge 208. He was the widower of Lois Stanton Knight.

Surviving are his daughter, Teresa K. Glass of Clover; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church expansion fund, 117 S. Main St., Clover, SC 29710.

Bobby McCleave

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Bobby G. McCleave, 59, of 5800 Fairview Road, No. 628, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at A.S. Grier Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. McCleave was a retired machinist with Rexham Corp.

Surviving are two sons, Robert E. McCleave and Gregory K. McCleave, both of Charlotte; five daughters, Carmen D. Pratt, Cassaundra D. McCleave, Audrey G. McCleave and Sara A. Grier, all of Charlotte, and Andy Vette Ligons of Rock Hill; his mother, Margaret McCleave of Fort Mill; four brothers, John Simon McCleave of Rock Hill, Charles Thomas McCleave of McConnells, Elliot Clearence McCleave of Charlotte and William Author McCleave of Fort Mill; and four sisters, Janie Bell McCleave of Detroit, Annie Lee Sanders of Lowrys, Brenda Benson of Charlotte and Caron McCleave of Fort Mill.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at A.S. Grier Memorial Chapel.

Estelle Sanders

WEST COLUMBIA - Mr. Estelle Sanders, 95, of Lexington Extended Care in West Columbia, formerly of York, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gold Hill Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. George McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

A native of Sharon, Mr. Sanders was a farmer and retired from Daniels Construction Co. He joined Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church in Sharon at an early age. He later joined Gold Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member for more than 50 years and spent several as a trustee.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Wilkes Sanders; nine sons, Samuel Sanders, John Bryant Sanders, Ted Lewis Sanders, Arthur Allen Sanders, Perry James Sanders and Richard Palmer Sanders, all of the Washington, D.C., area; Leroy Sanders and Dennis Stevens Sanders, both of York, and Carl Herman Sanders of West Columbia; six daughters, Annie Hollis of Columbia, Nancy Faye Love of West Columbia, Lois Wilson of New York, Margaret Dixon of Washington, Janice Thompson of York and Joslyn Garrett of Stone Mountain, Ga.; his niece whom he reared, Elizabeth Burton of Gastonia, N.C.; three sisters, Macie Sanders and Odessa Sanders, both of New York, and Rebecca Guest of Gastonia; 35 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his son, Dennis Sanders, 208 Williams St. in York.

Connie Brown

HAMPTON, Va. - Mrs. Connie H. Brown, 88, formerly of Fort Mill, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Sentara Nursing Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Fort Mill, with the Rev. Ralph Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was the widow of Arthur Reed Brown. She was also preceded in death by her son, Arthur Reed Brown Jr. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Mill.

Surviving are two daughters, Melda Tucker Smith of High Point, N.C., and Gerry Vaughan of Poquoson, Va.; her brother, Clyde Hargett of Monroe, N.C.; two sisters, Ann Watkins of Rock Hill and Bobbie Yarborough of Fort Mill; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Wolfe Funeral Home.
