James Bullman

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Ernest Bullman, 59, of Rock Hill died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Calvary Tabernacle Church of God, with the Rev. Thomas Little officiating.

Mr. Bullman was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church of God. He retired in 1993 from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. He was president of the Human Service Association of York County and received two human service awards in the 1980s.

Surviving are his mother, Nora McIntosh Henderson of York; and his sister, Helen B. Blair of Rock Hill.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Ralph Lewis

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ralph Mansfield Lewis, 87, of 602 Lakeside Drive died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Interment will be in New Boston, N.H.

Mr. Lewis was the former owner of Southern Screen Engraving in Lancaster. He was the widower of Ruth Harriet Lewis.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Lewis of Lancaster and Russell Lewis of Wingate, N.C.; two daughters, Robin Anne Welch of Brewster, Mass., and Roni May Willis of Carrollton, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of York County, Bone Cancer Research, 339 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Evelyn Peschel

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Evelyn May Moore Peschel, 73, of Charlotte, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at home.

A memorial service will be by Order of the Eastern Star at 1 p.m. Dec. 5 at the mausoleum chapel of Sharon Memorial Park.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, she graduated in 1943 from North Jackson High School. Mrs. Peschel was a homemaker, Red Cross volunteer and member of the Morning Light Chapter No. 80, Order of the Eastern Star, for 50 years. She was the widow of Stanley Peschel, and she retired in 1995 after 13 years as a certified nursing assistant at the Methodist Home in Charlotte.

Surviving are three sons, Stanley Peschel of Lewisville, Texas, Lawrence Peschel of Matthews, and William Peschel of York; her daughter, Rebecca Fusich of Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, Lawrence Moore of Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., and Joseph Moore of Compton, Ark.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204.

Lowe-DeBord Funeral Home is in charge.

Florence Shirley

HEREFORD, Ariz. - Mrs. Florence M. Shirley, 79, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Shirley was the widow of Eugene S. Shirley.

Surviving are two daughters, Beth Coleman of Wilmington, N.C., and Sandra Gore of Hereford; her sister, Edith Hudson of Charleston; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3109 Poplar Wood Court, Suite 125, Raleigh, NC 27604.

James Turner

CHARLOTTE - Mr. James Austin Turner, 88, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Myers Park United Methodist Church. A private burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mr. Turner was the founder and board chairman of National Welders Supply Co., the largest independent welding supply distributor in the country.

Surviving are his wife, Linerieux Turner; his son, James Austin Turner III; and his daughter, Judith Turner Carpenter.

McEwen Funeral Service is in charge.

Maude Barnette

FORT MILL - Mrs. Maude Brooks Warner Barnette, 100, died Nov. 25, 1998, at her home.

The funeral service will be 8 p.m. Friday at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Mill. There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Yadkin College United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lexington, with the Rev. Charles Blanton officiating.

Mrs. Barnette was a Winthrop University hostess for 30 years in Johnson Hall. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her son, John Chester Barnette of Kernesville, N.C.; three daughters, Betty Stuart of Charlotte and Marion Leigh Jeffries and Martha Blanton, both of Fort Mill; her sister, Mary Jo Hachett of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 144 Caldwell S., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Connie Brown

HAMPTON, Va. - Ms. Connie Brown, 88, formerly of Fort Mill, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, in Poquoson, Va.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill.

George Fogle

COPE - George Hansel Fogle, 70, of 603 Deer Trail Road died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at his home.

The memorial service was held Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Cope Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Eloise D. Fogle of the home; four daughters, Nancy Hightower and Jewel Coleman, both of Cope, Pam Fogle of Charleston and Roxie Trotter of Rock Hill; two brothers, Elbert Fogle of Cope and Woodrow Fogle of Spartanburg; two sisters, Ada Mae Felder of St. George and Margaret Odom Sr. of Orangeburg; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Cope Baptist Church or the S.C. Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
