Ila Sampley

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ila Faye Adams Sampley, 82, of 2100 County Club Drive died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at the Fairfield Manor in Ridgeway.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, with the Rev. Ansel Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Sampley was a member of the Hyde Park Baptist Church and retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving are her son, Danny Sampley of Lancaster; her daughter, Mrs. Tommy Jean Hobbs of Lancaster; her brother, Jack Leo Adams of Rock Hill; two sisters, Jessie Mae Hunter of Chester and Wanda Dutton of York; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Foundation, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202.

Cynthia Thomas

FORT MILL - Mrs. Cynthia Thomas, 41, of 8805 Whippoorwill Lane died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill is in charge.

Arnold Wallace

LANCASTER - Mr. Arnold Don Wallace, 69, of 4610 Cherrystone Road died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at High Point Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Cameron officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Lancaster County, Mr. Wallace was a retired contractor and attended the Adult Sunday school class at Temple Baptist Church.

He was the widower of Juanita P. Wallace.

Surviving are his fiance, Doris Taylor of Lancaster; three sons, Arnold L. Wallace, William K. Wallace and Johnny S. Wallace, all of Lancaster; two brothers, Johnnie R. Wallace and Billy G. Wallace, both of Lancaster; four sisters, Lucille Rollings and Loyce Craig, both of Lancaster, Mildred Williford of Chester and Betty Deese of Heath Springs; seven grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 800 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Rhonda Brady

CLEVELAND - Rhonda Clarissa Thompson Brady, of 9206 Parkgate Ave., formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, in Ripley, W.Va.

The funeral will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. W.E. Garrison officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery at 9 a.m. Friday.

A graduate of Kensington High School in Buffalo, N.Y., Brady earned a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University. She received a juris doctorate of law from Cleveland State University and was an attorney. She joined St. John's Baptist Church in New York, where she sang in the youth choir and taught Sunday school. When she moved to Rock Hill, she joined the New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority.

Surviving are her mother, Alice Reed of Rock Hill; her brother, Damien Loback of Seattle; her sister, Judith Dixon of Rock Hill; and her maternal grandmother, Jessie Shearin.

The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, 1035 Hearn St., Apt. H. A wake will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Eleanor Bennett

FORT MILL - Mrs. Eleanor Levanie Kimbrell Bennett, 65, of 9937 Calvin Hall Road died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Indian Land Church of God, with the Revs. Bill Ferguson and Roy Player officiating. Burial will be at Hartis Grove Baptist Church in Indian Trail, N.C.

Mrs. Bennett was the widow of Billy Hugh Bennett Sr. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She retired from E.C. Manufacturing, where she was an operator.

Surviving are four sons, Billy H. Bennett Jr. of Lancaster, Bobby A. Bennett, Charles Edward Bennett and James Phillip Bennett, all of Fort Mill; four daughters, Barbara Ann Scott of Van Wyck, Brenda McCoy and Mary Barrett, both of Fort Mill, and Karen Ellis of Smyrna; her brother, Angues Edward "Tom" Kimbrell of Charlotte; two sisters, Roberta Kimbrell Roberts of Great Falls and Lula Mae Merritt of Rock Hill; 13 grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mary Barrett, 487 Lancaster Estates Road, Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church building fund, 1726 Zoar Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715 or Indian Land Church of God, 8558 Shelly Mullis Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

David Hartley

LEESVILLE - Mr. David B. Hartley, 76, of 1045 Reedy O. Smith Road died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Mount Ebal Baptist Church, with the Revs. Kyle Harmon and Dr. Johnny Muller officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Hartley was a retired textile employee. He was a member of Mount Ebal Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. He also was a farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Hall Hartley; his son, Melvin Hartley of Leesville; his daughter, Alice Miller of Leesville; four sisters, Callie Shealy of Leesville, Grace Keisler and Mary Pearle Holton, both of Batesburg, and Fay Harris of Columbia; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Mount Ebal Baptist Church.

Milton Shealy Funeral Home in Batesburg-Leesville is in charge.

James Owens Jr.

SUMMERVILLE - Mr. James Rodney Owens Jr., 62, of Summerville died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at New Hope United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Owens was a graduate of Rivers High School and a 1960 graduate of The Citadel. He was a retired civil engineer for Southern Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command. He was a registered civil engineer and land surveyor. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Solomon's Lodge No. 1, Omar Shriners, Omar Cowboys, Palmetto Classic Thunderbird Club and the Coastal Classic Ford Club.

Surviving are his wife, Judith H. Owens; three sons, James R. Owens III and Richard W. Owens, both of Summerville, and Daniel E. Owens of Ladson; two daughters, Lisa O. Faryadi of Locust, N.C., and Laura O. Bartholow of Pineville, N.C.; his mother, Doris Sanders Owens of Summerville; his brother, Harry W. Owens of Summerville; his sister, Betty O. Deshotels of Summerville; and 10 grandchildren.

Parks Funeral Home in Summerville is in charge.
