Irene Nelson

CHESTER - Mrs. Irene Elizabeth Woodle Nelson, 89, formerly of York Road, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at the Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Nelson was a retired hostess from Pundt's Restaurant. She was a graduate of Chester High School and a member of First Baptist Church.

She was the widow of Jay Leo Nelson.

Surviving are two sons, Harry Hamilton "Huck" Nelson of Green-ville and Broxie Jay Nelson of Raleigh, N.C.; her sister, Sinnie Mae Roddey of Fort Lawn; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Barron Funeral Home.

Frances Weber

SUMMERVILLE - Mrs. Frances Dunning Weber of Summerville died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at a local nursing home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Chapel. Burial will be at Summerville Cemetery.

Mrs. Weber was a retired registered nurse. She was a graduate of Summerville High School and the Medical University of South Carolina School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

She was the widow of Harold Francis Weber.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Dunning Weber of Summerville and Harold Francis Weber of Rock Hill; her daughter, Suzanne W. Grove of Conway; her brother, Charles Dunning of Summerville; five sisters, Elsa Dunning, Clara Leggette and Mary Jumper, all of Summerville, Juliette Ellis and Anne Thomas, both of Sumter; and seven grandchildren.

Parks Funeral Home is in charge.

Toby Surratt

ROCK HILL - Mr. "Toby" Larkin Alexander Surratt, 78, of 733 Norwood Ave. died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fort Mill Church of God, with the Rev. D.R. Buchanan officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in Monroe, N.C., Mr. Surratt was retired from Springs Industries as a loom fixer. He was employed by Weiser Co. as a security guard for the Springs White Plant in Fort Mill. He was a member of Mount Gallant Church of God. He served in the Army during World War II.

Surviving are his wife Frances Quinn Surratt; four sons, Edwin W. Helms and Ronald S. Helms, both of Fort Mill, Heyward A. Helms of Seoul, Korea, and Donald Quinn of Rock Hill; four daughters, Renee Helms Szuba of Fort Mill, Renee Quinn Shaffer, Joyce Quinn Wright and Judy Quinn Leopard, all of Rock Hill; his brother, Albert Surratt of Gastonia, N.C.; his sister, Eva Helms of Fort Mill; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Wolfe Funeral Home at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Mount Gallant Church of God, 1107 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233-3549.

Edith Wilson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Edith Wright Wilson, 73, of 5710 St. James Lane died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Greene Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Soles officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Greer, Mrs. Wilson attended Shield of Faith Family Church. She was the widow of James Wilson.

Surviving are two sons, James Wilson and Stephen Wilson, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Dianna Brothers of York and Angela Sexton of Rock Hill; two brothers, D.V. Wright of Jonana and Carter Wright of Clinton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Jantzen Charles

ROCK HILL - Jantzen Landry Charles, the infant daughter of John Edward and Shannon Hubbard Charles of 316 Laurens St., died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at the Hospital Americanos in Cancun, Mexico.

A graveside service was Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her paternal grandparents, John and Denise Charles of York and Gloria Charles and Arthur McVickers of Rock Hill; her maternal grandparents, Mona and Jim Rollins, and Sam and Lukay Hubbard, all of Rock Hill; and her paternal great-grandmother, Ann Clark of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mae Gaynor

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Mae Bell Gaynor, 87, of Columbia died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Rosewood Baptist Church, 2901 Rosewood Ave., with the Rev. George E. Turbeville officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill.

Mrs. Gaynor lived in Rock Hill before moving to Columbia 23 years ago. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 131 in Rock Hill and a member of the Rosewood Baptist Church, where she was in the church's Young at Heart group, Gleanors Bible study class and the Woman's Missionary Union.

Mrs. Gaynor was the widow of William M. Gaynor and a homemaker.

Surviving are four daughters, Pansy Gaynor of Columbia, Carol Lawings of Fredericksburg, Va.; Janet Scruggs of Madison, Ala., and Bernice Mackey of Rock Hill; her brother, Alexander West of Rock Hill; two sisters, Katie Howell and Lottie Mae Rainey, both of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the Greenlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia.

Memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, c/o Northside Baptist Church, 1140 Curtis St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Carol Marks

FORT MILL - Mrs. Carol Lee Harkey Marks, 85, of Fort Mill died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of the Walkersville Community in Union County, N.C., Mrs. Marks was a homemaker and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Horace Xerxes Marks.

Surviving are her son, Joseph Marks of Fort Mill; three daughters, Jean Schwerin of Fort Mill, Jill York of Lake Wylie and Janet Ashley of Wake Forest, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Joe and Doris Marks, 1197 Doby Court, Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church building fund, P.O. Box 1298, Fort Mill, SC 29716.
