Toby Surratt

ROCK HILL - Mr. "Toby" Larkin Alexander Surratt, 78, of 733 Norwood Ave. died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fort Mill Church of God, with the Rev. D.R. Buchanan officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in Monroe, N.C., Mr. Surratt was retired from Springs Industries as a loom-fixer. He was employed by Weiser Co. as a security guard for the Springs White Plant in Fort Mill. A member of Mount Gallant Church of God, he served in the Army during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Quinn Surratt; four sons, Edwin "Legs" Helms and Ronald S. Helms, both of Fort Mill, Heyward A. Helms of Seoul, Korea, and Donald Quinn of Rock Hill; four daughters, Renee Helms Szuba of Fort Mill, Renee Quinn Shaffer, Joyce Quinn Wright and Judy Quinn Leopard, all of Rock Hill; his brother, Albert Surratt of Gastonia, N.C.; his sister, Eva Helms of Fort Mill; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Mount Gallant Church of God, 1107 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233-3549.

Alex Ferrell Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Alex Franklin Ferrell Sr., 65, of 1570 Barringer Road died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Ferrell was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 111, and was a 33rd degree Mason. He was a member of the Eastern Star Catawba No. 131. He was owner and operator of Industrial Process Piping Inc. for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Dover Ferrell; his son, Alex F. Ferrell Jr. of Rock Hill; his daughter, Sandy F. Broom of Fort Mill; his brother, Albert Ferrell of Rock Hill; three sisters, Betty Horton of Tampa, Fla., Margaret White of Daytona, Fla., and Ethel Roach of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

Masonic Rites will be 6:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Warren Fry

ANACORTES, Wash. - Mr. Warren "Woody" Ervin Fry, 50, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, after an accident at the Texaco Refinery in Annacortes where he was employed for 11 years.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Annacortes First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.

Mr. Fry was a native of Wallace, Idaho. He served in the Army in Vietnam and earned a Bronze Star, Purple Hearts and Oak Leaf Clusters.

He was a member of the Annacortes Eagles, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the OCAW Local No. 1-591 and the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Diana "Dyna" Fry; five sons, Dakota "Cody" Barnes of Acme, Wash., Jonathan Fry of Mount Vernon, Wash., Corey Fry of York, and Forest Warren "Chip" Fry and Daniel Ervin Fry, both of Anacortes; two daughters, Dawn Thomas of Alger, Wash., and Rebecca Romo of Anacortes; his parents, Ervin and Alice May Fry of Kendrick, Idaho; his brother, Eldon Fry of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and 12 grandchildren.

Evans Funeral Chapel, 1105 32nd St., Annacortes, Wash., is in charge.

C.B. Green

CHESNEE - Mr. C.B. Green, 72, of 511 W. Cherokee St. died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Charles McKinney, Jim Chrisawn and Grover Green officiating.

Mr. Green was a retired quality control inspector from G.F. Furniture Factory in Spindale, N.C. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the senior adult Sunday school class. He was a World War II veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Green; his son, Stanley Green of Chesnee; two daughters, Darlene McKelvey of York and Revonda Herring of Forest City; two brothers, Jesse Green of Chesnee and James Green of Gaffney; two sisters, Gladys Miller of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Virginia Gibson of Jacksonville, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Chesnee.

Ferrie Hooks

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mrs. Ferrie Elizabeth Riddle Hooks, 80, of Gastonia died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Richard J. Harrod officiating. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park Cemetery.

A native of Bowling Green, Mrs. Hooks was retired from Gurney Industries with more than 50 years of service. She was a member and elder of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and president of the Women of the Church. She also worked at Sweetland's Restaurant in Gastonia. She was a graduate of Clover High School in Clover.

Surviving are three sons, Bill Hooks of Concord, N.C., Hank Hooks of Charlotte, and Cecil Hooks of Gastonia; her sister, Mary Bigger of Lake Wylie; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Ward Funeral Home, 220 South Broad St., Gastonia, N.C.

Memorials may be made to Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church, 825 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.

Henry Miller

ROCK HILL - Mr. Henry Miller of 1530 Stroupe St. died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Lula Nunn

YORK - Mrs. Lula Miller Nunn, 82, of York died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Martha Franks Baptist Center in Laurens.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. Horace Story officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Nunn was a retired teacher for the Clover school district. She was a charter member of Tea & Topic Book Club in York and was a member of the Moving On Club at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church. She was a member of First Baptist Church and its Senior Adult Club. She was a graduate of Winthrop College. She was the widow of Charles Fredrick Nunn.

Surviving are her daughter, Nita Nunn Danenburg of Elgin; and her sister, Martha Miller Edwards of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight in the Ladies Parlor at First Baptist Church in York.

Memorials may be made to Unit 3 of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center, 1 Martha Franks Drive, Laurens, SC 29360.
