Emmie Holcombe

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Emmie Taylor Holcombe, 82, of Charlotte died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at Presbyterian Wesley Care Center.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Sharon Memorial Park, with the Rev. Paul Ballard officiating.

Mrs. Holcombe was a native of Chester County. She was a 1933 graduate of Oakley Hall School in Chester County. She retired from Sears in 1981. She was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Union, Fellowship Sunday school class and Martha Brady Circle.

Surviving are her son, M. Wayne Holcombe of Charlotte; and her sister, Frances Lipford Page of Chester.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Charlotte, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204.

McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel, is in charge.

Jack Jolley

ROCK HILL - Mr. Jack C. Jolley, 75, of 1999 Neely Store Road died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The memorial service will be 5 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy McClendon officiating. Burial will be in Brainard Cemetery in Cranbury, N.J.

A native of Bartlesville, Okla., Mr. Jolley was a retired real estate broker and developer. He was a former FBI agent in the New York and Boston areas. Mr. Jolley was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was the recipient of two Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Air Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Air Force Service Ribbon with Silver Service Star.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Jolley; his son, Richard Jolley of the home; three daughters, Colleen Sims of Portland, Ore., Heidi Martin of Sun City, Calif., and Cindy Carnes of Morino Valley, Calif.; his sister, Mildred Hess of Bartlesville, Okla; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.

Hubert Platt

ROCK HILL - Dr. Hubert Osteen Platt, 65, of 1557 Granville Road died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at home.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Rock Hill, with Dr. Charles Foss officiating.

Dr. Platt, a surgeon, graduated from Clemson College and received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He was a former chief of staff at York General and Piedmont Medical Center and was on the Board of Trustees at Piedmont Medical Center. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour.

He began a new career with the U.S. Air Force in 1987, where he rose to the rank of Colonel before retiring in 1996. During his time in the military, he served in the Gulf War in 1991.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Sims Platt of the home; his son, William Mikell Platt of Laramie, Wyo.; two daughters, Elizabeth Pinckney Platt and Murray Platt Walker, both of Charlotte; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to the Episcopal Home for Children, 234 Kings Mountain St., York SC 29745, or to the charity of one's choice.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

William Sandridge Jr.

CLOVER - Mr. William Sandridge Jr., 67, 2476 Bonnie Glen Road died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at York Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Correll officiating.

Mr. Sandridge was a employee of Red's Sandwich Shop in York. He was a retired accountant for the city of West Palm Beach, Fla. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pittsburgh and West Palm Beach.

Surviving are his wife, Vicki Toomy Sandridge of Clover; his daughter, Kathleen M. Peter of West Palm Beach; his brother, James Sandridge of Pittsburgh; and a grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at York Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Shriner's Crippled Children's Fund, 950 W. Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29601.

Pauline Shade

ROCK HILL - Ms. Pauline Shade, 77, of 701 Porter Road died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at Forsythe Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home in Rock Hill.

John Couch

FORT MILL - Mr. John Croxton "Jake" Couch, 55, of 1435 McKinney St. died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Unity Cemetery.

Mr. Couch served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post No. 43. A graduate of Fort Mill High School, he was a carpenter and attended Fort Mill Church of God.

Surviving are his brother, Kenneth McKinney; and four sisters, June Cook of Augusta, Ga., and Joyce Osborne, Violet Allred and Yvonne Giles, all of Fort Mill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Joyce Osborne, 1360 Hensley Road.

Memorials may be made to Fort Mill Church of God Christian Service, 221 Academy St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Lillie Edwards

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lillie Wilson Edwards, 85, of 1007 S. Stonewall St. died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Antioch Cemetery in Loris, with the Rev. Travis Martin officiating.

A native of Loris, Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was the widow of Lewis Grady Edwards.

Surviving are her son, Jack Edwards of Rock Hill; two daughters, Lila Thomas of Rock Hill and Louise Straub of Charlotte; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Sandy Walker.
