Jack Jolley

ROCK HILL - Mr. Jack C. Jolley, 75, of 1999 Neely Store Road died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The memorial service will be 5 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy McClendon officiating. Burial will be in Brainard Cemetery in Cranbury, N.J.

A native of Bartlesville, Okla., Mr. Jolley was a retired real estate broker and developer. He was a former FBI agent in the New York and Boston areas. Mr. Jolley was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was the recipient of two Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Air Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Air Force Service Ribbon with Silver Service Star.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Jolley; his son, Richard Jolley of the home; three daughters, Colleen Sims of Portland, Ore., Heidi Martin of Sun City, Calif., and Cindy Carnes of Morino Valley, Calif.; his sister, Mildred Hess of Bartlesville, Okla; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.

Thomas Lane III

RICHMOND, Va. - Thomas "Trey" Lane III, the 2-year-old son of Thomas Lane Jr. and Gloria Jackson Lane, of 1967 Redd St., formerly of Chester, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at King's Funeral Home in Chester, with the Rev. Ronald McClurkin officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Dantrell Jackson of Chester; his paternal grandparents, Betty Lane of Richmond and Thomas Lane of Chester; and his paternal great-grandmother, Grace Cook of Virginia.

The family will receive friends at the home of the Rev. Ronald and Florence McClurkin, 125 Carr St., Chester.

Willie Leitner

BLACKSTOCK - Mrs. Willie Smith Leitner, 95, formerly of Greendale Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, in Sumter at NHC Healthcare.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Winnsboro, with the Revs. John Branham and Victor Jackson officiating.

Mrs. Leitner was a homemaker and attended Fairfield County public schools.

Surviving are three sons, Dozier S. Leitner of Blackstock, John Lott Leitner of Blythewood and Wade Leitner of Sumter; her daughter, Louise L. Harper of Sumter; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home of Great Falls is in charge.

Hubert Platt

ROCK HILL - Dr. Hubert Osteen Platt, 65, of 1557 Granville Road died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at home.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Rock Hill, with Dr. Charles Foss officiating.

Dr. Platt, a surgeon, graduated from Clemson College and received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He was a former chief of staff at York General and Piedmont Medical Center and was on the Board of Trustees at Piedmont Medical Center. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour.

He began a new career with the U.S. Air Force in 1987, where he rose to the rank of Colonel before retiring in 1996. During his time in the military, he served in the Gulf War in 1991.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Sims Platt of the home; his son, William Mikell Platt of Laramie, Wyo.; two daughters, Elizabeth Pinckney Platt and Murray Platt Walker, both of Charlotte; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to the Episcopal Home for Children, 234 Kings Mountain St., York SC 29745, or to the charity of one's choice.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary Childers

SHARON - Mrs. Mary Lucille Dover Childers, 70, of 3217 North York St. died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Hickory Grove Church of God, with the Rev. Roger Nix officiating and the Revs. John Smith and T.I. Bass assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Childers is the widow of David Childers. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hickory Grove Church of God.

Surviving are two sons, Leon David Childers and Howard Thomas Childers, both of York; two daughters, Joyce C. Hamrick of York and Mary Lou C. White of Sharon; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the York Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Hickory Grove Church of God, P.O. Box 65, Hickory Grove, SC 29717.

Dan Degraffenreid

CHESTER - Mr. Dan Terry "Big Lou" Degraffenreid, 42, of 175 Jeter St. died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.E. Page officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. today.

Mr. Degraffenreid was a native of Chester County and was a former employee of Rauch Industries. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a 1974 graduate of Chester High School.

Surviving are his son, Daniel Degraffenreid of Greenville; his stepson, Daniel McGriffin of Chester; his stepdaughter, Lisa Crank of Chester; his father, George Lee Degraffenreid, and his mother, Ola Mae Degraffenreid, both of Chester; four brothers, Ervin Mayfield, George G. Mayfield and Albert Degraffenreid, all of Chester, and Ray Charles Degraffenreid of Bishopville; and two sisters, Sylvia D. Chisholm of Chester and Freidolene Mayfield of Baltimore.

The family will receive friends at the home of George Mayfield, 120 Lowry St., Chester.

Denton Funeral Home of Chester is in charge.

George Linker

ROCK HILL - Mr. George Gibson Linker, 87, of 1330 India Hook Road, formerly of Concord, N.C., died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at Westminster Towers.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Oakwood Cemetery in Concord, with the Revs. Ray Mohrmann and William Fox officiating.

Mr. Linker was a retired purchasing agent for the Concord Telephone Company and a graduate of Tristate College in Evansville, Ind. An active member of Saint James Lutheran Church in Concord, Mr. Linker transferred his membership to the Grace Lutheran Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Schumate Linker; his son, Michael F. Linker of Montgomery, Ala.; his daughter, Lindsey L. Beaver of Rock Hill; his sister, Era L. Funderburk of Gastonia, N.C.; five grandchildren; and his great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends in the Community Room of Westminster Towers at 1330 India Hook Road from 7 to 9 p.m. today and at other times at the home of his daughter at 2776 Lydia St.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 426 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to Saint James Lutheran Church, 104 Union St. South, Concord, NC 28205 or to the York County American Cancer Association, P.O. Box 2982, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
