John Gourley

YORK - Mr. John Robert "Jack" Gourley, 43, of 7231 Park Place Road, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill.

Lauren Edwards

MYRTLE BEACH - Ms. Lauren E. Edwards, 39, of 36th Ave. N. died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at home.

The memorial service was Saturday at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.

Ms. Edwards was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and attended Coastal Carolina College.

Surviving are her son, Aaron Edwards of Myrtle Beach; her father, Robert C. Nesbitt of Durham, N.C.; her mother, Joye B. Nesbitt of Myrtle Beach; and her sister, Jan Nesbitt of Myrtle Beach.

Brady Ligon

BLACKSBURG - Mr. Brady Ligon, 82, of 1302 Rutherford St. died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Revs. Gregg Martin and Billy Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 172. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian Bell Ligon; three sons, Miles "Buddy" Ligon and David Ligon, both of Blacksburg, and Charles Keith Ligon of Shelby, N.C.; five daughters, Carol L. Hope of Rock Hill, Linda L. McDaniel and Angie L. Moss, both of Blacksburg, Deloris L. Whisonant of Lexington and Debra L. McAbee of Union; two brothers, Arthur Ligon of Blacksburg and Joe Ligon of York; his sister, Dorothy L. Lanier of York; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at White Columns Funeral Home in Blacksburg.

The body will be taken to the church at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church building fund, 511 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702.

Ronnie Vinson

LANDO - Mr. Ronnie Keith "Sam" Vinson, 46, of 1138 School House Road died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Augusta, Ga.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lando Cemetery, with the Rev. Edward Harris officiating and the Rev. Darrell Twitty assisting.

Mr. Vinson was employed with Randolph Yarn.

Surviving are his brother, Joe H. Ferguson Sr. of Edgemoor; and two sisters, Mary Kee of Edgemoor and Connie V. Flores of Lando.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wright's Funeral Home in Chester.

Harold Worthy

CHESTER - Mr. Harold Worthy, 62, of 1179 Turn Buckle Road in the Wilksburg Community died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Washington officiating and the Revs. Moses Lightner, Wylie White and Fran Moore assisting. The Rev. Amos Durham will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Worthy was a Chester County native. He was a member of the AP&B Society No. 17 and the Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church. He was an avid baseball player and former coach of the Wilksburg Sluggers. He was a former textile employee.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Gore Worthy; two sons, Kelvin Worthy and Charles Worthy, both of Chester; his daughter, Bonita Worthy of Chester; two brothers, Ernest Sanders of Rock Hill and Walker Worthy of Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at King's Funeral Home.

The body will be carried to the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Barry Hilton

COLUMBIA - Mr. Barry Eugene Hilton, 17, of 5501 Fairfield Road died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at Richland Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel, with the Revs. Larry Reeves and Gary Robert officiating. Burial will be at Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hilton was a carpenter.

Surviving are his father, James Barry Lenn Hilton of Columbia; his mother, Sylvia Ann Faile Hilton of Kershaw; two sisters, Rebekah Rollins and Sandra Deas, both of Kershaw; and his maternal grandparents, J.W. and Luella Faile of Kershaw.

The family will receive friends at 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Sammie Phillips

KERSHAW - Mr. Sammie Lee "Buster" Phillips, 71, of 6148 Flat Creek Road died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, with the Revs. James Reppart and J. D. Shiflet officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the Korean War and World War II having served in both the U.S. Army and Navy. He was a member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and served as Sunday school teacher for young adults.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian McManus Phillips; three sons, Maurice Phillips and Keith Phillips, both of Kershaw, and Eric Phillips of Heath Springs; three brothers, William "Billy" Phillips, W.F. Phillips and Chalmers Phillips, all of Kershaw; three sisters, Susie P. Ellis of Camden, Frances McManus of Kershaw and Shirley P. Watts of Lancaster; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Plain Baptist Church van fund, 3777 Pleasant Plain Road, Kershaw, SC 29067.
