Lessie Broughton

LANCASTER - Mrs. Lessie Adams Broughton, 66, of 3369 Capricorn Road died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Taylors Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. N.J. Neely officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Broughton was retired from Duracell Co. and was a member of Taylors Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Leo Broughton of the home; two daughters, Esther Caskey and Jill Gainey, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Claude Adams of New Orleans and Ed Adams of Lancaster; four sisters, June Tyson, Bessie Evans and Blanche McManus, all of Lancaster, and Ruby Mosley of Columbia; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, 6 to 7 tonight. Memorials may be made to Taylors Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2382 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Mary Calhoun

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary "Dee" Nelson Calhoun, 82, of 618 Izard St. died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at Beverly Health Care.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Flint Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Durham officiating. The Rev. David Nelson will give the eulogy. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Greenville, Mrs. Calhoun, was employed by Amalgamated Textiles where she retired after 50 years. She was a member of White Rock Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Helping Hand Club and the Sheepfold of Enoch Club.

Surviving are her brother, Samuel Nelson of Rock Hill; and her niece, Willie Crosby of Rock Hill, with whom she lived.

The family will receive friend from 2:30 to 3 p.m. today at the church. The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Home.

Frances Crouch

CHESTER - Mrs. Frances Louise McCameron Crouch, 60, of 549 4th St. died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Saluda Street Church of God, with the Revs. Dennis Reid and Reggie Parker officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Crouch was a homemaker. She attended Saluda Street Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, Billy Crouch; two sons, Tommy Crouch and Dewyone Crouch, both of Chester; her daughter, Daylon Freeman of Chester; her brother, W.J. McCameron of Chester; her sister, Willie Mae Lipford of Chester; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Dan Degraffenreid

CHESTER - Mr. Dan Terry "Big Lou" Degraffenreid, 42, of 175 Jeter St. died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.E. Page officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. today.

Mr. Degraffenreid was a native of Chester County and was a former employee of Rauch Industries. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a 1974 graduate of Chester High School.

Surviving are his son, Daniel Degraffenreid of Greenville; his stepson, Daniel McGriffin of Chester; his stepdaughter, Lisa Crank of Chester; his father, George Lee Degraffenreid, and his mother, Ola Mae Degraffenreid, both of Chester; four brothers, Ervin Mayfield, George G. Mayfield and Albert Degraffenreid, all of Chester, and Ray Charles Degraffenreid of Bishopville; and two sisters, Sylvia D. Chisholm of Chester and Freidolene Mayfield of Baltimore.

The family will receive friends at the home of George Mayfield, 120 Lowry St., Chester.

Denton Funeral Home of Chester is in charge.

Ann Moore

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ann Harris Moore, 70, of 261 S. Herlong Ave. died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Linda Dunn and Dr. Tim McClendon officiating. The burial will be private.

She was the widow of Phillip Gardner Moore. Mrs. Moore was a member of St. John's UMC and a retired employee of the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co., where she worked for over 25 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Vivian Carroll and Terry Moore of Charlotte; two sons, Tommy Moore of Rock Hill and Phillip Moore of Rome, Ga.; and three brothers, Lloyd Harris of Columbia, Elliott P. Harris Jr. of Chickamauga, Ga., and Gettys N. Harris of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends after the service at the church in the Family Life Center. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202 or to St. John's UMC 321 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

John Porter

CHESTER - Mr. John H. Porter, 95, of 3215 Mt. Pleasant Church Road died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral chapel, with the Rev. Elton Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight and at the home at 3215 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Chester.

Mr. Porter was a retired farmer and former employee of Milliken Co., Lockhart Plant.

Surviving are his wife, Nannie Robbins Porter; six daughters, Linda P. Stephenson, Peggy P. Henderson, Mary P. Ivey, Katherine P. Harris, Elizabeth P. Burnet and Patricia P. Enix, all of Chester; two sons, John Henry Porter and James N. Porter, both of Chester; two sisters, Pearl P. Smith of Lockhart and Louise P. Orr of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 4219 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Chester, SC 29706 or to the Wilksburg Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3137 Pinckney Road, Chester, SC 29706.

The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home of Union is in charge.

Betty Roddey

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Betty Tuttle Roddey, 63, of McDowell Drive died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Baptist Church, with the Revs. Darrell Twitty and Johnny McDowell officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Roddey was the widow of James H. Roddey Jr. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was a graduate of Great Falls High School.

Surviving are her daughter, Paula R. Slayton of Kershaw; two brothers, E.G. Tuttle of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Billy C. Tuttle of Moncks Corner; seven sisters, Geraldine McDowell of North Charleston, Dorothy Jordan of Greer and Joyce Smith, Carolyn Barton, Doris Bailey, Pat Yoder and Anna Tuttle, all of Great Falls; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, P.O. Box 297, Great Falls, SC 29055. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her sister, Pat Yoder, 113 Lybrand St., Great Falls, SC.
