Ellen Barton

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ellen Ruth Sistare Barton, 83, of 614 Gillsbrook Road died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Shane Patrick, Roy Barnes and Roy Beckham officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A retired secretary and bookkeeper, Mrs. Barton was past president of her Sunday school class as well as a member of the First Baptist Church and OASIS, the church circle and WMU. She was the widow of Franklin Thayer Barton.

Surviving are two daughters, Hazel Jordan of Cayce and Mott Henley of Lancaster; her sister, Mary Louise Parrish of Lancaster; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church OASIS Choir Fund, 300 S. Market St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Mahaffey Funeral Home is in charge.

Emma Chambers

YORK - Mrs. Emma Sue Youngblood Chambers, 85, of 950 Chambers Road died Friday, Oct. 30 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Tom McPhail officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A member of the Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Chambers was the widow of Jamie Lewis Chambers.

Surviving are three sons, Lewis Dixon Chambers of York, Ralph Benton Chambers of Rock Hill and Marion Reed Chambers of York; three daughters, Rebecca Petty, Laverne Spoon and Joyce Bennet, all of York; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover, and at other times at the home of Joyce Bennet, 742 Chambers Road, York.

Memorials may be made to Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery Association, 1184 N. Shiloh Road, York, SC 29745.

Edna Elder

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Mrs. Edna Grace Elder, 64, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at Lincolnton Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Paw Creek Ministries, with Pastor Joseph R. Chambers officiating. Burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park.

Mrs. Elder was a homemaker, a nursery volunteer and a school bus driver, as well as a member of Paw Creek Ministries and the Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Vann Douglas Elder of Rock Hill; three daughters, Judy Whitley of Lincolnton, N.C., Susan Melton of Charlotte and Connie Demby of Rock Hill; two sons, Vann Douglas Elde and Kelly Scott Elder, both of Rock Hill; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-children.

McEwen Funeral Service is in charge.

Nellie Head

GOLDSBORO, N.C. - Mrs. Nellie Lucille Head, 70, of 1405 Poplar Street #7 died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at Bibleway Temple in Washington, D.C.

Surviving are two daughters, Darnell McDowney of Brandywine, Md., and Pamela Head of Goldsboro, NC; seven sons, John Head of Westover, Md., Norman Head of Buffalo, N.Y., Jerry Head of Upper Marlboro, Md., Dana Head of Landover, Md., Felix Head of Goldsboro, N.C., Steve Head of Goldsboro, N.C. and Wayne Head; two sisters, Mary Parks of Buffalo, N.Y., and Eloise Boyd of Richburg; three brothers, James Boulware of Chester, John Boulware of Chester and Ernest Boulware of Washington, D.C.; 26 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

There will be a wake Monday night from 6 to 9 at Brown's Chapel Church, 622 Nor Am Road, Pikesville, N.C.

Cora King

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Cora M. King, 86, of 1511 Beltline Blvd. died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Union ARP Church in Richburg, with the Rev. Allen Derrick officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery.

A native of Richburg, Mrs. King was a retired elementary school teacher. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Orangeburg.

Surviving are her daughter, Pat Blackmon of Columbia; her sister, Mary Bennett of Richburg; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Mary Bennett, 3544 Lancaster Highway, Richburg.

Grace Moore

CLOVER - Mrs. Grace Maebelle Smith Moore, 87, of 2192 Knox Road died Friday, Oct. 30 1998, at Eden Gardens in Kings Mountain, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 pm Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Stanford officiating. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC.

A member of the First Baptist Church, Mrs. Moore was the widow of Lester L. Moore.

Surviving are two sons, Glen Moore of Graham, N.C., and Robert Moore of Clover; her sister, Ruth Smith of Conover, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Luther Black

CHESTER - Mr. Luther M. Black, 89, of 532 Old York Road died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Barron Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Gaddy officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

Born in Leesville, Mr. Black was retired from Springs Industries. He attended the Leesville schools and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Leesville.

He was the widower of Veona A. Black.

Surviving are his daughter, Janie B. Mobley of Chester; his brother, Bascomb Black of Leesville; two sisters, Mary Alma Trotter of Leesville and Lona Idell Shealey of Leesville; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.
