ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lillie Thompson, 92, of 1136 Williams St. died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lillie Mae Brewer Thompson, 92, of 1136 Williams St. died Sunday, July 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Revs. Jesse Simms and Glenn Self officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of Grace Nazarene Church and worked for Aragon Mills for more than 30 years.
Surviving are her son, Wilburn H. "Bud" Thompson of Rock Hill; two daughters, Geneva T. Snyder and Eula Lone, both of Rock Hill; her sister, Viola Lewis of Sumter; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Bessie White, of 233 Cinda St., died Saturday, July 4, 1998, at her home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Bessie Crockett White of 233 Cinda St. died Saturday, July 4, 1998, at her home.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at James Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ira Roddey officiating and the Revs. Karry White and George Lowry assisting. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. White was a native of York County. She attended public schools in York and Lancaster counties. She was a member of Red Oak AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was a former employee of Cone Mills in Pineville. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Cardoza White III; three sons, Billy Crockett of Rock Hill, and Bernard White and Teddy White, both of Fort Mill; her daughter, Sherleen White of Fort Mill; four sisters, Minnie Davis and Maggie Boular, both of Rock Hill, and Thelma Barber and Mary Massey, both of Charlotte; and two brothers, Audrey Crockett Jr. and James Crockett, both of Rock Hill.
The body may be viewed from 5 to 6 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at James Chapel Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

Norbert Buhl
LANCASTER - Mr. Norbert Richard Buhl, 75, of 1317 Abbey Court died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Morrison officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Buhl was retired from the construction business in office sales. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, where he was president of the Golden Group. He served in the Navy in World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Smith Buhl; two sons, Roger Buhl of Atlanta and Kenneth Buhl of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Margaret Chilcott and Agnes Steiner, both of Erie, Pa.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hartley Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Home Care Hospice, 800 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Lenora Chick
WHITMIRE - Mrs. Lenora R. Chick of Clinton Highway died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at NHC Health Care Center in Clinton.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sims Chapel Baptist Church in Whitmire. Burial will be at Spring Hill AME Zion Church cemetery.
Mrs. Chick was a retired Bessemer City, N.C., middle school teacher. She graduated from Livingstone College and earned her master's degree from North Carolina Central University. She was a member of the Spring Hill AME Zion Church, the Women's Home Aide Society No. 74, the Women's Home Benefit Society No. 15, Evening Lite No. 260 and Zeta Phi Beta.
Surviving are her son, Barney Chick of Greenville; two sisters, Pernetta Rowell of Rock Hill and FelicaBrown of Greenville; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hunter and Sons Funeral Home.
The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Samuel Douglas Jr.
CHESTER - Mr. Samuel McClurkin Douglas Jr., 81, formerly of 1801 Halseville Road died Monday, July 6, 1998, at Laurens County Hospital in Clinton.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. W.L. Faile officiating. Burial will be at Woodward Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Douglas was a native of Chester County. He was retired from Cone Textile in Carlisle. He was a member of Woodward Baptist Church. A graduate of of Blackstock High School, he was an Army veteran of World War II and served with the 30th Division, 117 Regiment.
Surviving are his sister, Kathleen D. Henderson of Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today at Barron Funeral Home.

Agnes Eckhoff
CHESTER - Mrs. Agnes Collins Eckhoff, 92, formerly of Pine Street in Chester, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at the Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Will Brown officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Eckhoff was a graduate of Chester High School. She attended Winthrop and Columbia colleges. A homemaker, she was the widow of Herman A. Eckhoff Sr. and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are her son, Bradley O. Eckhoff of Picayune, Miss.; her brother, William J. Collins of Waverly, Va.; her sister, LucileC. Mennig of Maripo, Calif.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at home.

Joyce Garrett
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Joyce Ritter Garrett, 71, of 710 S. York Ave. died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Woodland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Pietila officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Garrett was the widow of Eddie L. Garrett Sr. and was a graduate of Princeton High School in Princeton, W.Va. She earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1948 from Concord College in Athens, W.Va., where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. She worked at Celanese after graduation. She taught general math and algebra from 1964 to 1989 at Rock Hill High School. In 1970, she earned her master's degree in teaching.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Starlite Chapter. She a member of Woodland United Methodist Church, where she was a teacher in the Fidelis Sunday school class, and on the administrative board and altar guild.
Surviving are her son, Eddie L. Garrett Jr. of Fort Mill; her daughter, Nancy Garrett McFall of Rock Hill; three brothers, Blair Ritter of Spartanburg, the Rev. Guy A. Ritter Jr. of Salem, Va., and the Rev. Philip M. Ritter of Clarksville, Tenn.; her sister, Nancy Ritter White of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Woodland United Methodist Church, 801 Cherry Road, Rock Hill, or to the American Cancer Society, 339 East Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

John Hancock
ROCK HILL - Mr. John Hancock, 80, of 1959 Lewis St. died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Jesse Sims officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
Mr. Hancock attended Grace Church of the Nazarene. He was retired from Springs Industries, where he worked for 35 years. He was an active member of the Rock Hill Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are his wife, Eula Mae Hancock; his daughter, Margie Faye Cranford of Myrtle Beach; three stepsons, Sammy Howell of Fort Mill; Wayne Gillespie of Huntersville, N.C., and Jerry Gillespie of Rock Hill; his stepdaughter, Angela Howell Bullard of Rock Hill; his sister, LiveySexton of Fort Mill; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Grace Church of the Nazarene building fund, 1029 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Susie Cherry died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at Meadow Haven Rehabilitation and Specialty Care Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Susie Mae Ervin Cherry died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at Meadow Haven Rehabilitation and Specialty Care Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cross Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.E. Boulware officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A York County native, Mrs. Cherry was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church. She attended the public schools of York County. She was a retired employee of York General Hospital.
Surviving are her daughter, Lottie M. Cherry of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; her grandson whom she reared, Geoffrey D. Ramseur of Detroit; two brothers, Joe Ervin of Rock Hill and Willie Jean Ervin of Newark, N.J.; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 560 Freedom Road.
The body may be viewed at 9 a.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at noon Friday.
