Luther Roach

LANCASTER - Mr. Luther Reed Roach, 59, of 3266 Taxahaw Road died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Camp Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Cecil Johnson and Steve Anglin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Roach was a retired supervisor for Springs Industries Engineering Department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of Camp Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Chyrel Ann Moseley Roach; his son, Mark Roach of Lancaster; his daughter, Sandy Geiger of Lancaster; his stepson, Terry Moseley of Lancaster, two stepdaughters, Tonya Moseley and Donna Shirley, both of Lancaster; his mother, Louella Taylor Roach Hill of Lancaster; four brothers, Johnny T. Roach, Frank Roach, Gene Roach and Mertic Roach, all of Lancaster; three sisters, Mildred Grant of Stockton, Calif., Edna Campbell and Dorothy Anderson, both of Lancaster; three grandchildren and five step grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1142, Lancaster, SC 29721.

Raymond Williams

LANCASTER - Mr. Raymond James Williams, 65, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Watts officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mr. Williams was retired from Kanawha Insurance Co. with 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League, the State of South Carolina Disaster Preparedness Agency, the Lancaster Amateur Radio Club and the USAF Official Military Affiliate Radio System. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a charter member of Taylors Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Fraser Williams; two sons, Steve Williams and Michael Williams, both of Lancaster; three brothers, David Williams of Baltimore, Md., Woodrow Williams of Lugoff and Billy Williams of Lancaster; his sister, Alma Carnes of Cramerton, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Dennis Rogers Sr.

SPARTANBURG - Mr. Dennis Gene "Dood" Rogers Sr., 67, of 142 Carlisle Bennett Road died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

The graveside service will be 3 p.m. today in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Robert C. Morgan officiating.

A native of Spartanburg County, Mr. Rogers was a retired school teacher and textile worker. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, Cannon's Ruritan Club and the Spartanburg Gamecock Club.

A U.S. Navy veteran from the Korean Conflict, Mr. Rogers was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in business.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Dickson Rogers; his son, Gene Rogers of Rock Hill; his daughter, Julie Rogers of Boiling Springs; two brothers, Carl Rogers of Spartanburg and Edward Rogers of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends after the service at the home.

Howard Onley

ROCK HILL - Mr. Howard Onley, 75, of 1511 Penny Lane died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. David Inman officiating.

Mr. Onley was a native of Rock Hill. He was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He owned Howard Onley Septic Tank Service and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Brakefield Onley; his son, Howard L. "Sonny" Onley of Rock Hill; his daughter, Sherrell O. Carter of York; his stepdaughter, Pamela L. Honeycutt of Fort Mill; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his son, 1518 Spring Point Road.

C.T.S. Wilburn Jr.

UNION - Mr. C.T.S. "Bill" Wilburn Jr. 87, of 196 Boatman Springs Road died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, after a brief illness.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, with the Revs. Joe Wilson Smith and Jim Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Wilburn was a Union native. He was the widower of Elmira Newton Wilburn. He was a member of the Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and formerly was chairman of the deacons and Sunday school superintendent for 39 years.

He graduated from Clemson University. He was the former principal of Cross Keys School, an agricultural teacher and principal and superintendent of education at Oakway High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was discharged as a major.

Mr. Wilborn was a Paul Harris Fellow and was a former vice president and treasurer for the Union County Chamber of Commerce, a former state board member for the Small Business Administration, former president of the Union County Livestock Association and former treasurer of the Union Commission of Higher Education. He was former chairman of the advisory board for the First National Bank of Union. He retired in 1987 as wood dealer and buyer for Champion Paper Co., after 30 years.

Surviving are his daughter, Sarah W. Inabinet of Union; his brother, J. Meador Wilburn of Union; three sisters, Juanita Wilburn and Ruth Windell, both of Rock Hill, and Mattie Belle Kinard of Simpsonville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home of his daughter, Sarah Inabinet, 3261 Cross Keys Highway in Union.

The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Sandy Williams

CLOVER - Mrs. Sandy Lee Williams, 29, of 109 Zion Church Road died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill after a prolonged illness.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Clover, with the Revs. W.T. Massey, Patricia Starr and Charles White officiating.

Surviving are her parents, Sammy and Mattie Williams of the home; two sons, Adrian and Rodregious Williams, both of the home; two daughters, Dyisheekia and Sierra Williams, both of the home; three brothers, Sammy Williams and Johnny Bratton of Gastonia, N.C., and Fred Bratton of Clover; four sisters, Shirley Williams of the home, Dorothy Williams of Clover, Nicole Carpenter of Blacksburg and Mattie Phillips of Gastonia; and her grandmother, Mary Williams of York.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 7:30 tonight at Generation Funeral Home.

Evelyn Alexander

FORT MILL - Mrs. Georgia Evelyn Alexander, 80, of 416 N. White St., died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Alexander was a member of Community Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are three sons, Don H. Patterson of Fort Mill, Mark E. Alexander and William D. Alexander; her brother, Boyd Mungo of Hartsville; her sister, Lily Ernestine Simpson of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.
