Bobby Gaither

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Bobby Ray Gaither, 39, of 5603 Old Winnsboro Road died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at New Independent Methodist Church, with the Rev. M. Whitten and Tommy Rush officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Gaither was a member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Winnsboro, its senior choir and men's choir. He was a 1976 graduate of Great Falls High School and was employed by Lexington Medical in Rock Hill. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 127 in Great Falls and Mitford Men's Club.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Brace Gaither; his son, Chalmers DeDalier Rayshard Gaither of the home; his daughter, Sanquienette Tecola Gaither of the home; his mother, Beatrice Gaither of Winnsboro; four brothers, Thomas W. Gaither and Herbert Gaither, both of Winnsboro, John W. Gaither of Lancaster and Charles Gaither of Great Falls; five sisters, Dorothy Stewart, Ada Mae Boulware, Virginia Ann Hicklin and Edna Faye Lamar, all of Great Falls, and Lilly B. Belton of Ossing, N.Y.

Visitation will be 7 to 8 tonight at Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Friday.

Ronnie Mann Jr.

ROCK HILL - Ronnie Antonio Mann Jr., infant son of Ronnie and Beverly Mann Sr., died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. L.L. Robertson officiating.

Surviving in addition to his parents are three sisters, Brittany Massey, LaCandra Massey and Cha Rondria Mann, all of the home; his brother, Robert L. Williamson of Rock Hill; his paternal grandfather, Ronnie Kirk Sr. of Rock Hill; his paternal grandmother, Minnie Moon of Rock Hill; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie L. Massey of Rock Hill; and his maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Jones of Rock Hill.

Clemons Funeral Home is in charge.

Bunion Rice

CLOVER - Mr. Bunion Clinton "B.C." Rice, 69, 108 Faulkner St. died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Faith Baptist Church in Clover, with the Revs. Mark Collins and David Stanford officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

Mr. Rice was a retired truck driver with Houff Transfer Inc. in Charlotte. He was retired from York County Solid Waste Management and continued to work part time with York County as a convenience center attendant. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, York Philanthropic Lodge 32 A.F.M. in York, the Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte. He was a former member of the Derita Lodge in Charlotte. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Gilliam Rice; three sons, Steven Shehan of Tampa, Fla.; David Clinton Rice of Mooresville and Christopher Lee Rice of Charlotte; his daughter, Cheryl Rice Arrington of Charlotte; four stepsons, Barry Allen Sandidge and David B. Sandidge, both of Buena Vista, Va., and Dennis B. Sandidge and Randall L. Sandidge, both of Clover; two stepdaughters, Marlene A. Shafer of Buena Vista, Va., and Lori S. Stine of Clover; his brother, L.C. Rice of Rock Hill; three sisters, Opal Howell, Jody Walters and Rebecca Strait, all of Rock Hill; and 12 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Pearl Ridley

CLOVER - Mrs. Pearl Childers Ridley, 79, of 981 Highway 321 South died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Woodside Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Spear officiating.

Mrs. Ridley was the widow of James E. Ridley and attended Clover Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are two sons, Howard P. Ridley and Johnny F. Ridley, both of Clover; two daughters, Delia R. Leatherman of Battle Creek, Mich., and Carolyn R. Clark of York; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Clover Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 214, Clover, SC 29710.

Vernon Sikes

ROCK HILL - Mr. Vernon Oscar Sikes of 110 Durwood Road died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rick Sturgis officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Sikes, a native of Mount Croghan, was of the Baptist faith. He was a retiree of the Hoechst Celanese Corp. where he worked for eight years. Mr. Sikes loved to restore and show antique cars. He was the widower of Ellen Bolin Sikes.

Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Locklair and Wanda Schneider, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, William Sikes of Mount Croghan and Pete Sikes of Pageland; two sisters, Mamie Snipes of Pageland and Dorothy Sullivan of Jefferson; three grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Center, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Howard Onley

ROCK HILL - Mr. Howard Onley, 75, of 1511 Penny Lane died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. David Inman officiating.

Mr. Onley was a native of Rock Hill. He was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He owned Howard Onley Septic Tank Service and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Brakefield Onley; his son, Howard L. "Sonny" Onley of Rock Hill; his daughter, Sherrell O. Carter of York; his stepdaughter, Pamela L. Honeycutt of Fort Mill; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his son, 1518 Spring Point Road.

C.T.S. Wilburn Jr.

UNION - Mr. C.T.S. "Bill" Wilburn Jr. 87, of 196 Boatman Springs Road died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, after a brief illness.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, with the Revs. Joe Wilson Smith and Jim Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Wilburn was a Union native. He was the widower of Elmira Newton Wilburn. He was a member of the Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and formerly was chairman of the deacons and Sunday school superintendent for 39 years.

He graduated from Clemson University. He was the former principal of Cross Keys School, an agricultural teacher and principal and superintendent of education at Oakway High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was discharged as a major.

Mr. Wilborn was a Paul Harris Fellow and was a former vice president and treasurer for the Union County Chamber of Commerce, a former state board member for the Small Business Administration, former president of the Union County Livestock Association and former treasurer of the Union Commission of Higher Education. He was former chairman of the advisory board for the First National Bank of Union. He retired in 1987 as wood dealer and buyer for Champion Paper Co., after 30 years.

Surviving are his daughter, Sarah W. Inabinet of Union; his brother, J. Meador Wilburn of Union; three sisters, Juanita Wilburn and Ruth Windell, both of Rock Hill, and Mattie Belle Kinard of Simpsonville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home of his daughter, Sarah Inabinet, 3261 Cross Keys Highway in Union.

The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
