Elizabeth Tinsley

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Elizabeth Chiles Tinsley of 1816 Sharonwood Lane died Saturday, July 11, 1998.

A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grandview Memorial Park in the Bible Garden section.

A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Shelton P. Sanford III and Dr. William A. Fox, Jr. officiating.

Mrs. Tinsley was a native of Palacios, Texas.

Surviving are her husband, Harry Lee Tinsley Jr.; three sons, Harry Lee Tinsley III of Columbia, and Drenner McNeal Tinsley and Leslie Chiles Tinsley, both of Rock Hill; her daughter, Karen Elizabeth Helms of Charlotte; her brother, George Austen Chiles of Sugarland, Texas; her sister, Bobbie Mildred Feather of Shreveport, La.; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Southern Piedmont Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215; or to Hospice Community Care, 325 South Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

The family will receive friends at the home, 1816 Sharonwood Lane, Rock Hill.

Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Wanda Blackwell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Wanda Tucker Blackwell, 36, of 565 Trexler Lane died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at Laurens County Hospital in Clinton.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Greene Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Blackwell was of the Baptist faith and attended Rawlinson Road Middle and Northwestern High schools. She was very artistic, loving to draw, sew and write poetry. She was the widow of Jerry Blackwell.

Surviving are her two brothers, Robert "David" Corder of Rock Hill and Walter Tucker of Laurens; two sisters, Robin C. Joas of Colts Neck, N.J., and Barbara Corder of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and other times at 565 Trexler Lane, Rock Hill.

Estelle Crawford

CATAWBA - Mrs. Estelle Ferguson Crawford, 87, of 1920 Canal Road died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert L. Shuler officiating and Dr. Miriam Crawford assisting. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

A Chester County native, Mrs. Crawford was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member and usher. She attended Chester County public schools.

Surviving are her husband, Eugene Crawford of the home; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the residence. The body will be carried to the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

King's Funeral Home is in charge.

K.C. Etters Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. K.C. Etters Jr., 84, of 1525 Reservation Road died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at his home.

A private memorial serivce will be held at a later date.

Mr. Etters was a Great Falls native. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army. He was a King's College graduate. Mr. Etters was retired after working more than 40 years for Springs Industries.

Surviving are his wife, Maria Boers Etters of Rock Hill; two sons, Stephen C. Etters of Monroe, N.C., and Kevin C. Etters of Piedmont; his daughter, Heidi M. Richardson of Chapin; his brother, Alexander Etters of Camden; and six grandchildren.

Wolfe Funeral Home of Fort Mill is in charge.

Zada Johnson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Zada L. Johnson died Sunday, July 12, 1998, at Eden Gardens.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Bass Funeral Home.

Johnny McClurkin

CHESTER - Mr. Johnny James McClurkin, 70, of 881 Elks Drive died Sunday, July 12, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Arrangements will be announced Denton Funeral Home in Chester.

YuVawn Pendergrass

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Ms. YuVawn Pendergrass, 69, of 3939 Springpark Road, Apt. C-31, died Friday, July 10, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester with the Rev. Tony Medlin officiating.

A native of Chester County, Ms. Pendergrass attended Great Falls schools.

Surviving are her two sons, Mike Evans of Great Falls and Mark Evans of Columbia; two daughters, Sandra Evans of Great Falls and Mandy Evans of St. Augustine, Fla.; two brothers, Gilbert Pendergrass of Great Falls and Ray Pendergrass of Leslie; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barron Funeral Home in Chester.

Carl Schaefer III

LAKE WYLIE - Mr. Carl Albert "Buzz" Schaefer III, 65, of 24 Catawba Ridge Road in Lake Wylie died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at home.

A private memorial service will be held for the family, with Father John Giuliani presiding.

Mr. Schaefer graduated cum laude with bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1955 from the University of Wisconsin. He was a member of Kappa Sigma social fraternity and Tau Beta Pi honorary engineering fraternity. He served in the Army Combat Engineers from 1955 to 1957. He worked for Universal Foods Corp. from 1957 to 1981. He worked for Burns Philp Ltd. from 1982 to 1989. He retired as president of Fleishman's Yeast in 1989.

Surviving are his wife, Charlene Janet "Chuckie" Schaefer; his son, James Scot Schaefer of Charlotte; two daughters, Carol Lee Schaefer Delong of Charlotte and Laura Ann Schaefer of Raleigh; nine grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Nottoli of Indiana; and his mother, Mildred Esther Schaefer of Indiana.

The family will receive friends at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Schaefer's river cabin, 588 Evergreen Road, Lake Wylie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River Hills Emergency Squad, O Heritage Drive, Lake Wylie, SC 19710, or Hospice at Charlotte, 1429 East 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.

M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home of Clover is in charge.

William Stroud

LANCASTER - Mr. William Thomas Stroud, 85, of 704 Sumter St. died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

Funeral plans are incomplete and will be announced by Hartley Funeral Home.
