Carl Ramsey

YORK - Mr. Carl "Dudie" Alexander Ramsey, 65, of 200 Wilson Ave. died Sunday, July 12, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Sharon United Methodist Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Lee Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

Mr. Ramsey was a supervisor at Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co., where he was employed for 48 years. He was a member of York County Crescent Shrine Club and Philanthropic Masonic Lodge No. 32. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict.

Surviving are his wife, Louise Cain Ramsey of York; and two brothers, Charles Ramsey and Marvin Ramsey, both of Sharon.

Memorials may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church building fund, 3001 Shannon St., Sharon, SC 29742.

Elizabeth Tate

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Elizabeth J. Tate, 76, of 1687 Meadowdale Road died Monday, July 13, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Shehan officiating. Burial will be in Akron, Ohio.

Mrs. Tate was retired from Goodyear Tire. The widow of Eugene Robert "Bud" Tate was formerly of Akron, where she was a member of the Willard Evangelical Reformed Church and the Goodyear Blue and Gold Club.

Surviving are her son, Paul Robert Tate of Rock Hill; two sisters, Ellen Gatrell of East Palistone, Ohio, and Edna Johnston of North Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Park Ridge Baptist Church building fund, 620 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Rosa Lee Tolliver

Chester - Ms. Rosa Lee Tolliver, 61, of 121 Caldwell St., died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Pine Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.E. Darby officiating and the Revs. Richard Howard and Tommy Sanders assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Ms. Tolliver was a native of Chester County. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She attended Chester County Schools.

Surviving are five sons, Joe Tolliver, Mark Tolliver, Melvin Tolliver and Larry Tolliver, all of Chester and Jerry Tolliver of Lancaster; three daughters, Yvonne Clawson, Gwendolyn L. Tolliver and Della Jackson, all of Chester; six brothers, Charlie Mack Tolliver, Tommy L. Strong, Richard L. Strong, Roosevelt Strong, all of Chester, Willie Strong of Kannapolis, N.C., and Robert Buckson of Baltimore; nine sisters, Betty L. Green, Gloria Gallman, Milly S. Pressley, all of Chester, Mildred S. Pressley, Lizzie Foster and Sarah Coleman, both of Baltimore, Shelly James of Harvey, Ill., Daisy Thompson of Carlisle, and Jessie Jordan of Blackstock; and 25 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home. The body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. today.

Denton Funeral Home is in charge.

Alger Wright

ROCK HILL - Mr. Alger "Eyebrows" Allen Wright, 63, of 1362 Neely Creek Road died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jesse Sims officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

Mr. Wright was a retiree of Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co., with 32 years of service. He was employed with Rock Hill Industrial Piping and also worked at West Main Community Club. He was the widower of Frances Miles Wright.

Surviving are two sons, Allen A. Wright and Archie P. Wright, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Angela Culp of Chester, Donna Fitzpatrick of Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Jerry Wright and Wayne Wright, both of Rock Hill; five sisters, Betty Porter, Linda Jenkins, Patricia Baker, and Margaret Williams, all of Rock Hill, and Donna Cox of Lancaster; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Teresa Black, 1241 Barringer Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 722 N. Jones Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Rufus Bigham

CATAWBA - Mr. Rufus Clayton Bigham, 43, of 755 Cedar Valley died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at home.

The graveside service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Park with the Rev. Steve Kirby officiating.

Surviving are his wife, Penny Blankenship Bigham; three sons, Randy Bigham, Kenneth Bigham, and Steven Bigham, all of the home; his parents, Roy Bigham and Betty Best, both of Rock Hill; three brothers, Gerald Bigham, Scott Morgan and Mitch Morgan, all of Rock Hill; two sisters, Jody Hammond and Tanya Fowler, both of Rock Hill; and his grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.

Sadie Brakefield

CHESTER - Miss Sadie Elizabeth Brakefield, formerly of 106 Smith St., died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at Meadow Haven Rehabilitation and Specialty Care Center.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Armenia United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Will Brown officiating.

A native of Chester County, Miss Brakefield was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She attended Chester County schools.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to The Mustard Seed Fund, Bethel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 751, Chester, SC 29706.

David Dye

ROCK HILL - Mr. David Dye of Rock Hill died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home of his aunt, Alberta Wright, 414 Rich St., Rock Hill.

Georgia Ervin

SEATTLE - Ms. Georgia Ervin, 60, of Redmond, Wash., formerly of Chester, died Sunday, July 12, 1998, in Seattle.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Gore's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Reggie Steele officiating. Burial will be at Sandy River Baptist Church cemetery in Chester.

Surviving are her daughter, Ann Ervin of Baltimore; nine brothers, Otis Stroud of Baltimore, Willie Keenan, Samuel Ervin, and Robert Ervin, all of Columbia, Troy Stroud of Charlotte, Ben Stroud of Chester, Charlie Walker of Clinton, Md., Timothy Walker of Washington, D.C., and Ellis Walker of Edgewood, Md.; six sisters, Jenatte Ward and Rosa Stroud, both of Baltimore, Louise Mill of Rock Hill, and Eloise Simpson, Belinda Ratcliff, and Teresa Johnson, all of Chester; her uncle who reared her, B.T. Stroud of Chester; and four grandchildren.

The family is at the home of B.T. Stroud, 993 Holmes Road, Chester.
